Date: 08/05/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Very bitter sweet - I am so glad you didn't let him succumb to the temptation of forgetfulness, even though living with those memories would be even harder when they aren't shared. I have to confess, I cried! Author's Response: Oh, my. That's the highest praise a writer can get...that her work has touched the reader emotionally. Thank you! I couldn't let Dean forget...that would negate the whole series, which has been a learning experience from the first season. Dean's learned so much: about himself, about his dad, and about the things they hunted, and he's grown so much as a result, that forgetting would do him (and the viewers!) a major disservice. But Sam had learned too many negative things, lost too much of his empathy and sweetness, and he deserves to go back to that kinder time--for Dean's sake as well as his own. And, with everything Dean has learned, I think he'll give Sam the chance to grow up himself this time around! Summary:

Date: 27/05/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Nice hopeful ending - which is more than the show offered us in the end isn't it! (Sorry I took so long to get round to reading this..!). I love how many fics are dealing with Dean getting his amulet back, I think they missed a trick there (but maybe that is how Sam will convince Dean he's Sam when they eventually reunite next season..??). Your idea of having Dean give it to Sam to wear seems a very appropriate gesture... Thanks AMB. I left the ending open to interpretation but in my mind Dean was thinking he would follow Sam into that hole if that's the way things had to go. I think the last two or three fics I've written deal with the amulet in some way. That's really the only thing I'm disappointed about in the finale. I really wanted to see Sam give it back to Dean but yes, I agree with you about it turning up next season and it's probably going to turn up in my next fic as well. I just can't leave it alone. Date: 26/05/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 So many tags to this ending are being written and I can see why. I like the parallel timings giving Dean the same 4 months Sam had to endure when Dean was in Hell - it has a nice ring of symetry to it. I loved the way Dean coped with the incomprehensible moods of a 'real' life and real woman by retreating into the Impala. And yes, I just can't see 'normal' working for him, however hard he might try. Nice job... I feel the grieving may go on all summer for us as well as for Dean! Author's Response: I wish Dean could have a happy life, but I just can't see this being it. I think we're all grieving with him and for him. And yes, the four month timeframe just seemed appropriate...though I hope the writers won't really make poor Dean wait that long this time. Summary:
Sam and Dean are asked to take care of something. Language barriers, stubborn poltergeists, nasty memories causing old wounds to rip at the seams: it's a typical week in the life of our favourite grumpy stumpy dude and his tall emo yardstick of morality. Set during season five but no relation to any story arcs, plots or episodes. This is not about nor does it mention the apocalypse, angels, demons or in fact demon blood. They left a lot of unresolved issues, and I'm not sure if it was intentional (to be finished next season) or if it was just, as Chuck said, there will always be loose ends and you can't please everyone. Date: 10/07/10 Title: Chapter 1: Dark Side of the Moon Like you, I've read (and written) a few takes on the amulet but I don't think I've read one yet that sits so well inside Sam's head as this one - the anger feels right, especially in the light of the way Sam behaves subsequently, and how he gently but oh so firmly brings Dean around to the only course of action left open to them in fighting Lucifer. So good on ya! Author's Response: Thanks a lot, I wasn't really sure if people would agree with me about Sam feeling angry at Dean for throwing the amulet away, almost all tags I've read concentrated on him feeling sad and abandoned. I'm not saying he didn't feel like that but I guess if that had been all he was feeling he wouldn't have fought for Dean's faith in him later one. Glad you're agreeing with me! :)

Date: 10/07/10 Title: Chapter 2: Swan Song I like a lot of things about how you wrote this Dean POV - the episodic visits to the Impala, the rain, the idea that he goes there to talk to Sam, and the neat tie in with your Sam story when he finds the amulet again. Both stories strike a nice balance between the brothers like you said, and in my view neither and both are to blame for everything that has gone on between them - we are all responsible for our actions even when our choices are as hard as theirs were... Author's Response: Originally I had planned to write it as one scene with Dean putting the amulet back on at the end of it. And it didn't work like that, Dean needs his time to come to term with things. And you are so right, neither and both are to blame, that's what I've always said, they are both responsible for what they've done! Man, I'm so glad you're with me on that! :) Thanks a lot! Summary:

Date: 19/07/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Funny, I can see Dean doing this now, but not back then...not even right after their Dad died, or even when he kept talking about how tired he was and you could see all the pain mounting up. The only time I could have seen him trying to commit suicide otherwise was when it was already too late and Michael would have just brought him back. Still, you write a great angsty one shot, as always, so I can suspend my disbelief! Author's Response: I am not sure why you assumed it was that early in their history. I purposefully left it nebulous. Since he more than indicated to Sam that he was willing to just die there (albeit with Sam) I think he was considering it even then. I appreciate you reading, though. Date: 11/08/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I love the idea of this; it really is a gaping hole when you look back on it, knowing how they developed Bobby's character into that important second father figure. I'm sure you are right, there's no way he wouldn't have gone to see Dean - and it was sad you chose a moment when we know Dean wasn't in his body to have Bobby tell him how much he was needed. Loved the description of Dean's presence/energy as the Impala idling - very appropriate! And your little throwaway about pissed being John's default setting made me laugh. Author's Response: It was interesting to look at the early Bobby's interactions with the boys compared to their later relationship. Yes, I was sad that Dean wouldn't hear Bobby's words, but I don't think he was ready for a "substitute father" at that point (and there was no other time Dean was alone in the hospital!) But I think Bobby really needed the closure. Thanks so much for all your support--I really appreciate your reviews! Summary: Dean wakes up in the hospital. Date: 21/08/10 Title: Chapter 1: Day One - Comfort Food Oh you are just a big fat tease Jules, telling me you have finished the tale then only posting a chappie at a time!!! Then cursing Dean with thumb sucking ha ha ha! (Wonders - Do I fess up to my own guilty secret thumb-sucking?? - nah, too embarrassing...) Lots of lovely touches from the town called Casper to the kneeing of Sam's nuts, what a lovely description that was - so kudos to Cookie6 from me too! Hey ho, so now I have to decide, do I go for the childhood memories of the weekly comic landing on the mat, or wait for completion and read it straight through???? Decisions, decisions. Author's Response: Actually, with very few exceptions, all of my stories are finished at time of posting - or at least, the final chapter is with my beta by the time the first chapter goes up. It's my insurance policy. I have a chronic illness which affects my joints among other things, and because I work in an office all day, some nights my hands are so sore that I can't write when I get home from work. So I write when the muse strikes and the pain in my hands isn't too bad, and save it up for a rainy day, as it were. Because for me, there is nothing worse than starting a story, then having irregular updates. I hate letting my readers down like that. My hands, and my real life schedule, can cope with once per week so that's what I stick to. And if the condition spikes and I can't write for a few days, at least I'm not stressing about chapters not being finished. Thank you for that - yes, Dean's certainly being affected in a weird way by whatever it is that's affecting him - lol. Cookie6's man-bits comes from a beta-ing email sent by her to me for the epilogue of Here At, actually. It was a comment she'd left on a scene I'd written, and my freaky little brain filed it away for future use because it was such a funny line.
