Date: 28/05/08 Title: Chapter 1: Day 1 Ahhh, brotherly smush. I live for brotherly smush - and it's such a great brotherly smush ;-) I love how Sam repeats the most important part of it all "I got my brother back today". That's all that counts, even though Dean is going to chew him out for what he did (btw, will we get to know what he did or won't the story be about that?). And that one sentence about how Dean is so smart, but incapable of seeing how important he is was just spot on. That's how I've always seen him - with the life he lived saving others and risking his life to do so, he somehow unlearned to value himself. Great start, looking forward to more. Author's Response: You'll probably find out bits and pieces of what happened to Sam and what he did, but that's not the main focus. The main focus of this is Sam's efforts to get Dean back to "normal". I'm glad you liked it. :) Thanks for the review!

It's giving the story a nice flow. You really got them down in a good and credible tone - there's still a little awkwardness left between them, unsaid things and a slight distance that can be explained with Dean's experiences which Sam cannot share, but you see glimpses of the old relationship shine through. Love the fact that they both need the other around every once in a while. And banter about the car is always welcome. Right, now that I read this I think I'll see if I can figure out a banner for this story :D Author's Response: *squeals* Yay banner! I'm glad you like the format - I was a little wary when I first came up with it - wasn't sure how well it would go over. But I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks so much for the awesome review!

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who just doesn't get why Dean has such a low sense of self-worth. It's really driving me up the walls at times. Really. I mean, with what he's doing that guy is a frigging hero in most people's standard. The only reason that he's no comic book hero is that he doesn't have a superpower. And yet can't understand that somebody else is willing to make sacrifices for him. That he's worth the sacrifice, and that he's worth being saved. It's an essential Dean-trait, and I'm so glad you picked that one up for the story. And it's nice how you reveal a few glimpses and pieces about what Sam did to get Dean out of hell. And the mention of the second largest ball of twine gets you a plate of extra-cyber-cookies. Because honestly, that scene always makes me laugh ;-) Great chapter, I'm waiting for more. Author's Response: I'm glad I made you happy! :) I definitely think Dean's self-worth issues are a key thing to address, because in my mind, that's one of the main things that drove him to make the deal in the first place - to Dean, the only thing that made his life really worth something was Sam, when we all know that there is so much more to him! :) (Although Sam is definitely a part of him, no doubt.) OOOOHHH.... cookies! *munches* Thanks for that - I'm hungry! :) I'm glad you mentioned that you noticed that... I was hoping you would. Maybe I'll have to give you some sort of prize... a oneshot about a topic you choose? Hmmm... well, let me know if that intrigues you... ;) Summary:
Dean wondered faintly if his brother had somehow been possessed by the spirit of Evel Knievel. Oneshot inspired by a scene from the latest Indiana Jones movie. Date: 30/05/08 Title: Chapter 1: Rough Riders I love the image of Dean clinging to Sam on the bike, freaked out while Sam is actually enjoying it. It's a nice twist to their characters. I haven't seen the most recent Indiana Jones movie yet, but this was fun - and Sam worried about the car. Yay. I always knew he had a soft spot for the Impala. Summary:
Major spoilers for season 4. Dean didn't tell Sam about everything he had done in hell. Because some actions, some horrible deeds, should just stay nightmares. The thought that Dean could have encountered, or worse, tortured Bela in hell didn't even once cross my mind. Kudos for coming up with it. And Dean's reaction to it is absolutely in character. A great read :D Author's Response: :) Thanks Laura! I'm glad you liked the idea, it just sorta popped into my head. Thank for your review! :) |
