December 2009 - Almost three years to the day since I first plucked up the courage to post a piece of fanfiction (on another site) I have just seen my first original novel go live on Amazon. When my proof copy came I was both enthralled by the experience of seeing my name on the cover of an actual book - with my words inside it - and relieved to discover there were no glaring errors! If anyone would like to take a look, here is the link:

http://www.amazon.com/Bonds-Destiny-Michaela-Ince-Gilmore/dp/1449907806/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260564727&sr=1-4

This is the summary of the book itself: Sometimes you have to decide just how far you will go to do the right thing and what price you are willing to pay. Two worlds collide - literally - when brothers Thomas and Nathan McCleer find themselves torn from their own reality during an archaeological dig on a remote Scottish island. Trapped in a place that feels as familiar as it does alien, they find themselves thrown into the middle of a war that could well be the death of them. As out of their depth as they have ever been, both must decide whether to stay and fight with the people who have become their friends or try to find a way home. The question is, will their bond survive or will the decisions they are each forced to make tear the brothers apart forever?

I'm hugely nervous and terrified of getting awful reviews for it, but nonetheless I am just a little proud to see it up there. I would like to thank while I'm here anyone who took the time to leave a review for any of my stories. Without that encouragement I might never have plucked up the courage to try my hand at writing my very own characters and whilst the fanfiction thing might not have turned out to be a huge success for me I will always have fond memories of the experience and the people I met because of it..

Another intriguing chapter :) I liked the fact you had Dean call Missouri and it was an interesting touch having Ellen be the one to go help them. Poor Sam is really suffering now - I hope Dean can sort this out soon. Looking forward to the next one!

Author's Response: It helped clear the air between Dean and Ellen. I was wondering what had happened after the incident with Jo, as I don't think the boys had any contact with the Roadhouse from then until AHBL1, when Dean called Ash. So I was curious - and you know what happens when I get curious....LOL. Thanks, sweet. And of course, if it comes to freaky psychic stuff, who better than a psychic to help Dean while his Psychic Wonder is down for the count...Jules

Damn - I'm so sorry, I somehow managed to miss last week's update! It was only when I saw this as I was posting one of my own that I realised! *ducks* Oh well, it was nice to read two in one go.. You're definitely upping the tension now - I love the interaction with Ellen and the boys, especially when she thought for a second Dean was serious about shooting Sam in the foot! That made me chuckle! I'm glad she's helping them out but they really are in it now. Can't wait to see how Sam will rescue his brother from this one.. :)

Author's Response: LOL - it's called real life, hon! And damn, how it gets in the way. Aww, thank you - yes, I am tightening it up a wee bit. And I intend to really drop them in off the deep end in the next chapter. Hmm, did I say that? Yes, I did - lol. Hope you enjoy, hon....Jules

OMG! You could have been kind at least and not left it on a cliff hanger! Bad Jules... Luckily it seems like the next chapter is already up so I can read it in comfort tonight since annoyingly work calls now. Great chapter as always and I enjoyed Dean mouthing off to Geoff - he really does need to get out of that habit! And Sammy's long legs save the day... LOL! :)

Author's Response: Oops..... lol. Yes, the epilogue was posted early. I had to bribe Sarah with Sammy pictures, but it was worth it. Ahh, Dean - well, it just wouldn't be Dean without that smart mouth, would it? But he does get himself into all sorts of strife with it - must be why we love him so....Jules

Really nice ending :) Although I ended up giggling at myself as I struggled for about 10 minutes at one point to work out what the hell Sam had said! Realistic example of someone with a cold though, of course! *g* Great story, hon.

Author's Response: LOL - I can provide a translation. I wanted to tie it in with Jared having a hell of a cold during the episode Roadkill, so I figured it would start with Sam being exhausted, and standing in the rain after Geoff was killed was just begging for the flu. Glad you liked it - this one has been in the folder for the longest time. Thanks for the awesome reviews hon...Jules

Well that just brightened my lunch break! That was really good, hon, and nice to see the boys get a chance to relax even if it was somewhat embarassing for Sam! I hope Alex liked it, but I'm sure she did given how up close and personal she got to get with Sammy! LOL! I really liked the banter and it was sweet how they both gave each other their prizes from the shooting gallery. Nice job, as always :)

Author's Response: Aww, thank you, sweet. Alex loved it, thankfully. (not sure if her husband did....) I had always planned the funnel cake bribe, and the exchange of gifts at the end. Some of the rest just took on a life of its own. And of course, the kiss was always planned - LOL...Jules

