“In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant." - Elwood P. Dowd, Harvey

Follow your muse. If it delights your heart then it is worthwhile.

I have now been writing these stories for seven years!  And to think, I always thought writing was too hard.  I'd never written anything before I became mesmerized by Supernatural and a certain Dean Winchester. I love exploring Dean's psyche and watching JA portray all the diverse facets of his intricate personality.

I love John Winchester and miss him terribly. He is alive and well in many of my Wee!chester fics and I hope he returns to the show soon in some capacity.  In the meantime, I am loving Bobby.  The boys need a father figure to turn to on occasion.

I love Sam more every day and I am beginning to understand him better and hopefully I do him justice in my fics.  It is the relationships between Dean and Sam, and sometimes Dad or Bobby that makes this show special.

I love seeing Sam and Dean interact with other characters.  Love the bond between Cas and Dean, love the loyalty and brotherly spirit between Dean and Benny.  I want Dean to have other friends and allies he can count on.

And I love the 'evil' recurring characters that test the brothers.  Loved Gordon, love Crowley and I do love how Death sets Dean back on his heals.  It's rare to see a character that intimidates Dean, even though he's loathe to admit it.

But Sam and Dean are and always will be the center of the Supernatural universe.  That's just the way it is and should be!

Family ~ brothers united together to fight the evil in the world.   It doesn't get any better than this!

Previously my creative outlets were music and photography. Now I spend my time writing Winchester stories!

Hey, I thought you wrote a lovely story, totally unexpected but happy and that's what we all want for our Winchesters this Christmas.

You nicely tied in the mistletoe to all three memories and showed how Dean matured over the years.  It was really nice to see him play matchmaker.

Don't get discouraged from a lack of reviews, there are so many stories out there and just not enough time to read them all.  Myself, I hardly read anything now, spend way too much time writing my own stories and it is definitely my loss, missing out on so many terrific stories.

If writing is your passion then keep doing it, your talents will grow and your stories will find an audience.  Just enjoy writing for its own sake and the pleasure it brings you.

Have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the holidays.  And don't worry about being shy, remember Jensen is known for his shyness and he doesn't let that stop him, he just goes after what he wants and works his way thru it.  I know it is hard, but in a way the internet is a huge help, you can express yourself without having to physically face someone.  Just remember that everyone has their own priorities and sometimes good stories get lost in the massive offerings.

Take care, B.J.

Author's Response:

Many thanks for the rating and the comments.  I admit I was only waiting until the winner had been announced then was going to delete this...but your kind words are encouraging and a great Christmas present,

Merry Christmas, Jacq

Personally, I find it really hard to write a tag for a perfect episode, and LR was perfect in every way.  And yet, now I know what I was missing.  I love Bobby, and you and he have a colorful way of expressing all the love he has for Dean and hurt he went through when he lost him.

I most especially liked the comment about Dean's eyes, "It didn't hide the understanding in his eyes, and damn if I hadn't missed that. I've never seen someone so guarded, so locked down who can't hide a thing behind his eyes from the people who know him."

That perfectly describes how Jensen brings Dean to life through his eyes.  Thanks for a wonderful read.  B.J.

Author's Response:

I loved LR, and honestly hadn't thought about doing a tag for it. Then I saw that look on Bobby's face when Sam and Dean hug and it's so open, so unguarded that it got me thinking. So I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks for reading,

Cal

As much as I love S4, this is what is missing.  Thank goodness for fanfics, right?  I totally agree, Dean is strong, but we are talking forty years in Hell.  This is more realistic than him simply having a few flashes and then flashing his own smile and insisting he is all right.  Dean is far from all right.

And I love how Sam is here, protective, caring, again...what we are so missing on the show.  You did a great job portraying both brothers and their pain.  Thanks for a terrific read, B.J.

Author's Response: I guess what bothers me is the writers seem almost reluctant to commit to Dean's tormented soul.  They write him as they always did, then remember 'oh yeah, he's been in hell' so they have to make SAM point it out 'man, the nightmares, the drinking...'  Sam shouldn't have to wave the flag at it for us.  I have issues, I know.

I wrote a long, detailed review and this stupid computer lost it... First off, sorry it is taking me so long to read, I'm finally getting a chapter a day in on my lunch break at work.  That certainly gives me some much needed relaxation.

I love how you write the Wee!chesters.  The flashback layers in so much depth, not to mention reminding us of their close bond.  I love big brother Dean looking out for Sammy, ensuring he not disappoint their dad when John starts his gun lessons.

