Author's Response: Thanks so much, glad you liked. Laura Summary:
Still reeling from the revelation of Dean's deal and Sam's resurrection, the brothers hunt down the Hell Gate demons. But one hunt sends them to a place where secrets kill, sins are punished, and Sam and Dean feel the impact of an ageless war. Co-written by Gaelicspirit and Sojourner84. Banner by Sojourner84 As a thank you, Sojourner has created a vid for this story, set to Breaking Benjamin's "Evil Angel." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 17/09/07 Title: Chapter 4: Thursday: Sloth Gaelic & Sojourner, Just finished "sloth". The chapters keep getting better and better. The "slow burn" between the Brothers is skillfully weaved. It's satisfying to get an insight into how the "deal with Dean's demon" effects Sam, as well as Dean. The smoldering of emotions taken to the boiling point was spot on - by both of you - with masterful writing. As usual, the humor that all of us enjoy between the Brothers on the screen is utilized by you both perfectly within your storytelling. The story in itself, is in true old-fashioned "who-done-it" vain with a Demon kick. Love the lead in to the "Lust" chapter - something tells me this is right up Dean's alley. WARNING: Please, read this review quickly - you never know when some "idiot" will delete it. **I'm so not worthy**. Carry on talented authors! Pook Author's Response: Pook! It's you! *does dance* I love the use of "slow burn" as a description of what we're attempting to do with the boys... it's very accurate. :) Thanks so much for taking time to review and read. And we're both so glad that you are enjoying the dialog -- we work really hard on that. :) And the worthiness of you is not to be questioned. We all have our moments. We're just glad you came back!! Now... back to Lust... ahem. Slainte, GS and SJ

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 02/10/07 Title: Chapter 5: Friday: Lust GAELIC & SOJOURNER, GOD, I HAVE THIS SUDDEN URGE TO DANCE WITH A SMART-ASS WINCHESTER! WHEW! LET ME COMPOSE MYSELF! THERE, THAT'S BETTER. THERE'S SO MANY LAYERS TO THIS CHAPTER: DEAN'S GROWING REALIZATION OF LOSING HIS SOUL, LIFE --- SAMMY; DEAN & SAM SOUNDING MORE AND MORE LIKE AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE (I KNOW- I'VE BEEN "BLISSFULLY" MARRIED FOR TWENTY THREE YEARS), DEAN'S TREATMENT OF WOMEN AND OF COURSE, THE BOYS FIGHT WITH THE "WINGED" BASTARD FROM HELL. THE SYMBOLISM WITHIN THE STORYLINE IS HAUNTING. DEAN'S AWARENESS OF THE REALITY OF HIS "DEAL" IS PERFECTLY PORTAYED THROUGH THE FIRE IN HIS DREAMS AND IN REALITY THAT NIP AT HIS HEELS, DEAN'S FEELING OF SECURE PLACES ARE CLOSING IN AROUND HIM, THE WATER IN THE SHOWER TRYING TO WASH AWAY THE FEELINGS. THE DIALOG BETWEEN SAM & DEAN REGARDING DEAN'S ALCOHOL INTAKE, CAFFEINE INTAKE AND FOOD INTAKE IS PRICELESS. THE RELATIONSHIP REMINDS ME OF A NEWS STORY FROM YEARS AGO ABOUT AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE - THE WIFE SHOT HER HUSBAND BECAUSE HE ATE THE LAST CHOCOLATE EASTER BUNNY! I CAN SEE THAT SAM AND DEAN MAY BE FOLLOWING THAT CHOCOLATE BUNNY TALE TO CLOSELY! HONESTLY, THE BANTER BETWEEN THE TWO BOYS AS IS HYSTERICAL AT TIMES AND HEARTBREAKING AT OTHERS. YOU TWO COMPLETELY CAPTURE WHY THERE ARE SO MANY DEAN GIRLS OUT THERE - SAM'S WORDS SAY EVERYTHING "WHEN DEAN IS WITH A WOMAN, FOR THAT MOMENT, THE WOMAN IS HIS WORLD. (SIGH). FINALLY, THE ENDING - THE WINGS, THE FIRE, THE BLACKNESS, THE PAIN.... DEAN STATING HE WAS GOING TO BURN AND .... SAM STATING "I DIDN'T LET YOU. I WON'T LET YOU" THAT SAYS IT ALL. BRILLIANT AS USUAL, CARRY ON, POOK Author's Response: Hello there, Pook! Thanks for giving us a read -- we always appreciate hearing from you. Look forward to it, even. :) I love your take on Sam and Dean's banter -- the 'old married couple' routine. When you live in each other's pocket like that, you're bound to get some familiarity, yeah? Rest assured, we don't plan on having the brother's shoot each other. Well, not over chocolate bunnies, anyway... ::wink:: I absolutely LOVE that you called out the symbolism. There are some things that we do purposely, and some things that just happy and when we read over the chapter as a full piece each time we're both surprised at what we see has been teased out of each other's heads. And we're certainly glad you agree about Dean's focus. There is so much heat in those eyes... he coulda lit that apartment on fire himself if he wanted. Or... not. But you get the idea. :) Thanks again so much! We look forward to seeing what you think of the rest... Slainte, Gaelic and SJ

