![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 06/04/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Jules, I'm long overdue in reviewing one of your stories - I've read them all and there's not a bad one yet! I was actually over in Oz a few weeks ago (I'm in the UK)and brought one of your stories with me so that I could read it on your home turf. Anyway, just a word of thanks for this one - just what I needed. After Dark Side of the Moon, I'm worried about where the boys' relationship is going and it was great to have a little story where they just care about each other without any recriminations. I hope this is what they get back to in season six. Keep up the good work - I love your stories and always keep an eye out for when you have a new one up. Broken Images and Here At the End of All Things are the places I go when I'm feeling a bit down and want to feel better. Thanks for these and all the others, Justine Author's Response: Hi, Justine, Were you the one who emailed us during Here At? How are you doing? I hope that you're going okay, all things considered. Oh, you were over here? Which part? I'm in sunny Queensland, just a tiny bit north of Brisbane. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and that it wasn't too hot for you. We've just finished our summer, and February had some horrid days. I so know what you mean about Dark Side of the Moon - wasn't that ending just....ugh, worse than MBV in terms of breaking our hearts. Oh my gosh...*flails*... I hope they get back together soon, too, and repair their brotherly bond that we've all missed so much. They really do need each other. Thank you so much for your feedback. It's very special to me. I'm a nervous Nellie at the best of times, and to hear how my stories have touched people -well, I can ask for no better blessing. If you ever want a copy of any fics, please don't hesitate to ask, and I will email you the Word document complete with story banner. Take care, and thank you again. It was lovely to hear from you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 06/06/10 Title: Chapter 6: Epilogue Hey Jules, How was the Sydney Con - did you get that glass of wine with Jim? Just wanted to say how much I loved this story - an excellent 50th - and how impressed I am that you managed to stay away from the 100th episode for so long. I never could have done it! I feel bad saying this (I adore the show and am full of admiration for the writers) but I actually preferred your ending of the story to what the show gave us! I'm hoping that the first episode of season 6 will give it more context and maybe the ending won't seem so sudden in the wider picture. As others have noted in reviews, you gave us the boys side by side again, which is where I thought they'd end up after Point of No Return - I don't want them to be distant again next season. It's one thing for the relationship to evolve but I've had enough of them lacking trust and faith in each other. So your story gave me what I wanted on that front, which would have been enough in itself for me, but the thing you added that I really loved was the stuff about the amulet. I couldn't believe that they didn't bring that back into the story before season end. Like you, I think that necklace means as much to Sam as it does to Dean - it's a symbol of their connection - and I'm sure Sam would not have left it in the trash. So I was really happy to see in your story that Dean discovers it amongst Sam's stuff and is glad to find it there. Maybe that's what they'll do in the show? Hope so, because for me that amulet is only slightly less important than the Impala! Thanks for another fantastic story - looking forward to number 51 and beyond, Justine BTW you asked if that was me that emailed during Here At... I've been back and looked at it and though I have no recollection of posting it, it sure sounds like me! And I really did love that one - still my absolute favourite story on this whole site. Author's Response: Hi, Justine, I did get that glass of wine, actually. They did it differently to what I expected - we sat at tables and the guests sat with us for about ten minutes at a time. And Jim sang to us! He found out that six of the eight people at the table were from Brisbane, and remembered an old song that mentioned Brisbane Waters, so he sang a little verse to us. He's awesome - I'm so glad we went for VIP tickets this time around. Oh, it was hard staying spoiler-free, I can tell you. My little SN discussion group was going nuts with their spoiler clips and episode discussions, and I was going nuts just flicking the unread emails into a folder while I slaved away on this story - LOL. Aw, thank you so much! I think I'm still in shock over the finale, actually. I thought that there would be a last minute save or another way out - certainly didn't expect Sam to make the ultimate sacrifice. And damn it, I wanted a better end for him and Dean! I wanted the "We've got work to do", followed by jumping into the Impala to ride off into the sunset!!!!! So this was like a little balm to my poor battered soul, even though I hadn't even seen any hints of what was to come when I wrote the epilogue. And I'm with you - I'm hoping for a return to them working together as a team for next season. We've seen them fractured apart for too long. Thank you, hun - oh, and it wasn't you who emailed Petra and me - I found the email the other evening in my folder. But thank you for loving Here At - man, that was a lot of hard work - lol. We practically sweated blood over that story, but it was worth it. The muse is on holiday at the moment, but as soon as she comes back, I'm going to make her help me finish off story number 51. Take care, Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 05/11/10 Title: Chapter 17: Circling the drain Hi Mary, I feel kind of cheeky for reviewing this late in the day, but I just wanted to drop you a line of encouragement to say that I'm really enjoying this story. I won't compare it to events in Season 6 because I don't know if you're watching it, but I am enjoying your story as much as Sara Gamble's! I've never reviewed one of your stories before (which is why I feel a bit cheeky prodding