Reviews by POOKEE Summary:
John in Hell knew exactly what was happening in Cold Oak. In fact he had known what was happening to his boys the whole time since he made the deal. Now he had the front row seat to Sam’s death and Dean’s deal. And just how did he know?? The demons in Hell made sure he knew, that’s how… And how did he get out??

YOU SO BEAUTIFULLY AND AT THE SAME TIME, "TERRIFYINGLY" EXAMINED JOHN'S RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS BOYS. WE HAVE ALL QUESTIONED JOHN'S SOMETIMES PUTTING HIS QUEST FOR THE DEMON BEFORE HIS SONS, BUT THIS FIRST CHAPTER REVEALS THAT, YES JOHN MAY HAVE BEEN MISGUIDED IN HIS QUEST AT TIMES BUT HIS BOYS WITHOUT A DOUBT ARE HIS LOVES - HIS LIFEFORCE, HIS INNER STRENGTH. AFTER READING THIS CHAPTER, THE FINAL SCENE BETWEEN DEAN AND JOHN IN AHBL2 MAKES PERFECT SENSE. THROUGH JOHN AND DEAN'S EYES AND EXPRESSIONS - THE FATHER IS SO PROUD OF HIS SONS AND SO LOVES THEM AND WITH A SIMPLE NOD GIVES DEAN ALL A FATHER COULD EVER GIVE BACK - LOVE. YOU HAVE CAPTURED THIS COMPLETELY. CARRY ON - GREAT WRITING. POOK Author's Response: Thank-you so much Pookee, what a wonderful review! John's love has been fierce if not conventional, a fact no one-one on Team Winchester would ever dispute. I'm stoked that you liked this in my work. "Beautiful and terrifiying" such high praise - I'm glowing!!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 04/02/08 Title: Chapter 1: Watch GAELIC, THE PREMISE OF THIS STORY IS MESMERIZING. BUABS WAS TRULY HAUNTING AND VERY DIFFICULT TO WATCH ON SO MANY LEVELS - MURDER BY SAM'S HANDS, SAM'S MANHANDLING OF JO, DEAN'S BEATING AND SHOOTING AND THE LINE THAT TRULY TORE AT MY HEARTS ..."I'D RATHER DIE". YOUR LOOK INTO WHAT WENT ON WITHIN THE PSYCHE OF THE WINCHESTER BROTHERS WILL PROVE (ONCE AGAIN WITH YOUR EXTRAORDINARY TALENT) TO BE PROVACATIVE, EMOTIONAL AND INSPIRING AT THE LEAST. THE RESPECT THAT DEAN AND ABE GIVE TO EACH OTHER THROUGH THE SMALLEST OF WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS SPEAKS WONDERS. ABE'S SILENTLY ASKING PERMISSION TO HELP DEAN UP, HIS USE OD DEAN'S FULL NAME. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO TAKES ON A FATHER / SON QUALITY WITHOUT THE "SOLDIER'S DUTY" THAT DEAN IS SO USED TO. AS A READER, BEING A FLY ON THE WALL, SEEING ABE'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE INTERACTIONS THAT TAKE PLACE BETWEEN THE BROTHERS - THE "LIFETIME OF LOYALTY" BETWEEN THEM AND ABE'S TOTAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE INTENSE LEVELS OF PAIN BOTH ARE IN TRULY SETS THE STAGE FOR A WONDERFULLY ENGAGING STORY TO COME. GOD BLESS AND CARRY ON, POOK Author's Response: POOK!!! I did a little dance when I saw you. Good thing I work from home or people may have stared. This episode dug into me and I couldn't let it go -- and I didn't have just a one shot in me, so... In the Light was born. I created Abe before I found myself nicely attached to Bobby, so I want his relationship with Dean--and Sam to an extent--to be just what you've said. I hope you enjoy the next part and the ones to come after. Thank you as always for your kind words and the time you spend with me. Slainte, Gaelic