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 31/10/07 Title: Chapter 6: Saturday: Envy Gaelic & So, I'm starting to feel like an alligator waiting for food to fall into the swamp! I surf and surf the "JUST ADDED" list until ... the alligator finds the food --- Chapter 6 of Sunday Bloody Sunday! You two made my weekend. There's sooo much going on within this chapter. The message will stick with me just as "Houses of the Holy" did with the dissection of Sam's belief then disbelief and with Dean's disbelief then belief. For some reason, I find comfort with that episode just as I know comfort will come to both boys in your coming chapter. Again the writing excels -- I lose myself within the images your writing conjure, I lose myself in the dialog between the boys, but mostly I lose myself within the subtext always expertly weaved into your words. Both of you did not let the reader down. Within the story, it seems Dean has accepted his destiny with hell from the moment the deal was made but it doesn't mean it isn't constantly, incessently clawing at his brain - his claustrophobia in his room (hell), the fire and his physical burning (hell). I find it interesting how Sam sees the deal materializing, growing ever more real, tangilble -- seeing Dean hanging above the fire (hell), watching his father's body burning (hell) and the realization that one deal will take Dean, his hero, his protector, from him. Take him to hell just as the fallen angel has stripped Sam's belief from him. But the question remains: as Dean sees Sam's last defense from evil, something he needs so desparately when Sam is on his own, alone torn from him -- will Dean pull Sam from the "fire" or will Sam pull Dean. Who will be whose angel? I can't help but see the parallels between the fallen angel and Sam. The fallen angel lost his "faith" as he watched, protected, fought for the ever failing mankind yet never received accolades and praise. This parallels with Sam who questions with all the good they have done in his and Dean's lives, all the evil they have destroyed, all the prayers Sam has prayed but has received no thanks, no saving Dean from his deal, no saving Mom, Jess and Dad. Dean, the so-called non-believer, realizes we all fall even God's messengers - be it angelic or human. He realizes that with intervention from God, belief in God, the power of God must be held on to for Sam's sake, it for nothing else, belief in something as simple as blessed water can battle evil - can save - and something a simple as a human can be a saving angel. Carry on oh so talented authors! Pook ***Favorite phrase of the chapter**** "wireless pirate whore" Author's Response: Hiya Pook! First, your favorite phrase? The magic of SJ's subtle humor. :) She's awesome at that. This review blew me away. The layers that you dig out from our planning and our thought processes... it's as if you've been watching the plot development all this time! I read this with chills -- literal chills. As for the question of who will be whose angel? For SJ and I, that answer was clear from the moment we began our outline. We hope the end result works for you because it was very fitting for us. My favorite thing you've said is about Dean, our resident "non-believer," believing in the power of his brother's faith. That was the one thing I held on to while writing my parts of this chapter. When it comes to "faith"... I personally think there are all kinds and even those who claim that they don't -- or can't -- believe in God, believe in something. They have to in order to survive. ::steps off soapbox:: Thanks so much, again, for your thoughtful review. We truly hope that Sunday's chapter entertains you. Slainte, Gaelic (and SJ)

