Date: 14/11/07 Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8 bayre, I love the tranformation you're making within Sam. It leaves the reader not knowing whether Sam's actions/reactions stem from his need to keep Dean safe from additional harm or to keep himself free of additional abuse. I think its a combination of both. Love the way you captures the true essence of Dean's character within this story: bleeding skin, injured wrist, elbow, shoulder and hand, all around beat to hell - yet no complaints just utter and complete worry for and allegiance to Sam. Date: 11/01/08 Title: Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Bayre, Such a perfect description of Dean, Sam and the brother's pure devotion to one another. Sam truly is Dean's foundation and motivation - nothing they wouldn't do for each other. It's together they live or together they will die. The writing in this chapter is so full of imagery, each syllable building upon the next. Each layer building those disturbing questions within Dean's mind about Sam. The filth of Sam's condition and surroundings, Sam's not wanting Dean to touch him- to become "unclean", the disturbing decription of Sam's bruising and Sam's denials. Those words brutally yet simplistically pace out Dean's agony. Yet we are brought back - Dean's calming "Its OK Kiddo", "It'll All Washoff" - Dean's strength and bond with Sam emanating from the words "Not a thing you can't tell me, we can't talk about, work through" ...... Date: 05/05/08 Title: Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Bayre, Life has kept me from reviewing the last few chapters, but she has now seen fit to give me a few fleeting free moments. The ending - this chapter - captures so many feelings and nuances of the boys relationship that it breaks your heart at times and at times makes you smile. Dean's overprotectiveness of Sam - his unwillingness to leave Sam in the car alone was spot on to Dean's character. The boys understanding between each other, no secrets, no blame for what happened at the "pen", Sam's reassurance to Dean that he did nothing wrong, his and Sam's self-preservation and Sam's reassurance to Dean that his abouse at the hands of his caputres was all psychological and physical but not sexual abuse. These reassurances the boys needed to verbalize, to wrap themselves around, to heal. Date: 25/11/07 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Lost In The Memories Terry, Been reading "Candle" since you first posted but, alas, haven't reviewed! My name is Pookee and I am a lurker!! I have a tendency not to review the stories written by the administrators, except one and she knows who she is. I guess I feel not worthy of reviewing the works of such talented storytellers. Well, you called the lurkers out, so here is goes. I sincerely enjoy the vividness of your descriptions in which you always seem to enjoy providing to the reader with ghoulish pictures and situations. The knashing of teeth on Dean's arm due to a disembodied head - priceless. I sat reading that part with mouth hanging open. The truly memorable writings of this site always capture the chemistry between the boys -- the foul mouthed, smart ass, lady loving Dean or the sensible, caring and recently bad assed Sam. This chemistry, you always seem to caputure perfectly, being it traveling up a mountain road in Moon Star or in the flood waters of Candle! Carry On Wayward Author, Pook