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 22/02/08 Title: Chapter 2: See Gaelic, My apologies for not reviewing sooner. This is my busy season and time slips by too quickly. I always feel like I'm on a scavenger hunt when I read your work - so many little nuances to find and digest! It 's so amazing to view the many layers of the Winchesters: Dean, the ultimate guardian reverting to a boyish quality while playing with "his dog" ; the need for Sam to hear from Dean that he is upset and haunted by what happened with and by Sam and that Dean forgives him; the need for Dean to hear from Sam that Dean let him down, abandoned him, failed to keep him safe and the hear Sam's forgiving words. So simple yet so difficult for these brothers. The interaction between Maggie and Dean (please be kind to her and those "who may have age similarities"). Maggie seems to embrace the same qualities as Dean - heartache, pain, loyalty, respect. Their interaction is definitely a character study or a "study of characters". I find the relationship between Abe and Dean enduring. Finally, (pre Bobby) someone who can ground Dean with unique guidance and deep respect - something found in a father/son relationship. Oddly, Abe seems to have a similar relationship with Sam that Sam had with his father. Abe sees all the god given qualities in Sam that he sees in Dean, yet he protects his relationship with Sam. Never truly trusting - not yet. Abe is honored to see into the foundations of the Winchesters: Dean, John's Warrior Sam, John's Gift. Great... as always! God Bless & Keep You, Pookee/Janet
Author's Response: Hi Pookee! Thanks so much for this and I apologize for not replying sooner. I missed it. Bad Gaelic. But I see it now, and that's what matters! You really get to the crux of the message I work to put out with the characters in the chapter -- thank you for that. I will be kind to Maggie, no worries. She's inspired by one of my good friends, a truly amazing woman. I only hope I do her justice. I am pleased that you see the nuances between Dean and Abe and Sam and Abe -- I hope the "why" becomes clear to you as you read on. Thanks again -- and keep your chin up through this busy season. I look forward to seeing you when you have time to read again. Best always,

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 02/03/08 Title: Chapter 3: Look Gaelic, This chapter amazingly captures the relationship between the brothers. Their ability to think and feel as one; to know each other's needs, to feel each other's fears. As these men were raised "in each other's pockets" it would only be fitting to have a relationship and connection such as they do. Your depiction of Sam's sensation that Dean was near and of Dean's images of Sam's life with him were so touching: scraped knees, training wheels, homework, holding on and surviving are words that bring such emotion to the reader. Abe seems to bring out Sam's raw emotions throughout this chapter but yet seems to inject Sam with calming effects as well. Love the subtle way Sam keeps his guard with Abe - unable to look him in the eyes, fearful of what they may tell Abe. The symbolism you present between the wolf, dog and Dean is masterful. The wolf cries for lost spirits to return to earth - both men seem to cry out to each other to keep them grounded --- human. The wolf(Dean), devoted to family, expert hunter and guardian. So touching, so true. The brothers relationship is so dynamic in your writings and this chapter continues that - Dean's need to hear Sam's not going anywhere, the depth of their relationship - the intertwining of their hearts you sybolized in the brothers physical closeness throughout the night, Sam's warmth injecting life back into Dean and into his own self. My heart breaks as you present a chance for Sam's needed abolution from Dean, yet he is denied these words so many times --- each brother needing this absolution as much as the other. Words come so hard to the Winchester's it seems. I enjoyed so much the descriptions of Abe's ancestry, his ties to the past and the earth. We as a people need to learn from these proud, special people, you love and deep respect of these Americans are reflected in your words and heart Gaelic. God Bless, Keep You and Carryon Talented Author, Pookee/Janet
Author's Response: Aw, Pook how I've missed you! I'm go glad life released you long enough to read this chapter. :) I am touched by the time you take to offer me such fantastic feedback and so happy you've enjoyed the story. I am in awe of the Native American people and see any culture rich in tradition (like the Irish Celtic culture which is ingrained in me) to be something that should be respected. I hope that subsequent chapters I write and you read don't let you down. Thank you for spending time with me. Gaelic

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 18/03/08 Title: Chapter 4: Appear Gaelic, This story is a unique look at the men of Winchester, although battling the physical demon at hand, the story excels at its autopsy of the battle both these men have been waging against their own inner demons. Your simplistic words signify the bond between the brothers, however disfunctional the bond evolved, it still provides the foundations for their lives and the demons within. The simple question of "Dean?" followed by "I'm here" speaks of the strength of their bond. The men's need for physical closeness solidifies the bond but also quells a need in them to feel that very bond - to regain the comfort with one another - to trust one another again. One can see through Dean's thoughts, the deep cuts his father inflicted on his sons - duties assessed well beyond their years - Dean watch out for Sammy. Abe mimicks John's authoritativeness through his orders to Dean - "Dean stick with your brother, don't let him out of your sight". Dean again is called upon to be the soldier his father had cultivated, snaps to attention and into focus - Sammy. Again, through all the pain and disappointment these men have been through, their overpowering sense of family and devotion will ride them through the healing process. Sam has memorized Dean's smell, his exact movements, his inner soul extracted from the stories held in Dean's eyes. The healing begins with the men through the simple utterance of "Sorry" and "You don't have to be" - these phrases spoken and heard on a whole different plain than the one they were uttered in. The walls between the two brothers begin to crumble as Dean admits "I'm barely hanging on" and Sam's determination to be his strength. How fitting that the entity they search is a symbol of a childhood lost, innocence destroyed, duty before freedom. The very things these men seek to find, to rebuild, to come to terms with. Abe so dearly achieves what John never could with Sam - civility. He physically reassures Sam that healing will come to those who will let it, that it is possible to forgive without forgetting - and yet not affecting the men's need of each other's love - not to forget in darkness what we learn in the light. Beautiful Gaelic, God Bless and Keep You, Janet
Author's Response: You're gonna make me cry. Not that that's too hard these days, but, I thank you for this. Sincerely. Your reviews are always treasured, Pook. They come from you heart and I know when I read them that you've not only ready my story -- which on it's most basic level is meant to entertain -- but you've also read *me*. And there are elements of each writer in every story, yeah? The childhood lost is something I can relate to -- but you see right through to what I'm intended to tell... the ikiryoh isn't simple the result of an evil spell... it's a symbol of something both Sam and Dean have to come to grips with. And I hope that as I weave the final two chapters, I can bring the paths of this story together to form a journey that was worth your time. Best to you always, Gaelic