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 17/12/07 Title: Chapter 7: Sunday: Wrath GAELIC & SOJOURNER, MERRY CHRISTMAS! THIS CHAPTER TRULY IS A MASTERPIECE. ALL THE UNDERLYING ISSUES THAT THE BOYS HAVE HAD SIMMERING THROUGHOUT THIS STORY AND ALL THE TENSIONS FELT AND WEAVED WITHIN EACH CHAPTER HAVE SOME FULL CIRCLE TO BRING THE BOYS TO "SUNDAY". ALL THE EMOTIONAL SOUL SEARCHING OF THE PRIOR CHAPTERS MASTERFULLY STRENGTHEN THE BONDS THAT HOLD THESE BROTHERS TOGETHER. THIS CHAPTER'S WORDS SEEM TO FLOW LIKE A RIVER, WINDING ITS WAY TO ITS ULTIMATE DESTINATION, ALMOST CHALLENGING THE READER TO FIND A GREATER MEANING. BOTH BROTHERS DESPARATELY WANT TO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING...SOMEONE. DEAN FINALLY UNDERSTANDS THAT SAM'S BELIEF NEEDS TO BE ROOTED IN HIM. SAM NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND THAT DEAN ALWAYS HAD FAITH IN SAM, ALWAYS NEEDED FAITH-FAITH IN SAM. SAM EXCLAIMATION ..."I ALWAYS NEEDED YOU, DEAN"... BEGINS BUILDING A FOUNDATION OF NEW FAITH BETWEEN THE BROTHERS AND A HIGHER POWER. THE REBUILDING OF SAM'S FAITH SLOWING TRAVELS A PATH IN THIS CHAPTER. HE SEES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "US" AND "THEM" -- MERCY -- THE START OF THE REBUILDING. SAM REALIZES THAT HE IS NOW AND ALWAYS DEAN'S TOUCHSTONE - HIS HUMANITY. CONTINUES TO REBUILD. SAM'S INNER TURMOIL, HIS WANT TO BELIEVE, BELIEVE IN DEAN, BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE THAT HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR DEAN LIKE DEAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE FOR HIM IS QUELLED BY DEAN'S EXCLAIMATION "YOU ARE MY FAITH". THIS CHAPTER LIKENS TO THE TEMPTATION OF CHRIST, EVIL ALMOST SEDUCING SAM THROUGH ZEROING IN ON HIS WEAKNESS, LOSING DEAN AND EXPLOITING THAT WEAKNESS. TO BREAK DOWN SAMS WALLS ... HIS FAITH. BUT SAM WON OVER HIS BATTLE WITH THE FALLEN ANGEL, HIS SHEAR AGONY REPLACED BY THE ECTASY OF HIS FAITH, FAITH IN DEAN AND IN GOD. HIS TRUE PRAYER, ALL FOR DEAN, BROUGHT SAM BACK TO HIS FAITH FOUNDATION AND HEALING BOTH DEAN AND SAM PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY IN THE PROCESS. AS A SIDE BAR TO THE MAIN STORY, I LOVE THE USE OF "DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP, I AM NOT THERE, I DO NOT SLEEP". THESE WORDS SO TOUCHED ME, SO SIMPLE, YET POWERFUL. SINCE THE DAY OF MY MOTHERS DEATH, I HAVE NOT VISITED HER GRAVE. MANY PEOPLE THINK I'M HARSH BUT I KNOW AND HAVE SEEN OVER HER FINAL DAYS OF LIFE THAT HER FINAL RESTING PLACE IS IN WITH THE LORD AND NOT ON EARTH. THESE WORDS CAPTURE THOSE FEELINGS SP PLAINLY. THANKS TO YOU BOTH AND CARRY ON, POOK Author's Response: Pookee -- you don't know how happy you made us with this review. Not only that it is YOU who reviewed (because just yesterday we were wondering if we might have lost you...) but also what you said. You "got" it... you got what we were working toward throughout this whole hellish week for the boys. You saw our light and you captured it in these words. I hope you don't pull this review ever, ever because I want to be able to return to it and feel that lump in my throat again as I do this morning. Faith is such a personal subject. It's so hard to hold onto everyday. It's a daily choice for some. For me. And yet, it's also a constant -- a beat in the background of our lives that we don't always realize is there. And as SJ and I each took our own journey through writing this story--this chapter in particular--we both saw our faith as Sam and Dean did. Whether in a higher power, inside of us, or in another person, we both confronted that a bit. It's amazing to me that writing a story can do that to one, y'know? Thank you for seeing what we hoped some would see, and for laying it out there for us. I could hug you right now. :) As far as the poem, I have a copy of that taped (along with about a million other quotes) to my desk. It's something that alternately makes me want to cry with longing and smile with silent encouragement at different moments in my life. I empathize with your not visiting your mother's grave, because for you, what would be the purpose when she's not there? Thanks for sharing that. And for reading. And for reviewing. Most of all, thanks for spending time with us. Both SJ and I appreciate it more than you know. Merry Christmas!! Gaelic (and Sojourner)