Really nicely done, hon. The goodbye scene was heartbreaking and I don't actually think I'll be able to watch if they really do have that in the show *sniff* I like that you had Ruby save Dean in the end - I personally think she's ok - but given the way it ends I really am glad that I already read the sequel and know it turns out ok! :) I too hope Kripke reads this and comes up with a way to save our boy that doesn't involve Sam turning to the wrong side... *crosses everything*

Author's Response: Thank you so much for that. And I'm with you in crossing everything. We need tee shirts - "Save Dean, and Don't Turn Sam Evil". Lead me to the printers'....Jules

That was nicely done. There is realistically no way Sam would not struggle at least for a little while with the fear of Dean being gone again, and I like how it made Dean more determined in the end to start fighting to get out of his deal. Good first effort :)

Great start to what is sure to be another awesome story from you *g* Loved Sam getting drunk and singing, and the fact that Dean fell for the trembling lip and let him keep the bottle! That and Bobby calling him 'sucker' for it was priceless and so in character. But poor Sammy - whiskey really does leave the worst hangovers... Can't wait to see what happens next :)

Author's Response: Hi, hon - glad you liked Drunk!Sam. He's a scream, isn't he? And yes, Dean falling for those deadly puppy dog eyes. Ahh, not a good hangover to have when you have a brother like Dean, and when you're just about to go on a demon hunt....Jules

Another great chapter. Loved the conversation about fushia, such a guy moment! Cute that the librarian was sweet on Sam too, makes a change from them all falling at Dean's feet! *g* The meal in the bar was just like watching an episode, felt really bad for Dean when a throwaway comment immediately killed the mood. But wow, I wasn't expecting the demon to recognise them - and now Sam just got his ass kicked. He's right.. Dean will be pissed... Can't wait for the next instalement! Oh, and get out from under the desk btw - Broken Images SO deserves to win! *nudges everyone towards the voting*

Author's Response:

Awww - officially blushing now... Thank you - and of course Alisa would have a thing for our favourite Geekboy - the real Alisa is a dyed-in-the-wool Sammy girl. Leaves Dean for you and me, hon. You grab his arms, I'll get his feet...

Another great chapter. Poor Sam, his concussion aftermath had me giggling even as I winced in sympathy. His dazed conversation with Dean was too funny, as was their chat with poor Harry. I'm intrigued as to what the demon is up to and now I'm on tenterhooks what he's gonna do with Dean. He really should learn about the splitting up thing! Oh, and last time I checked Sensue you were ahead by two *bounces* Not that I might have been pointing people at it from my LiveJournal page.... *whistles* :)

Author's Response:

Aww, Michaela - LiveJournal??? *hides under desk*. Actually, my aunt had a look today, and the voting's closed - you can't even see what the final tally was. So it's another few weeks of nail-biting, I suppose.

Glad you liked Concussed!Sam - he was stuck in a bit of a loop there, wasn't he? And yes, Dean and his - "we'll cover more ground if we split up" might just come back and bite him on the freckle.

Seriously, mate - thank you for your support in all this. You know I hold you in high regard as an author - you're in my top three, actually, so your praise means a lot to me. I'm glad to have gotten to know you as a friend....Jules

Another lovely chapter - poor Dean, concussion is no fun but did grin at the deja vu Sam had to put up with! So many funny lines I can't quote them all, but this one in particular made me giggle;

"Dude," Dean muttered as he studied the two middle-aged men sitting at the small table on the other side of the room. "Have you noticed we're kinda - collecting people?" He nudged Sam with his elbow as he settled on the bed, leaning across his brother to place a fresh takeout coffee on the nightstand.

Sam glanced up, snorted softly and continued his incantation, a worn set of wooden rosary beads dangling from his long fingers. He came to the end of the Latin prayer, and dropped the rosary beads into the bowl of water balanced on his knees. "No, Dean, I didn't notice that we have two formerly possessed guys camping out in our room. Thank you for letting me know."

 Priceless! The boys were in character as always and Harry & Al are growing on me already. Great description of the demon too, it sounds totally plausible. Poor librarian though, she really did want Sam to notice her...

 Until next time! Oh, and mega congrats on Broken Images winning the People's Choice award! *bounces*

Author's Response:

Thanks, hon - your praise means a lot to me. And Ukobach is real - he is referenced in the Dictionnaire Infernal.