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 03/04/08 Title: Chapter 5: Stare Gaelic, I must apologize again for the lateness of the review and for its quality even before I start. Fatigue is beginning to set in and my creativity is waning. Forgive me. This chapter continually examines and force feeds the boys relationship with the reader. The responsibility that Dean must bear - although willingly - now and since Sam was four is heartbreaking. Responsibility levied on Dean as a parental figure yet similiar in age of his charge. This responsibility given to and accepted by Dean - the lifetime of promises made to Sam overwhlems Dean but never beats him. Dean desperately needs someone to take care of him, to guide him and he finds this more and more from Abe. We all have been given roles to perform in life but no matter how strong the will is to bring those roles to fruition, we all physically and mentally stumble, needing help getting to our feet. Dean is no different. The reader can see this as Dean sobs over Sam's pain and allows Abe to help if but for a brief moment, then the soldier returns to complete his mission - protecting Sam. The phrase that Dean relates to "the emptiness felt when you know you are the last in order of importance to someone most important to him" - a child , grown or not, should never have to feel that way, yet many do and never come to terms with it. Dean's fortress seems to be fading - allowing some feeling and needed healing to creep in. The mere act of telling Abe "I need your help" is a great turning point for Dean. Ironic that Dean asks Abe for help - a loner ver similiar to Dean. Dean will hopefully realize he is so important in the lives of many who consider him a parent - Sammy and a son - Bob and Abe. He needs to let himself feel again not just exist. Both Sam and Dean need to forgive themselves before they can truly forgive each other. Hopefully the strength of the people around them will allow for it to happen. This chapter of lost innocence for Claire, for Sam, for Dean begins a new trail as Sam reveals his belief of his responsibility for Dean's pain, Mary's death and John recruitment of Dean ..... and with Dean's plea to Sam to forgive himself. Powerful. God Bless and Keep You, Pook/Janet
Author's Response: Pook, I swear to God every time I get one of your reviews I end up with a lump in my throat. You have the uncanny ability to read between my lines. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 25/04/08 Title: Chapter 6: Glimpse Gaelic, As usual, I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter and again your writing exceeds the mere story, your words evoking a deeper meaning - a deeper focus. You have set within the chapter the Winchesters' standard of loyalty and love. This standard both men will need to remember in order to mend - to feel whole again. The subtle nuances of things remembered by the men strengthen the foundations of their relationship - the loyalty, the love. Sam's remembrance of Dean's pledge to keep him safe to save him is so important in the path to healing. The brothers are truly "each others heartbeat". Their need of each other's touch- both physical and mental - in order to bring them through this ordeal, to feel safe and grounded is staggering. So many people, so many things have been ripped from their lives that each man does not want the other to let go for fear of losing one another. Sam's flashback to when Dean cared for him seems to solidify the foundation of the men's life even more. Almost a complete cycle of life is occurring - the parent rearing the child, allowing the child to mature, to live and finally the child caring for the parent when duty calls. Remembering Dean as the "absolute strength and constant presence" Sam realizes it is his time to return the love and respect that his brother bestowed on him. One can see a metamorphosis within Sam as he finally comes to understand that Dean and John never were far from him. Their frequent clandestined visits to California, his knowledge of John singing to him as a baby. The symbolism of Sam's view of Dean's hands versus his own is so poignant. Sam's are graceful/scarless due to the workings of Dean's sturdy and scarred hands. Sam realizes that his hands, his life has been nothing like Dean's by one reason alone - because of Dean - his love his protection. Your writing allows the reader to see an inner darkness leave Sam as he lets go of the pent up anger he has harbored for so many days, months, years. He doesn't blame Dean, he believes in Dean's words again - believes in his brtoher, totally. The brothers begin a dialog between each other, the stories they need to share - the road back to brotherhood and trust. Wonderful writing, and as usual, piece of your heart embedded in each word. God Bless and Keep You, Janet Author's Response: Pookee, thank you so much for this. As you know, I've been struggling to get back to normal after that unexpected surgery, and have been working on Chapter 8 of this story. Seeing your reaction to this chapter encourages me to push on and write the end as I'd always planned. Thank you for your constant reviews and gracious words. I'm honored that you take time for me -- even before May 1st!! Best to you, Gaelic Summary: Tag For Dream A Little Dream. THE DETAILS OF THE COUPLE'S RELATIONSHIP, THE LITTLE STOLEN MOMENTS BETWEEN THEM, THE RAW EMOTION BOTH CHARACTERS EMIT ARE WHAT DRAWS THE READERS TO YOUR WORK. I CERTAINLY ENJOY THE SLOW PACE OF THE STORY. I COMPARE IT TO A LITTLE "FOREPLAY" BEFORE "CONSUMATION" LOL. LOVE THE CHAPTER AS IT SUBTLY SLAPS DEAN INTO REALITY - ALLOWING HIM TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE TRULY CARE FOR AND ABOUT HIM AND HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH SARA. HE TRULY HAS AN EXTENDED FAMILY - FROM SARA'S BROTHER TOM - THE SWIFT HUG, PROVIDING FOOD AND COFFEE - THE NURSE BRINGING HIM A CHANGE OF CLEAN CLOTHES, SAMMY'S TELEPHONE CALL TO WORRIED FAMILY MEMBERS - TRULY DEAN DOES HAVE A FAMILY. I CERTAINLY LOVE TOM'S DESCRIPTION OF JACK - LOYAL, BRAVE, STUBBORN - WAS HE TALKING ABOUT JACK OR DEAN? YOU ALWAYS CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF SHARING YOUR HEART WITH SOMEONE BY MERE TOUCHES, THE SOUND OF THEIR VOICE, THE INABILITY TO DENY THEM ANYTHING. YOUR WRITING OF THESE LOVERS TRULY MUST BE AN EXTENSION OF YOUR OWN RELATIONSHIP AND AS A WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN MARRIED FOR TWENTY THREE YEARS AND STILL MY HUSBAND AND I LAUGH AND LOVE AS WE DID ON OUR HONEYMOON - I CAN SAY YOU ARE TRULY BLESSED. Your writing has the reader feeling they are not an outsider looking in but as if they are there in the lovers heads. This couple is truly meant for each other - Dean's constant presence and strength, always there for Sara, always drawing her into his "safety". In one paragraph about Sara, you discribed her lines about her sparkling eyes in such a way that I thought my husband wrote those words. So many times as I have stated "I look like the crypt keeper!", my husband will reply with love those exact words. Your writing masters the artform - delicately turning up the "heat" of the couples intimate moments without stepping over the line into more graphic territory, leaving your readers a little breathless and always wanting more. Beautiful, Pook Author's Response: Pook, I LOVE your reviews, they always make me feel so warm and tingly ;) Glad you enjoyed Sara and Dean, I always have so much fun writing the two of them together. And as you've probably realized I don't do graphic....lol. I'm just one that likes to let the readers imagination fill in the details ;) Catch you on the next one - Kel ;)