And I love that Dean is the teacher and that little bro, Sammy, is listening and learning from Dean's experience and know-how.  Their conversations were spot-on and I could picture the entire scene in my head.

The pencil bit was unusual but so cool.  I've been around guns my entire life and never heard of that one, but I ran it by my brother-in-law and he gave the thumbs up on all the technical stuff.  And while Dean gave Sam a lot of practical info, you made it flow and not seem like technical stuff.  Not an easy thing to do, but you did it!

And then all that brotherly concern is there, both in the flashback and in the peril they are in now.  Loved how you brought that out and kept up the suspense of how they were going to get Dean out of there.  Poor boy needs a soft bed!

Fantastic job, a truly enjoyable and educational read.  Take care, B.J.

Hey, Cookie!  Sorry it is taking me so long to read and review, dang all that RL crap!

You had a tough chapter, detailing the lore and what the boys were facing, but you did a great job of setting the scene and getting us to wonder what has upset this creature and brought it back to its killing ways.

And the brotherly concern is front and center while Dean's injuries seem worse and worse.  Yep, they are in a shit-load of trouble!  Great job, B.J.

Author's Response:

Thank you, BJ. Don't you just hate that RL gets in the way of fantasy!?!Sure cramps our style!

I am basking in the glory of your praise. It was great fun to to get stuck into the lore and see how it panned out in the Winchester's voices and sticky predicament. And brotherly concern is a bit addictive. Thanks for your lovely comment.

Hey, Birdy!

What a joy to revisit this chapter!  You set up the action perfectly for my chapter, so thanks!  I could picture the boys throughout.

I really love the Space Coyote gag, gave me another reference in my chapter.  And the worry, snark and brotherly love are all evident.  I just love putting the boys in these situations and then just sitting back and watching how they deal.  And it is just like watching an episode, all the Sam-worry and the Dean-smartass, and then I love that Dean is trying to play mediator and keep Sam from getting them in deeper.

And the very real image of Dean succumbing to the cold and Sam's frustration at not being able to get this Trickster to cooperate comes through clearly.  Tony sure is annoying, but still amusing in his weird way.

Great job!  Thanks for giving me so much to work with in my chapter.  Later, B.J.

Author's Response:

Hi BJ,

Thanks so much for a lovely detailed review.  I'm glad my chapter gave you something to work with.  Only so much to do in a pitch black cave, eh?  Although most of us wouldn't mind being stuck in there with a Winchester for company.

I love a morally ambiguous foil for the brothers and Tricksters are just that.

I feel like a quaterback who threw a pass and watched his wide-receiver run the length of the field to make a touchdown.  Way to go, Sharron!

I love how you handled the Winchesters' Magical Mystery Tour.  I've read this chapter several times now and I still get a thrill.  The reader totally buys that the dream is real until it suddenly isn't.  Great job with that.

And I love all the voices whispering, Help us.  And how eerie scary is it when they find a mound of skulls and bones?  You opened the story right up and I can't wait to see where the other writers take it.

And while we've witnessed Dean's agony of losing Sammy on the show, you matched it with your version.  And the quiet way you left Sam's version of the dream to speculation makes it resonate for Sam too.  Just the small comments and the looks away tell the tale, Sam endured the same anguish as Dean.  Oh, these poor, poor boys.

What a treat that our chapters ended up back to back.  And you took the story places I'd never imagined.

I hope you had a great holiday.  I finally got a borrowed laptop and intermintent internet service.  That's halfway there.  Later, B.J.

Author's Response:

Yay for the borrowed laptop!

Well you really did give me a lot to work with in your chapter - Stoned!Dean in particular!  I'm glad it wasn't obvious from the start that Dean was dreaming, even when he found Sam dead.  I probably would have put in an explanation of what Sam dreamed about if I'd had a longer word limit, but as it stands, I think it actually works better leaving it to the readers' imagination.  I definitely think Sam's dream would have been along a similar line to Dean's.

Glad you managed to get the chance to read it and comment!

This story is perfection!  I love how you wrote both Cas and Dean, their conversation brilliantly capturing their essence, how they talk and how they think.

This line is so intuitive: "Dean will either believe him and keep on fighting for another day; or he will not and still fight for another day."  That sums up Dean and his approach to life.

This was a wonderful read, I could totally picture Misha and Jensen and truly wish Kripke had been able to include this in the episode.  Reading this story fulfilled all needs that the show left unanswered.

Excellent work! Take care, B.J.
