You gave a Dean a great dilemma - I loved his reasongs -- save Sam, but his life will be spent taking care of Dean. Let him die - no. But Dean is only human, so he has to think - at least for a little while about HIS life and what it would mean. Dying is "easy" - quick - life paralyzed is so different. Wonderful idea for a story.
