I'm glad you're enjoying the story so much. This didn't come directly from Saw per se - just the idea of it, the concept of making someone decide on their own life versus someone else's. If you haven't made it that far yet, you'll see in later chapters just where the final decision comes into play. I've teamed up with another author who sweet-talked me into doing an alternate ending second story.