you for more now!) but I've read everything you have on here. I'm dying to know how Walls Come Tumbling Down is going to end, but If You Need... is what I really want to see more of. I am well aware that the demands of life sometimes get in the way of us doing the things we'd really like to be doing, so please take this as a supportive nudge, with no pressure intended! On a different note, I presume that having been an UnGen writer for so long without a beta, this is your choice, but if you want a fellow Brit (sorry not a Scot) on your team, I'd be happy to lend a hand. So to reiterate my overall point, more PLEEEAAASE - when real life allows :) Justine Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 26/12/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 What a treat to have a Mizpah Christmas story just in time to read on Christmas Eve! I had a very lazy evening and I topped it off with this story (which I loved btw). I think you wrote soulless Sam very well; I agree with you that it's very hard to think through how this version of Sam will react to anything these days. On first reading the story, I wasn't sure if Sam as portrayed on the show would even have tried to make Xmas for Dean - it's hard to see any emotional connection between them at the moment - but that said, Sam does seem to want Dean around and I'm not convinced that it's just to have an extra weapon (although that's definitely a big part of it). You've done a really good job of articulating Sam's attempts to sort through his relationship with Dean and whatever feelings he may have/not have on the subject, which again I think builds on what we've seen briefly in the show. Thanks for getting this story out in time for Xmas (I miss the VS Xmas collection but you're all making up for it). I hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year. On a selfish note, I can't wait for some new stories too. Justine Author's Response: Awww...*blushes*....thanks, Justine. We had a wet Christmas Eve, driving to my cousin's place to drop off presents for the kids, then back to my place for a hot cup of tea and dry off - lol. It was really hard to get inside RoboSam's head, because I'm so used to tapping into his emotions, and I had no base for that this time around. And yes, I'm with you - on some level, Sam knows he needs his brother. He just can't apply a logical reason for why. Because it's not logical. It's family. Oh, new stories? Well.....I've had two weeks off work over Christmas, and actually managed to get some writing done, so......very, very soon, I'm hitting the boards again. Take care, Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 13/11/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 So good to have you back Jules - I've really missed your stories! All my favourite writers on this site seem to have been on hiatus lately. Not that that's a criticism - I don't know how any of you fit writing into your lives but I'm really glad you do. Loved this one - being a Sam girl I was totally on the side of the younger Winchester in this matter. I get why Dean did what he did, but the angst he's been putting himself through just shows that he knows his approach to this one has been less then perfect! He was probably right about Amy but he really didn't argue his case very convincingly or at any great length and I don't blame Sam for being absolutely furious with his brother. So I really enjoyed reading your take on Dean's reasoning even if I still think he was wrong in the way he handled things. And I too have often wondered how Mary explained the death of BOTH her parents in one day! I'm just having one more read of Here at the End... whilst some of it still takes place in the future. That story's very bad for me - I always go to bed too late and always leave just a little bit late for work in the morning because I can't tear myself away from it! I'm aiming to finish it on the actual date that the story ends. See, like Sam, I'm a bit OCD myself!! Can't wait for another one from you as soon as you can find the time ;) Justine xx Author's Response: Hi, Justine, Awww, thank you! It's good to be back....or it was....*sigh*....it has been awhile, hasn't it? Things will settle down in the new year, so hopefully I'll be back soon with a new story. And I'm on holidays at the moment, so you never know. If I'm a good little homeowner and get those nagging few things done around the place that I've earmarked for the holidays, I might be able to fit in some writing time. You know, I've always considered myself a Dean girl, but I've defended Sam rather passionately a number of times over the past few seasons. I think it's because I understand where Sam's been coming from, and I can see where he thought he was doing the right thing, even though it turned out he wasn't. But there have been a few times where I've wanted to give my beloved Dean a good swift kick in the rear end and tell him to wake up to himself. Ah, Dean....gotta love him, even when you want to slap him silly. But I'm with you - I was shocked by Dean's blatant lie - I think I even yelled "Don't do it!" at the computer screen when he gave Sam that weak excuse about going to get some more painkillers. I understand that he didn't trust Amy's word, and he couldn't trust Sam's judgement, but lying to Sam's face....that didn't sit well with me at all. I feel that season seven is going to be a big journey for Dean - almost a journey of self-discovery. I think he's going to have to do some heavy soul-searching - remember what he said to Jo about taking off the mask? I think Dean's going to take off that mask and finally discover who he really is, not in relation to being Sam's brother or John's son, but Dean Winchester. I'm looking forward to that discovery, even though I feel it's going to be a very bumpy ride. Oh, and you're back on Here At? LOL! How did you go on finishing it on the date the story ends? Which is...let me see...*rummages through files*...23rd of November, when they were on the highway heading home. You'll have to drop me a line and let me know if you made it. Another one - well, fingers crossed. Hopefully one's coming soon. Take care, and hope you had a great Christmas. Jules |