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 23/01/08 Title: Chapter 8: Benediction GAELIC & SOJOURNER, SIMPLY A MAJESTIC PIECE OF WORK! AGAIN, EVERY WORD IN THIS CHAPTER CHOSEN FOR A REASON. WHERE DO I BEGIN? JUST A SIMPLE PHRASE AS "DEAN STUMBLED" SPEAKS VOLUMES. WE ALL STUMBLE AT SOME POINT IN OUR LIVES AND GOD IS THERE (IF WE LISTEN) TO HELP US UP. THE LORD STUMBLED ON HIS WAY TO CALVERY AND WAS HELPED BY A BELIEVER. THE STORY SO SIMPLY YET INTENSLY EXAMINES THE GROWTH AND HEALING PROCESS OF DEAN'S FAITH: HIS NEED TO BE CLOSE TO HIS FAITH...SAM! HIS NEED TO PHYSICALLY FEEL HIS FAITH...SAM! HIS NEED TO HEAR THE SOUNDS OF HIS FAITH...SAM! AS ONE OF FAITH, I BELIEVE GOD WILL PROVIDE EVEN IN THE SMALLEST OF WAYS...THE SIMPLE UTTERANCE BY DEAN THAT THEY WOULD GET NEW WEAPONS....SOMEWHERE - IS THEN ANSWERED LATER WITH THE GIFT OF THE KATANA. SAM SEEMS TO BE SPIRITUALLY HEALING AS WELL AS DEAN THROUGHOUT THIS CHAPTER. HIS REFLECTION OF HIS OWN PRAYER GOING FROM DID TO DO. THE IMAGERY OF DEAN HAVING NO OPEN WOUNDS SO POIGNANTLY SUGGEST HIS SPIRITUAL HEALING AT WORK, HIS UTTERANCE OF "IT COULD HAVE BEEN GOD" "I ALWAYS WANTED TO BELIEVE"... HEALING. DEAN SEES SAM AS HIS SAVIOR AND THE HEALING PROCESS CONTINUES THRU SAM HIS ROCK OF FAITH. DEAN CAN BELIVE IN GOD WITHOUT SEEING GOD BUT HE SEES SAM. BOTH BROTHERS COME FULL CIRCLE REALIZING THEY ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FIGHT, THERE IS A GUARDIAN FOR THEM, STANDING BY THEM ON A HIGHER PLAIN GIVING THEM HOPE AND THUS CLARITY OF FAITH. THROUGH THIS STORY DEAN HAS STUMBLED BUT HIS SOUL IS NOT LOST, HE CAN BEGIN TO REBUILD HIS OWN TRUE FAITH...TO BEGIN HIS ASCENT FROM HELL. A SECOND CHANCE, A GIFT FROM GOD...A BENEDICTION TO A GUARDIAN, A WARRIOR READY TO ALWAYS SACRIFICE. THE BROTHERS HAVE TRULY BE SHOWN MERCY AND ARE INDEED BLESSED. I GIVE TO BOTH OF YOU MY HEARTFELT THANKS. YOUR WORDS HAVE TRULY INSPIRED ME TO ASSESS MY OWN FAITH AND WALK FORWARD HOPEFULLY A BETTER PERSON. GOD BLESS AND KEEP BOTH OF YOU. POOK Author's Response: Pook -- this is a phenominal review. You brought tears to my eyes. Than you for seeing the story through our eyes. When you got the connection with the katana I had chills. One verse from my childhood in Sunday School sticks to the flypaper in my brain: "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." To attempt to write a supernaturally-based story and imbue it with true faith was an undertaking SJ and I really wanted to attempt, but didn't know if we could pull off. We had no idea, either, how doing so would affect each of us along the way. To see that this story has touched you like this gives me the reassurance needed that we did something right. Thank you for spending time with us, for your reviews, for your words, and for having faith. :) Best always, Gaelic and SJ Summary:

