I'm sure there are a lot of stories here better than mine! ;-) When I set out to write this it was with the intention of writing the kind of story I love to read: well-written, suspenseful, with a cast-iron plot and plausible whump... but my intention also is to take it way beyond just your garden-variety Hurt!Dean story. I'm paralleling a lot of events from later seasons because the story is essentially a re-imagining of Dean's Hell ordeal set within an episode tag, complete with Stockholm Syndrome, torture, PTSD: the whole nine yards. Plus, I'm also dropping in a lot of the boys' character strengths and flaws that we only find out about in later seasons... for example, Dean's abandonment issues and Sam's similarity to John.
