I love Bobby's character and the interaction he has with the boys and I also loved those scenes at the end of season four. This was a beautiful story and a beautiful dedication. Yeah, I know, I'm not right. :) Good story, AMB. Author's Response: I'd forgotten you wanted to know what Misha smelt like when I added that bit! But I reckon an angel would smell like something elemental yet lovely - like a pine forest or the sea....and as he can repair the clothing the same as he repairs Jimmy, he'd always be clean and fresh! Summary: Pre-series: A hunt gone wrong makes up Sam's mind that he should go to college. The argument between Sam and John and the fallout that follows afterward.

Date: 09/02/10 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Oh, that was so sad. I like how you combined two events that I've always wondered about: Sam leaving for Stanford and Bobby running John off with a shotgun. I've always wondered why he really ran him off. I can see John saying something like that to Bobby. John was pretty hot-headed, which is just one of the reasons him and Sam butted heads all the time. Poor Dean. His world has just fallen apart but I love the fact that he called Sam to tell him he was proud of him. Good job! Author's Response: I am glad you enjoyed this story. I wasn't too sure about it but it wouldn't leave me alone. And I too have always wondered about what could have made Bobby drive John off with a shotgun. We have gotten a lot of little pieces of what happened between Sam and John during their last fight together - but I couldn't imagine Dean just standing there and letting them do that unless he were out or he was unable to do anything about it. So I chose the latter. If he were physically incapable of seperating Sam and John during their last fight it would have destroyed him even more I think. Because he wouldn't be able to stop it and would be helpless as he watched his brother walk out the door. And you're right - John was pretty hot-headed. But Sam is as well. They are so much a like, two people can't be so a like and be expected to live in harmony. But Dean is more like Bobby I've noticed. He lets you know exactally when you've gone too far. But even the apocolypse wasn't enough to push Bobby to the point of disowning the boys - so what could have driven him to pulling out a shotgun on John? Pushing Sam away seemed like it would fit. Bobby is very fond of both the boys and if John pushed Sam to the point of no return Bobby would have noticed. And after hearing what John had done and had seen what it was doing to Dean I think it would have put him on the edge. And John in his anger and self defense for what he would have done would have lashed out at Bobby with the one weapon he had, driving Bobby over the edge. I can't imagine John leaving his boys with a hunter who he hadn't checked out - and therefore knew about Bobby's background. I'm glad you enjoyed this story though.  Date: 22/01/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Oh gosh, Jules, that was just lovely! I had tears in my eyes for 1983. Those family moments just break my heart, knowing what's in store for the boys. I can't decide if 2005 or 2007 was my favorite so let's just say they both are. :) I loved it when Dean asked Bobby if he could go to the bathroom. I like 2009 because it shows the strain in the boys relationship but how they will always reach out for each other no matter what happens. Great job as always! Author's Response: Hi, Sonya, Awww, thank you. I love zooming in on the little moments, so it was a fun piece to write, apart from the first two. LOL, so glad you loved the bathroom line. Poor Dean was getting desperate - but he followed orders, he didn't leave Sam.  Date: 29/01/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Hey Jules, I wasn't expecting a new story from you this week so I was very happy when I got my little alert telling me you had added a story to the site. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was bothered by Dean using the joy buzzer on Sam. I mean, things have been so strained between them and then Dean basically risks Sam's life to prove a point? If he'd been wrong, Sam would have died. Sam had every right to be angry. You know I'm a Dean girl too, but sometimes I just want to smack him upside the head. I love your version of what happened afterwards. At least in your story, Dean realizes what a stupid move he made. Sometimes we all do things in the heat of the moment we regret and I like that Dean feels guilty over this. He should. All those different scenarios of Sam dying....man, those were hard to read because I don't want my boys dead....ever, not even in a dream (yeah, I know, I'm guilty too). I could feel Dean's anguish in each one. Oh, and Cas being so callous...ouch....and Zachariah.....even in dreamland I wanted to scratch his eyes out. My favorite moments: when Dean wakes up and sits on the edge of Sam's bed, so distraught that he can't really say anything, taking comfort just from the warmth of Sam's hip against his back...lovely, lovely, lovely. And the exchage between Sam and Dean when Dean tells Sam he's not expendable, Sam's reluctance to meet his eyes...just awesome! And kudos to Chris for another awesome banner. I really like that one. Oh, you're going to have to tell me how to put an author on alert - I got an email from a reader and I promised I'd find out for her. I'll email you. No, you're not the only one. Unfortunately, he's lying to himself if he thinks he can just keep pushing all this down and he's never going to break. And he was wrong to tell Sam to do the same because Sam is definitely not wired the same as Dean. Sam needs to talk, he needs to try and fix things. I enjoyed your journey into Dean's thoughts. I think they're pretty much spot on what Dean would be thinking. And I assume you think the same as me, that the doc was a hallucination all along, she was never real? I thought she looked a lot like Meg. Great story. Author's Response: Hey, Micaiah! I originally thought the doc was real for their first encounter. That made sense to me, that later, when he hallucinated he would call upon her to be his sounding board. I later agreed that she was in his head the entire time. I think that just surprised me that he was that 'crazy' almost as soon as they got there. But I think it works to show how much he needs to talk with someone and just how close to the edge he truly is. I too do not believe his approach of shoving it all down and not dealing with it will work for him or Sam. It might have worked in the past, but Dean has been denying his hurts for too long. Between Hell and the pressure to stop Lucifer, he is near the breaking point. And I do believe that once he cracks, once he faces up to his personal demons he will come out stronger. Both he and Sam. And it will probably be the only way they will be able to fight this fight. At one point I wondered (as I'm sure Dean flashed on) whether the shrink was Meg, come to torment him. This is lovely, as always. The reunion scene in Illinois was beautiful. Oddly enough, I haven't read any fics about that moment. You captured everything that Sam was feeling perfectly. The Michigan scene was something I can see happening. I'm afraid of Cas sacrificing himself for the greater good and saving the boys. Beautiful moments between Sam and Dean. You got me all teary eyed this morning but that's not always a bad thing. And that last line just says it all "He was home." Great job, Jules. It was finished about a week or so ago, but I wanted to do some final tweaking as there was a scene or two that I felt could be made better. And the muse hasn't been playing nice at all lately.
