Date: 21/11/09 Title: Chapter 22: Lay Your Weary Head to Rest A couple of friends recommended this story to me and I spent most of last Saturday reading it. Wanted to get back today and leave you a review for such hard work. I don't normally read long fanfics because they take so much time to read but I'm glad that I took the time for this one. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. I always liked Katheen so it was good to see her again. The thought of what Dean had to do as a kid is just heartbreaking. Such a dark place for Dean to be. I hope that eventually he will recover but I imagine something like that would take a long time. Great job! Summary:

Date: 02/02/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 So, I've been snowed in for five days now. I'm trying to play catch up on your fics, Jules. :) As always, I love your little details. Dean's hand on Sam's chest, the other on the wheel of the Impala...the two things Dean loves the most and he almost lost both. Love, love, love Dean wrapping his fingers around Sam's trembling ones to help him with the bowl of soup. It's these little gestures that show the love between the brothers. I'm such a sap but I just love these boys and their devotion to each other. Sam's inner struggle with the entity trying to take over his body was nail biting and very well done. Great job as always. When I'm researching a particular timeline for a story, I'll always watch the episodes before and after when I've set the story just to get into the boys' headspace, and I take note of their little looks and gestures - their whole body language. It's quite fascinating to watch them - and not just for the eye candy - lol. So pleased you liked Sam's internal battle to stop his soul being expelled. This is just beautiful: "And his brother is there, book and food forgotten, gripping his hand again, and at that moment he thinks Sammy might have the kindest eyes he’s ever seen, all warm, sincere, loving. “Love yuh Sammy,” he slurs. “Just never tell yuh…” And now his brother’s eyes are all shiny too. “Drink,” he whispers, and Sam shakes his head. “No can do, man. Not on top of the morphine.” And it hurts now, so damn much, as she pokes, wipes, sloshes, pokes again, and he knows tears are leaking out the corners of his eyes and he can feel them soak a trail into his hair. “Hurtssss…” he breathes." Author's Response: Thanks so much… These stories are a re-imagining of Dean’s Hell ordeal, and also a way for me to sort of ‘rehabilitate’ Sam in my own mind after S4. So a lot of schmoop in here!

Even better than the first and I can't wait for the next one......there is a next one, right?? Thanks hon, and for all your great feedback and encouragement - I don't get that many reviews here, which means every one is treasured! The majority of people who've read both have said they think this one is better which is wonderful since I never thought I would outdo Woods. I think it's better too: I feel I really found my wings with this, in terms of writing style and characterization. Yes there will be another one! I started it last night, actually, though it probably won't post until the New Year. I like to get the majority of it all down before I start posting so that I can update regularly. Lots of lovely brotherly moments in this fic. And poor Sammy thinking nobody should waste any time on him. I still think he feels pretty unworthy even now. The image of Sam destroying the cassette in a moment of rage and then realizing he was destroying something of Dean's....heartbreaking. Author's Response: Thank you, Micaiah. It was just something I could really see Sam doing - the anger and grief overtaking him and causing him to vent it on the thing that had brought the pain so sharply into focus, then slowly regaining his senses and being horrified that he had damaged something of his brother's - like severing one more link to Dean. On one hand, you would hope so since they are trying to be more honest but on the other hand you would think Dean would keep it to himself because how would Sam react to that? And I think that the little glimpse of that future, whether it was genuine or Zachariah's fabrication to get Dean to say yes to Michael, shook him to his core and renewed his determination to save his brother.
