I'm enjoying this story, and here's the thing: I don't really like crossovers and I really don't like Stargate. And 8 chapters in, I'm still hooked on... a Stargate crossover? Dude! Whatever you're doing you're doing it well!

Sam thought for a moment, slowly pulling himself up the wall to his feet. He remembered the short time they'd spent in this house, the late summer nights starting to cool as the season wound to a close and they explored the place. It didn't take long for him to recognise the shadowy room where he'd woken up in the memory; the basement had felt different to the rest of the house even then.- I love how you place this story, reading it feels like actually being there.

Excellent update, can't  wait for the next :)

Ah, Christmas holidays-finally time to do some reading. Yay! This one's very promising (you can't tell, but I look very excited...). The thing about them squatting totally got to me...

Author's Response: glad you like it so far! i loved the idea of them being unable to even stay in a motel at times when i saw it, and it fitted in this story. just srting out the next chapter to post - hope you enjoy!

I especially loved the first few paragraphs, the descriptions were beautiful and foreboding at the same time.

And the three bikes going back constantly nagging at John, when the reader knows exactly why they turned around... just made me want to shout at him to turn around-now!

I didn't shout at my computer, though. I'm not that far gone..

Author's Response: oh, just wait. I'll have you screaming at it by the end! thanks for reading

Loved that the phone was answered (and bad news delivered) by someone totally oblivious. And complaining about 'stains', poor John.

it'll be a friday update again next week, I'm afraid, as I'm away for New Years, but hey. it's only one extra day...

A vet? Ouch, I guess that's National Insurance, Winchester style :)

Author's Response: was gonna put 'to be continued...' but i figured the screams would be deafening... preview coming up! and when i said rock, i meant more of a mountain. And hey! I know some very nice vets! ;) thanks hun - your support through this story has been nothing short of outstanding!

I'm having a great time with this story! "erstwhile" is definitely my new favorite word :)

And Sam's ass- quipping... geek humor at it's best! Which means it takes me back to pretty much every family dinner i ever had :)...

(didn't you mean "Lo and behold", though? )

Author's Response: Hi youthere,

Okay, so you spotted my deliberate error heehee!  Prize of virtual chocolate to the winner on their way!!  All been mended now thanks to Bev our Super-Poster.

Pleased you're enjoying it, we had loads of fun bouncing around Sam's Geeky quips, it sure p****d our Dean off though! As if sitting astride a bony backed mule wasn't bad enough.

Thanks for the reviews, looking forward to hearing what you make of the rest of it - it just keeps growing!

Hehe, and so it begins... The chapter title had e grinning before I even started reading :) Thanks to Dean's theory on how he lost his jacket, I've now got 'It's raining men' stuck in my head....still, loved the chap :)

Author's Response:

Hey Youthere.

Thanks for coming back again and I'm glad the title amused you.

It was the title of my two page ficlet that, along with Jane's idea of '12 saves', spawned this adventure!

Apologies for lodging the poor song choice in your head, we'll make it up to you with lots of seasonal Winchester whumpage!

And, why boxing day? Kind of a violent sport for the yuletide.... unless it's putting... stuff in... boxes?... Nope, don't  get it.

Happy holidays :)

Just when I thought them getting saved by a giant blow up reindeer was my favorite part of this story, they go and actually wear the damn thing! I can just see Dean's face peeking out from under a giant, PVC reindeer snout...*cracks up- again :)*

And Sam's flashlight beam dancing across his rippling muscles as he puts on the shirt.... yum!

Author's Response:

Hey Eva

All the best dressed hunters are wearing reindeer this year!

And its odd but all the 'undressing' chapters have been masterminded by Jane!  I am the pure one of the partnership....well Jane says the pain-monkey! And Kirsty our beta adds the real bad stuff.

Damn, I just love coming across quality one shots like this. It's really well written (and you even pull off 1st person, which it a tricky ***ch), with an original idea (his guns don't jam!) and intense without going melodramatic. I tip my hat to you (or would if I had one).

Okay... off to check out the rest of your stuff....

Author's Response:

Hey youthere.  Haha I love the first line of your review!  Totally makes it worth it.  I'm glad you liked the first person pov.  I personally do find it challenging, but easier at the same time.  If I am in the mood, it's almost as it first person let's me channel the characters.  I try to stay out of their heads, I heard it's a scary place to be haha.

And I thought I was going overboard, but you're the second person to tell me that I didn't even come close, that it was just right.

So thanks for the simply inspiring review!

That was a very nice alternate beginning. Dean's slow downwards spiral was very convincing. I especially liked the line about using other people as a defining characteristic. And I liked this slightly more damaged Sam, he seemed more intense than canon.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  I just have difficulty believing that three years away, two in radio silence is enough to just De-Winchesterize anyone, especially when we see how quickly Sam falls back into his role as hunter.