Thanks so much for reading. I really enjoy writing past and present together 'cause it means I get to tease for awhile longer - the problem with this story is keeping present day Dean's thoughts in check so he doesn't ruin the big punchline >:) And I really love writing the dialogue, I find it a lot easier to write 'cause I can be really bad at describing things (I still need to broaden my vocabularly). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 25/11/07 Title: Chapter 7: Waiting Rae, This story is truly coming together as your finest work yet. All your stories faithfully incorporate the same smart-ass dialog between Dean and Sam that we all love so much (Nurse Nightmare LOL) but this time you managed to take the reader to an insight of John Winchester that we haven't been exposed to prior --- John's facade of strength giving way to the realization of the reality of having been close to losing his eldest. "The Dean" in the story is spot on as usual -- ever the unwavering guardian of all innocents -- willing to put himself in harms way for the benefit of a child. What a man! *sighs* The story keeps on giving, aside from the supernatural being's battle with Dean, you opened the door to the amulets's backstory and a new little tesser - the Harvelle incident. You are quickly emerging as one of the truly gifted authors of this site. Carry on, Pook Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's always great to hear from you. This particularly story is probably one of my more thought out ones and switching between timelines allows for slightly lengthier chapters, so in a way I'm cheating >:) As for the dialogue, I really enjoy writing it... I enjoy writing it all, he he, but particularly the dialogue. I also like the opportunitu to include John and show others that I don't think he was all that bad. :) Thank you sooo much for your kind words and encouragement. They really do mean so much to me. -Rae!

THIS ONE CERTAINLY WAS. I LIKE THE COMPARISON BETWEEN JOHN'S UNTRUTHFULNESS/VAGUENESS WITH THE 18 YEAR OLD DEAN REGARDING THE DEATH OF THE "MONSTER" AND WITH DEAN'S TRUTHFULNESS WITH STUART REAGRDING THE SAME MATTER. COMPLETE OPENESS VS VEILED LIES. THIS CHAPTER AGAIN PEEKS AT DEAN'S LACK OF SELF WORTH IN SO MANY SUBTLE WORDS: "IT'S NOT LIKE I NEED IT", "YEAH WELL, BETTER ME", "WAS DAD REALLY THAT DISAPPOINTED IN ME". GREAT CHAPTER. CARRY ON, POOK Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it. It is strange how different Dean and John are even though there's so many similarities between them. And then Dean's low self worth... poor guy. Thank you so much for reading!

One can see so many similiarities between John of days past and of Dean of today. The deep sense of duty to save others, self - deprecation and sense of guilt. Your words truly give the reader insight into Dean's psyche. Great, Pook Author's Response: Thanks so much for reading! But one theme seems to come to the forefront - Dean will not make the same mistakes that his father did - he will stop Halloway and will not allow Stuart to be used as he was. As usual, great parallels between past and present. Carry On, Pook Author's Response: Thank you again! :D Dean definately doesn't want to make the same mistakes and will go to great lengths to avoid it happening. Even when Dean is eighteen his thoughts were always on Sam - when waking from a fitful sleep his thoughts were "where's Sam?" And true to form, the eighteen year old Dean still was pontificating - "you better have left some hot water!". But as much as Dean has stayed the same over the years, he definitely has changed, evolved - his dealing with Halloway has definitely stepped up a peg from his earlier dealings with him. Dean is taking no prisoners nor crap when it comes to the older hunter, who is definitely giving Gordon Walker a run for his money as "king of the dirt bags!. Love your writing and carry on, Pook Author's Response: Thank you so much yet again. I always love reading your indepth reviews, they mean so much to me. It's a great opportuinity being able to write Dean at a young age whilst also following a similar storyline with the present older Dean. So I'm really glad you like it so far. And Halloway, it's fun writing him as the bad guy. Thanks again!

It is certainly a far different Dean that Halloway encounters in the Present! Carry on talented author - love the Pharoah's Son twist too. Pook Author's Response: Thank you so much once more. he he. Halloway is set on using Dean, in the past and in the present but in the present it's gonna be under Dean's condition.. :) And Pharoah's Son, finally had to give the thing some sort of name, lol. So I chose that. Thanks again! Summary: All Sam wants are a few easy hunts to keep Dean occupied. It does start out that way, but if you take two Winchesters, add two young ladies, stir in an old, old threat, and add a pinch of visions, what sifts out isn't going to be sugar cookies. Now it will take help for both to survive, and asking for help just isn't easy... Spoilers through the end of season 2.

[SEQUEL TO DIMENSIONS] Sam tried to tell himself it was nothing at first, just his imagination; but more often than not Dean was shutting the laptop when he entered the room, taking off to undisclosed areas of the library during research lulls, and staring off into space in deep thought when he thought Sam wasn't paying attention. Sam was no idiot; Dean was hiding something. After Anna's death in April, Dean is more than messed up. But what if death is only one-dimensionsal? Can Dean fight the curses that seem to follow him and the ones he loves, or will he learn too late that all of them are meant to be damned?