Thank you for your support and your tireless campaigning on my behalf for Broken Images. Still can't believe I won....*stares at wall* - anyway, thanks - I can't tell you how much it means to me....Jules

Another great chapter, as always. I like that the boys have company this time, those guys are pretty cool. Nice action moments blended with the brotherly humour, and I loved Sam's panic when the garage exploded. Dean really does give him a fright sometimes! I think this was the bit that made me giggle most;

"Just hold still." The young hunter drew in a deep breath. "So - guess you didn't stop the demon in time."

Dean opened one eye and squinted at his sibling. "No, Einstein, we just let him blow up the garage for kicks."

Harry glanced up from across the room. "He always like this?"

"Pretty much." Sam ducked a clumsy swat and grinned faintly.

Great job - looking forward to going and reading the next one now :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, my friend. Glad you liked it - and that means a lot coming from you - the Queen of the brotherly moments. I do like the humour - it's such a big part of their relationship, and Dean's coping mechanism. And Sam has a wicked sense of humour when he lets it run.....Jules

Nicely wrapped up, hon. I enjoyed them finally cornering the demon, even if it wasn't in time to stop the fireworks (literally!), and I'm glad everyone was ok. Loved Bobby turning up as he'd been worried and it was sweet how glad Dean was to have a 'home' to go to, even if only now and then. The ending made me giggle too, with him worried about Bobby finding out they got their asses kicked by the midget demon! *g* I'm glad those folks have formed a club, they were nice and helpful. Good for the boys to have back up for once. Oh, but Sam getting kicked where he did? Ouch! That was just mean.. Even I winced at that one! I think this was my LOL moment in this chapter;

"What the hell have you two boys been doing?" the demon hunter demanded as he pushed by Dean and stormed into the room. "I've been tryin' to call you two for a day and a half!" He blinked in astonishment as his gaze swept around the room. "And who are these people?"

Dean shrugged as he tucked his .45 back into his waistband. "They followed us home, Bobby. Can we keep ‘em?"

Hope you have a nice sabbatical and that you feel better soon. Take care and thanks for another great story :)

Author's Response:

Thank you, Michaela. I wanted to round out the whole 'collecting people' theme, and that just seemed to be a perfect way to do it. And it actually was a nod to my favourite uncle, who passed away three years ago on the 30th of March. Alan was always bringing animals home - once it was a little dog that threw a fit on the kitchen floor and foamed at the mouth - and his excuse was always the same..."it followed me home, Mum - can I keep it?"

Thank you so much for your support, and for all your tireless campaigning on behalf of Broken Images. I will be back, but I really do need this break to recharge my fading batteries....Jules

That was a nice story.Really clever the way you tied in the vampire hunting them with the episodes, giving just enough info to actually make us think about which one it was. I enjoyed the typical Winchester banter when she finally caught up with them and this bit was so Dean it made me smile;

The elder hunter shook his head as he steered his brother away from the dead girl. "Man, that's taking OCD to a whole new level. Come on, let's get you back to the car and get the hell out of here before someone decides to check out that gunshot."

Very enjoyable :)

Author's Response: Thank you Michaela - much appreciated. Glad you liked the banter. It did originally start out as being Kate, but then I read an old story with her featured so I couldn't in good conscience use her - and then I thought of the girl Sam tried to rescue, and used her instead.

No, Sam decided, Dean never did have to say the other ‘L' word. He lived it, instead.

That really is the essence of SN for me, for both of them. They say it with every little thing they do for each other.

Great job :)

Author's Response: Ahh, that's all right - I don't mind you lurking, hon. And they do, don't they? Those boys - they say so much with their actions. Glad you liked it.

I finally caught up with this one and wow, what a roller coaster! Our poor boys are having even worse luck than usual, I think I cringed all the way through.. I hated that ER doctor for even suggesting Dean would hurt Sam - what a moron *grr* But then the crash, and now the bear - it just gets worse! I did smile once or twice, mainly at Bobby's typical lines, and I'm really on the edge of my seat now.. I have total faith in you of course, so I just know Sam WILL be found but I really hope poor Dean doesn't believe he's dead for too long. Look forward to more soon, hon *big hug*

Author's Response: Thank you, Michaela. Oh - you cringed? Um, sorry about that. This one is quite full of angst, isn't it? And it's not over yet, unfortunatey. Even when they do eventually find Sam, Dean has a long way to go to forgive himself for the accident. *hugs back*

Great chapter - I was so excited when they found Sam but poor Bobby is gonna feel so guilty now, not to mention Dean of course. I'm really glad that they're not going back to the hospital and that jerk of a doctor though, he'd definitely jump to the wrong conclusion again *grumble* Can't wait for the inevitable 'not a chick-flick' moment that is bound to be coming. More please :)

Author's Response: Oh, yes - especially after he jumped to the wrong conclusion about the bruises and the cut to Sam's head courtesy of Andy's girlfriend and the tree branch she hit him with. No, the boys won't have to face that particular nasty piece of work again. (the doctor, not Andy's girlfriend) Ahh, the 'so not having a chick-flick moment' - well, that's coming, but there's a bit of angst to get through first. Thanks hon.

