What draws a 46 year old woman to be hooked on Supernatural?

Let's see.  I've been reading fantasy and science fiction since I was twelve. I love the fact that Sam and Dean are two parts of one whole hero.  You really can't have one without the other. They are human, with their own limitations, foibles, and powers.

Oops, more about me. A perfectionist with a degree in secondary education, social science, theology, and minors in math and chemistry.  I have a master's degree in theology - hence the love of the good and evil issues. I was a nun for 16 years.  Worked with teenagers and young adults for 25 years - hence the love of the whole angst issues.

For the last four years I have worked nights as a 911 dispatcher in Nebraska in a town of 50,000. Big enough to have all the issues to keep me multi-tasking, small enough to get to do all the jobs: medical, police and county calls. Of course that explains my love of saving people like Dean does, also why I send my evals at 3 AM.

It's 3AM and I need to get some sleep.  Just finished The Coming Storm and loved it. I like what you did with Sam, Dean, Dante and Concha.  I would like to see it as a series. Count on my reading anything you write.  If you ever need another person to read as you write let me know.   Just so you know I read Bonding of Souls too -- dark, but well done. When I have time will try to share what I really liked.  Jenny

Author's Response:

Hi Jenny,

Thanks so much, I'm flattered.  I've started the next in the Elements series, Sam going back to school.  I'll certainly keep you in mind as a beta...need all the help I can get...lol

Wow, unbelievable story! You are fabulous. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this story before. I went back today and reread the entire story so I would get the full impact of your writing.

I loved the way Dean helped Sam come back to himself.  This chapter pulled the whole story together. Dean holding a part of Sam was so right. His taking the knife wound so he could reach Sam was so perfect. He would gladly die if it meant Sam would survive.  Of course Sam's full power coming with the possibility of Dean's being killed by the Demon was right on too.

I'm amazed at how you came to the same conclusions of the Demon wanting to bring one of the chosen to power by killing off all the others. Your story made me understand the end of this season of the TV show so much better.  I'm not a writer. so words fail me at expressing how wonderful this story has been.  Just know that I have loved every word.

Can't wait to read the last chapter. Jenny

Author's Response:

*blush!* Thank you whitewave! Thanks for such kind words. I can't believe you went back and re-read the whole thing. That makes my heart so happy.

Oh, and I'm glad that this helped you understand some things about part 1 better. It's good to know that it could give some clarification.

Hope all is well. :)

Sam couldn't let Dean die anymore that Dean could allow Sam to stay dead. It is the tie that binds them together, one soul in two bodies or maybe two woven completely together, and you expressed it so well. Of course I worried for a few paragraphs.  Wonderful epilogue to a great story.

Author's Response:

Thank you, whitewave!

No, I don't think Sam could let Dean die, we saw that in Faith, and I just know we'll see Sam fighting as hard as he can for Dean in this next season. Same with Dean, the sacrifice he's made...I am so glad that you could see that in this story. Thank you again for the review. :) Take care.

I can't wait to read the next chapter. Usually, I don't read a story until it is finished, but I love your writing. As always, you have me sucked in and on edge.

Author's Response: Ah, that's so nice of you to say! I really am honored that you have enough confidence in me to go ahead and read despite it being a WIP.  Thank you...I promise to do my best to make it worth it *crosses fingers*.

Just wanted to let you know I love the story.  I never read stories as they are written. I wait till they are done, because I need instant gratification.  But your stories are so good, I am breaking my rule and reading as it is posted.  Can't wait till you are finished.

I loved what you had the "NotSam" say to keep Dean from telling Sam what happened in the bathroom. It is exactly what would make him suffer in silence.

Author's Response:

I hear ya about the instant gratification.  A fic has to really catch my attention to get me to read it as a WIP.  I, too, need to sit and read all at once.

I'm so flattered that you're making an exception for me.  Thank you.

Damn -- Dean is sooo in trouble.  His mental agony is killing me. I keep thinking it can't get much worse and you twist his guts even tighter.  Unbelievably great job there.  I keep wanting to yell at Sam to help him or he's going to be too late.  Then I want to yell at Dean to tell Sam. but of course you slammed that door shut too, so not nice.

Can't wait to hear the story of the girl too. Poor Dean, there is nothing he couldn't tell Sam -- is there?

Author's Response:

Ah, well, you'll just have to keep reading to get all of your questions answered *evil laugh*.

Lol, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I can't believe anything I've written could provoke yelling at the boys...but it makes me feel good that it did.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.

I knew it couldn't be so simple as to just burn the painting.  Can't wait to see what it will take to get rid of it.  I have enjoyed the story so far -- especially liked the reasons why Dean didn't want to see Kerri and Sam's understanding of why they wouldn't work.

Do you have other stories with Laura, her gift, and her mentor Cernunnos?  I want to read more.  Also curious about the Igigi and Anunnaki.

Darkfaling had me hooked from the beginning.  While it was dark story, the suffering always had a point. There were so many places where I could see memories from this story breing explained in a future story.

I about lost it with the end.  I hope it is leading to another story and not just the end of Sam.

Author's Response:

Wow Whitewave! Thank you so much for the praise... I pm'd you with a link to the followup... and yes, there is a followup... I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for a response...

I didn't know anyone else was reading the story.  Sorry...

Oh yeah, and in answer to your question Laura was introduced in my first story The Devil Inside and has made appearances in almost all the 'current time' fics...

thanks again.

Summary:

He turned, expertly masking the mass of unshed tears and unspoken fears that threatened so very much to burst from his usually strong and controlled person. Expressionless in every aspect save for his eyes, his gaze met Anna Walker’s. A silent message was communicated.

He knew she was telling him first. He appreciated it.

He knew she was asking his permission to say it aloud. He gave it.

He knew he would never be grateful to anyone more than he was to her now. He silently told her so.

He knew she understood.

Their mutual gazes broke apart, and Dean continued to clean his prized guns as Anna relayed the series of events that took place that day at the hospital to Sammy.

Dean knew his younger brother would cry.

Oh no, you would take Dean just as Sam faces his nightmares and kills Mara. All the more painful to win and lose at the same time.

Loved the banshee's name, Misery - how appropriate.  Of course, they would have a family banshee. Can't wait to see her lead Dean back???

Mara forgot the one thing that would make Sam face any pain -- Dean.

IF you need a beta let me know - not sure how it all works, but am willing to learn. Jenny

Author's Response: hey, thanks for reading...yeah, really stinks that Sam wins and loses at the same time!! i took the name Misery from a song by AFI called, Everything, She Said...the words to the song, just reminded me of the banshee...yep, Mara definitely did forget that Sam would face anything for Dean. awww...thanks so much for the offer, you're a real sweetheart!! i will definitely keep you in mine for a beta...lol...you may regret asking!! thanks again, bambers;)

I loved this scene too.  I spent several days thinking about all the things that went through their minds too.  Just wanted you to know that you did a great job expressing them for me.  In that tear I saw Dean realize that he might have to do the same for Sam.  Plus of course all the times he had tried to protect Sam and couldn't.

I know I have been telling you how much I love this story, but you have outdone yourself with this chapter.  It would have been easy to have Dean just jump to his Sam's reality, but the way you took this story is so much better.

By taking the time to address the new Sam's issues, you led Dean to new insights about himself and his need to help both of his brothers. Really great job developing the new Sam's character as separate and uique from the original.

Loved the prophecy, wish Dean would listen, but great character reasons for him not to. Finally wonderful job with the running commentary in Dean's mind.
