Date: 12/11/08 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 This story is really interesting. It's so sad that it was John that finally broke Dean, though certainly no surprise. John's odd parenting style with Dean is quite obviously the chink in Dean's armour -- which is why (I would imagine) the demons are always taunting Dean and torturing him with Dean's own doubts about his father loving and needing him. Great exploration of Dean's weaknesses here. One thing, though -- you keep using the word "captive" when I think you mean "captor." Dean's the captive -- his captors are the witch and her posse. Date: 16/12/08 Title: Chapter 10: TEN: Live And Let Die Awesome! Just flippin' awesome! I love that you ended it with some brother chasing/fighting. Those two are just so funny, especially when they're ribbing each other. I loved how it all worked out in the end, with Dean being untouchable and Moon being passed from Death's ownership to Dean's. Really, really clever plot twist there. So what comes next, huh? I hope you've got another story idea already brewing in your head! The poor kid, shackled to that bed with the traction cage, lonely and bored, and then ignored when Godzilla and Mothra go at each other (and going for the jugular, it looked like!). They should both be ashamed of themselves! I get that Sam is only 12/13, but to be such a brat when his big brother needs him...? He doesn't realize that all the luxuries he has, all those little pieces of "normal" that he enjoys, are because Dean's there to make sure he gets them. That calls for gratitude, little man! Great chapter! Summary:
Dean hated Poughkeepsie, but at least he wasn't starting high school there.

Date: 28/01/09 Title: Chapter 1: And that's a magic number I don't know how it is that I missed this one -- stupid, stupid me. First chapter's positively adorable. And Dean ordering the skank out of his car is exactly how I expected him to react. People think he's callous, but Sam's his achilles heel. That ho might as well have said all those things to Sam. I'm grinning like such a dork right now. And props to you for adding 'yo' after saying Jack Black rocks. Can't say I agree with you (he rubs me the wrong way), but the 'yo' thing is a particular favourite of mine, especially coming from white-as-white-gets girls like us. lol. Author's Response: Not stupid. I was, in my enthusiastic glee, posting my backlog of stories much more frequently than I probably should have. Wouldn't doubt if I scared some folks off, between the number of stories and the length of my chapters. Oh, and the het. ;) All that aside, I have been amazed at the reaction this story has received. I wrote it over a year ago and I still have folks telling me that it makes them grin like dorks. So, mission accomplished. Date: 28/01/09 Title: Chapter 2: Base eight is just like base ten if you're missing two fingers I confess, I was confused by the "Boy type" comment. If Dean had flat out asked, "Ranma?" when he saw the fingernail polish. And can I just say how much of a freaking spaz I was for Ranma 1/2 back in the day? Everything about Ryouga made me laugh like a loon. This was really bittersweet. That blow-up fight between Dean and Sally when she made that comment about John -- ouch that was painful, but completely understandable, on both sides. And then poor Sammy having to say goodbye... You really do know how to tug at the heartstrings! Author's Response: *I confess, I was confused by the "Boy type" comment.* Heh. I was referring specifically to some t-shirts that were produced some time ago - either "Boy Type" or "Girl Type" with a picture of the associated Ranma. ;) That's my esoteric reference for the story. *This was really bittersweet.* The conclusion was inevitable when I started writing it, but I had to write it anyway once the idea crept into my head. I did want to explore the concept of "normal" - both from Sam's yearnings and from how an outsider would see their lives. Given Sally's own father and Sam's bitterness, it wasn't a stretch for her to go the "deadbeat dad" route. Few scenes have been as difficult for me to write as the final scene in this one. *You really do know how to tug at the heartstrings!* One does one's best - though I would also posit that the Winchesters themselves lend themselves to angst mixed up with everything else... Date: 24/11/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Holy sweet mother!!!! This was just so.... Don't even know how to describe it. Touching, creepy, and then at the end, terrifying! Me no likie the implication of Castiel falling. I LUUURVE Castiel. But I do like that you have Castiel feeling that protective pull toward Dean. Awesome! Author's Response: I'm flattered that you enjoyed it so enthusiastically. Castiel reminds me so much of Dean - the hard, serious Dean that we just get glimpses of beneath the cocky, charmer. I can't see that much of Dean in another character and not want to give him someone to look after. Summary: Spoilers for Season 4. Dean finds his saving grace only to lose her.

Seriously, that was an act of purest evil. I love how sort of easy and natural this thing with Dean and Grace is. Not forced. Subtle, easy, painful, but natural. It's a great set-up for sex and babies later on. And you being evil, I already know you've killed her too (because you said so in the first chapter, didn't you?) Date: 09/01/09 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Oh thank you thank you thank you!!!! I've been waiting for someone to point out that just about everyone else in Hell had earned his/her trip there! Dean only ever went to Hell to save Sam and certainly didn't belong there -- had never earned his place there. But the people he tortured? They must have been seriously evil SOBs when they were topside. It's the fact that he was the one doing the torture that hurts Dean the most. I hope they can make a similar point on the show, because I so miss Dean and hate seeing him look so freakin' lost. Author's Response: You're welcome! If you were schooled by incredibly scary nuns as I was, you’d know a little about heaven and a whole lot about hell.

Doesn't all this hell stuff make you miss our pretty boy from season 1? I feel like crying every time I think of season 1 Dean. He was such a happy-go-lucky guy, even though he was damaged even then. I really, really like Grace a lot. But then that's no surprise, because I adored Jewels. I still don't think I can forgive you for killing her off-stage like that. Shame on you! I love how you're handling it here, though. The set-up is perfect because you've already established Jewels as being like family to Dean, and Grace as a childhood dreamgirl.