Really great chapter. I really like the doctor, it's nice to see someone else who gets the boys and their relationship. Nice tie in with John too, especially the fact he clearly remembers him well! I feel so sorry for Dean with all that guilt though, and Sam feeling helpless to do anything for him. Lovely final scene/image. I can't wait to see them sort it all out, and for Bobby to make peace with what happened as well :)

Author's Response: Saul Collins makes a nice contrast to the other bas....not so nice doctor, doesn't he? Bobby gets to make some of his peace in the next chapter. But Dean - well, he always takes the hard road, doesn't he?

Author's Response: Thanks Michaela! He does find it hard, doesn't he? It's really the pot calling the kettle black when he keeps telling Sam he has to let things go. Ready for the 'so not a chick flick moment'? Hope you enjoy it.....Jules

I really liked the conversation at the end as well. Just the right amount of emotion while still being Winchester. And Sam adopting the rock *snorts* Priceless :)

Another great story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Author's Response: Thanks, Michaela. They do, don't they? I think they say a lot more with the silent communication than they do out loud. Ah, you like the pet rock? So chuffed that you enjoyed it so much....Jules

Yay! I'm very happy to see this posted as it's one of my favourites of yours. You are more than welcome btw for my 'permission', as it were, but there really was no need for you to worry - it is different enough to mine I doubt anyone would even have noticed! I loved the first chapter, even though I winced when the Impala shuddered to a halt. Despite the tension between the boys I still had to giggle at this bit, it was so Dean;

Dean's grin was forced. "Yeah, sure - I'll just get my instant workshop kit out of the trunk. Better stand back when I hit the Activate button - the thing's freakin' huge. Got a working hoist and everything."

"A simple ‘no' would have been fine, Dean."

LOL! But now I'm sad, with Sam having stalked off and poor Dean not knowing what's up. Looking forward to the next chapter :) I'm now off to recreate scenes from Phantom Traveller at the airport *gulp*

Author's Response:

Thank you Michaela - and thanks for the go-ahead. Hope your flight went well, and hope you didn't have to reach for the bourbon 40 minutes into the trip - LOL.

I know, I broke the Impala - well, technically Dean broke the Impala....*whistles innocently*...but she won't be down for long - just long enough....*cue evil laugh*.....Jules

Great update, as usual. You can really feel the tension escalating between the boys and it's keeping me on the edge of my seat! The old guy is slightly creepy and it's a curious story for sure. I did like the bit with the text, and the one word answer that showed all was ok with them, but poor Sam getting caught researching the deal - now Dean is really pissed *sigh* Amid all the angst and tension though, this really did make me laugh out loud;

A burst of music drowned out the tall hunter's grumbled cursing as he dumped his duffle on the dusky pink bedspread. Snatching the phone from his pocket, he flipped it open without looking at the caller ID. "You over your pissy mood?"

A startled grunt came over the phone. "Didn't know I was in one," Bobby's gravelly voice muttered wryly.

Priceless! Looking forward to more..

Author's Response:

Thanks Michaela. Lol - got to love Bobby - I just couldn't resist that temptation to have Dean really put his foot in it.

Yes, they're both under a lot of strain at the moment. Both touchy regarding anything to do with the deal. Hope nothing decides to stir the pot even further.....Jules

I see you posted this one early - that'll teach me to only check on Fridays! Loved it as usual, especially the fight on the phone and then Dean knowing Sam was sorry without him having to say it. Although fancy Sam thinking Dean would run out on him *shakes head* He should know better. He should also know better than to hunt alone of course, that was always gonna end badly. And he so can't lie to Dean, can he! *g* But that parting shot.. Ouch. That was way below the belt :( Off to read the next one now..

Author's Response: LOL - hi, Michaela - yes, I threw in a wee treat. Aww, thanks hon. I'm glad you loved it - and especially glad that you allowed me to continue with it. And no, Sam can't lie very well to Dean - and the same goes the other way. The tension just keeps mounting though - something's got to give...Jules
