I think that maybe I’m the kind of father that children grow up determined not to be, that daughters are frightened of and sons are shut down by and wives are ashamed of. I keep my eyes facing forward as I search intently for the black van I know carries my youngest son, and I wonder how my oldest can stand to know my blood runs in his veins. I loved your lines “Bobby knew the real reason Dean had survived it all was because he had to, he had to take care of his little brother; Sammy giving Dean his purpose, a reason to keep going, a job to do. His family his only refuge from the storm, and the boy had latched on tight, refusing to surrender to the darkness that threatened to claim them. Maybe together John's boys could give each other strength.” I loved you adding Bobby, he’s such a loving and grounding force for the boys. Could see Dean’s guilt and his “selfishness” for wanting to keep the pendant, and his desire to still keep Sam’s innocence. Bravo!!! Crystal Author's Response: Thanks so much, Crystal. I love Bobby and it just seemed to fit to see his reaction to all that happened. I love how Dean acquired the pendant, but I couldn't help but feel "our" Dean would feel a certain amount of guilt... (knowing how selfless he is) and it was nice to examine that and have Bobby give him permission to keep the amulet. I totally loved the Christmas episode, perfect in every way. Thanks again, B.J. Date: 05/01/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 BRAVO!!! Petra, the correlation to being in a theatre with the special presentation absolutely brilliant. From opening scene to end credits, I absolutely loved it. You more than exceeded my expectations. John’s devastation at being forced to watch those he loves being destroyed, living the worst parts of their lives, the “audience” reactions as the scene played out, his front row seat, so amazing. “For the umpteenth time in eternity, John collapsed inside himself, crying his pain, frustration and torment in silent tears. His mind tried to shut off, to disappear, to hit the mute button since the off button was non existent. But for the umpteenth time in eternity, the demonic plague hit the replay button and Hell became the box office hit with John the sole audience.” My heart broke with John’s watching Dean, knowing family was Dean’s life. “John wrapped his arms around himself in an unconscious gesture of supporting Dean. He knew that Sam’s indifference, indeed his cold disregard, would be tearing Dean apart, that this was the ultimate torture for his boy.” Although rarely seen, we know John loved his sons, and believed he was doing the right thing by them, doing the best he could. Trying to keep them safe and protect them, even dying for them. Hell would indeed play upon these emotions, twisting, taunting, trying to destroy the man. I can’t wait for the rest of the story. Date: 23/01/08 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Cookie, WOW!! I don’t even know where to start. To be fighting every kind of evil for so many years and it comes down to what humanity does to itself. Faith in others is not a fault, but it comes back to bite you in the ass time after time. To be forced to watch his youngest go through this alone, has to be heartbreaking. Of course John has to know Dean would never abandon his brother regardless of what his tormenters say. Finding out Sam was the favored had to be overwhelming, knowing him to be specifically targeted by evil for their own purpose. It is so painful to see the depths of John’s despair, not being able to protect your children is every parents worst nightmare. You have taken us to the very core of John’s soul, love of his sons, fear of what his failure has meant, anger at not being there to save them. This is so emotional and powerful. Crystal

Date: 11/03/08 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Cookie, Like I have said before, this is so powerful, so much raw emotion. Your descriptions are vivid, the images so easy to visualize. We know hell has totally underestimated the wrath of John Winchester. To learn their lives had been destroyed that they were no more than collateral damage for no other reason than because his son was favored to lead hell, something we could never picture Sam doing. John still seeing Sam’s faith in good, and knowing that it could destroy his son, but still proud that after everything Sam had seen he could still have something to believe in. The devastation of seeing Dean losing his brother, knowing Sam was Dean’s sole purpose in life, your description of it shaking hell and earth alike were stunning. John’s anger was so powerful, one thing he knew was how to turn his hate into a weapon of his own. A means to destroy. God help anyone or anything that stands in his way.
