You are so good at seeing inside of Dean and revealing his pain, that gaping hole in his gut. Writers really do use personal experience to help them capture feelings.

I think we all knew the Impala was a metaphor for the broken Dean and at first I thought this story was an obvious extension of that, but I was wrong.

You really delved deep into it and beautifully revealed all the issues Dean was dealing with. I loved how he was rebuilding his walls and then how Sam made them all crumple to his feet internally.

Sam never sees how his words affected Dean, but you showed what was in his heart. I especially liked when you said how Dean regretted saying it was too little, too late. We know Dean loves Sammy and to see him unable to show that love and comfort his brother like he always has, is what truly shows how broken and lost Dean was.

Great job again. I really like your descriptive style, just enough to let us into his mind and heart but not overwhelming and distracting. Perfect job. Another for my favorites. Later, B.J.

Simply beautiful. I think you did a great job with this. I too always hated Sam for saying that to Dean.  This story is a perfect example of what a missing scene should be.

I guess to be charitable you could say Sam was hurting and simply didn't think, but still the look in Dean's eyes revealed all his hurt and memories. Like you, I know Dean saw his mom that night and you did a terrific job of revealing his memories of that night.

Only after you have suffered a loss do you understand the very real pain that always stays with you, just under the surface waiting for some insignificant event or moment to trigger it. You perfectly explained that.  How it is like a tidal wave that just sweeps over you, taking you back to the pain.

Fearing losing hold of the memories and that person is so very real. Sometimes you feel guilty for not keeping them tightly with you, but that is the nature of grief, you have to move on.

Again, fantastic job at delving into Dean's psyche and showing us again that scared four year old and why he is the way he is. Wonderful touch at the end with him basically forgiving Sammy and vowing to always keep him safe.  That is the Dean we know and love.

Oh, yes!  I am so glad this is being featured so it gets the respect it deserves.  I had to come read it again.  Knowing who was speaking actually makes it better, more heartwrenching.  So worthy of a second read.

We know so little about Mary and yet, she is at the center of everything.  There is still so much to learn and discover about what she knew, what she did... if her boys are paying the price.

So sad about them not coming into the light and then of course little Dean asking about God and angels but never asking about the Devil and Hell... why would he?  Why should he?

Ah, Louy, I swear I'm filled with warm fuzzies!  I'm slowly making my way thru the prank war stories and that truly was the most original story I've read yet, and one of the best.

I loved having John with the boys and how realistically you portrayed them.  I'd love a second chapter of them getting back at Dad.  It is sweet to think even the good-soldier Dean would take some pleasure in getting back at Dad.

I loved John's insights into both his sons, how protective Dean is and how he would never fight with Sam, and how Sam still looks at Dean with "hero worship" when Dean isn't looking.

This story is not only funny with the pranks, but heartwarming and that is always a winning combination.

That was sweet!  Typical smug Dean and paranoid Sammy and I loved it.  Really a nice, different take on this prank war.  Dean had me going just like Sammy until the very end when the hammer fell.

Oh, John is so going to make them pay.  I've been slowly making my way thru the prank stories and there are only a few that are really unique and this is one of them.

Truly funny and unpredictable which is always a winning combination!  Yes, Dean as a singing teapot is priceless. 

So, Sammy totally deserved the payback of the tampons or the pregnancy scare.  Still not sure which would be more humiliating... Dean sure knows how to push Sammy to the limit.