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 06/06/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Bayre, What a wonderful take on Dean's "Resurrection". You've nailed so many of the nuances of Dean's character - his ability/his need to "lean" on Bobby, telling Sam he sent him "Home" and his never ending need to see and feel Sam. You present an interesting thought with regard to Dean's torture and duration in Hell - time spent while only a week in Hell seemed like decades for Dean. Also compelling is the effects of the torture on Dean while in Hell - something Dean will push to the background and move Sam to the foreground. You've presented an interesting question - although Hell definitely put Dean through torturous pain and loneliness, Hell's angels unwittingly may have given Dean more power and weapons to wage the Winchester War. Dean seems to have a new sixth sense about him, an unspoken knowledge of things surrounding him, of things Hell has given up to him and Dean seems to have a renewed energy to defend "what is his Sam and so much more." I love the fact that Dean's body vanished after death -- makes his return that much more conceivable. Also love his response to Ruby's question of being one of them now. Great. Always enjoy your truly talented work. Carry On, Pook Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind, and well thought out comments. Laura Summary:

The subject of Dean's having to provide for Sam when John was gone for lengths of time always left a dark question in my mind. You have intelligently wandered in as a fly on the wall and peeled back John and Dean's layers of hurt and guilt for all of us to see. Wonderful and insightful writing. Pook Author's Response: Hi Sorry for the delay in replying, glad that you stopped and reviewed my little story and that you are enjoying this. Mary x |
