:)  I read this back on ffnet, but I was waiting to review it here.  I am so glad to see a new chapter!  I'm glad to see slow improvement in Sam, and what an amazing step to see Sam trying to help Dean!

Salami pizza doesn't win any prizes, though.  Too greasy.  The boys can love it, but I can't follow :)

YuBaba and her bathhouse?  This sounds like Spirited Away!  I'm a big fan of the movie if it is.  It will be interesting to see where this goes and what you'll do with it.  Keep up the good work!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for reviewing :) I have a fan! YAY!

No, but seriously, yes. I think we're thinking about the same movie and I loved it too. The title for it in my native tongue is translated to Chihiro and the Witches, but I don't know if it's translated differently in other languages? I was completely shocked by the movie. It had me going "What the fuck?!" over and over. Seriously creeped me out so much and I became so inspired by it. It just set off tons of ideas and I decided I might as well try to act on some of them. To be honest I didn't expect a whole lotta reviews, if any, for this one. I know that the reviews for crossovers are slim to say the least. I don't think a lot of us really read them because they figure this site should be solely for Supernatural. But somtimes something about a certain movie or book just sticks :)

So when I say thank you for the review you can be sure I really really mean it :D Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

Author's Response:

Got curious after I read (and answered) your review. I checked it out. You were right. The movie is titled Spirited Away in english. Fixed it and hopefully I won't confuse people as much now :D.. Oh who am I kidding??

Date: 23/02/09 Title: Chapter 10: Wake Up....

I decided to wait and read it all at once to get the big picture rather than continue piece by piece.  I really liked what was going on in real life while Sam was off in the spirit world.  The drama in the hospital made it more intense, and the scene when Sam started waking up was great.  You managed to capture the weirdness of the Spirit world, and made it feel very much like a surreal trip down the rabbit hole.  I'm sorry that the other kids died.  I wish that Sam could have found a way to save them.

I think that Spirited Away is a very difficult thing to try a crossover with.  Miyazaki's imagery is so strange, and his blend of Japanese folklore and just his own weird made up folklore sometimes make it hard to relate to.  I think that you managed to do a good job of it.  There may have been a few awkward spots, but you were true to both worlds, and made a good story out of it at the same time.  Good job!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the faithful reivews :)

I knew this would be weird at best. There were a few awkward moments where I was less successful with the blending of the two stories. But the movie stuck with me and so did the story. I started out intending to make it a one shot, and in heindsight I should've probably stuck to that notion. Think it would've made for a better story as one shot. Thanks for the reviews. :)

Ohh!  Poor Sam!  I'm all sniffly right now!  I was wondering how you'd handle this Thanksgiving.  It was wonderful, and I look forward to seeing Dean's side of things.  Something else that tickled me...Sam spent his day researching Appalachian folklore, and so did I today!  Happy coincidences.

Author's Response:

LOL That IS a coincidence. I've spent a lot of time reading up on Appalachian folklore, so I snuck that in there for me, too. LOL

I'm so glad you came back to read and review this chapter. It means a lot to me to hear what you think. I went ahead and posted the Dean POV piece. I hope you enjoy! :)

I REALLY want to cook Thanksgiving dinner for these guys, because turkey pot pies for Thanksgiving is SAD.  I loved when they were watching the movie, how Dean would smirk.  I can picture him playing out the same jokes he and Sam always made whenever they watch the movie.  Great detail.

Author's Response:

I know, it was kinda a pitiful dinner, wasn't it? :(

THANK YOU for picking up that when Dean was watching the movie, he was listening to his internal "Sammy" dialogue. I was afraid I'd gone too subtle on that, since no one on the other site where I posted this caught it. I'm so glad you did!

I really appreciate you taking the time to read and review. It means a lot to me. The next chapter should go up in a couple of days. Hope to see you back here then! :)

This was the Thanksgiving I was most anxious to read about.  It didn't disappoint!  Poor Sam, grieving, and Dean trying hard to make things right.  How fitting that they had to share a piece of pie.

Author's Response:

Hey there! Thanks so much for coming back to read this chapter, I appreciate it!

I'm so happy you liked this one, them together for the first time after Stanford. I worked really hard to show Sam's grieving in a realistic way, but also to show the flip side of that--that Dean brought comfort, and hope. I'm so glad you liked it!

The next chapter should go up sometime next week. Hope to see you back here then! :)

Oh, I'm glad you added the little epilogue!  How awful that they didn't end up doing Thanksgiving at ALL!  You always do so well tapping into the emotion and mood of whatever year they're celebrating.  I've enjoyed that.

Author's Response:

Hey there! Thank you for the wonderful review you left for this chapter, I really appreciate it.

I'm glad you liked the little epilogue, I just couldn't stand to leave it with the original ending, it was too sad. I really appreciate you saying that I do a good job tapping into the emotion/mood of the year they're celebrating--I spend a tremendous amount of time working on that, so I'm really pleased that you find it's been ringing true.

I don't know if you're at all interested, but I have two other one-shots posted here on the site--one that takes place partly during their childhood, partly in Season 3 called "Just Like My Big Brother". The other is set early in Season 3 and is called "Parenting Your Gifted Child". If you take a look, I'd love to hear what you think of them. No pressure though. :)

Thanks again for taking the time to read and review! I hope to get the next chapter up sometime next week.

I'm wondering if you're going to add on to this when we find out what Thanksgiving will be like in season 5!

So, let's see.  We've had pumpkin pie soda, and now pumpkin pie CANDY.  How many more ways can you do pumpkin pie?  oo!  Gum.  I'll be somewhere there's pumpkin pie gum.  And chapstick.

We know what Dean's last Christmas was like.  I was glad to see Thanksgiving too.  Glad that Sam woke up and still had time to fix things.  I will be sad to see these stories come to an end.

Author's Response:

Don't forget about the pumpkin pie milkshake! LOL Oh, yes...I have a master list of pumpkin pie substitutes. ;)

I'm so glad that you liked this chapter, and it's really sweet of you to say you'll be sad to see these stories come to an end. I will too.

Although, you're absolutely right--I do plan to see where Season 5 takes us. It's been my plan all along to do as complete a job as I can with these, so depending on how things are going in S5, I definitely plan to come back and do another one (but only if there's a way to give it a happy/hopeful ending). I also plan to possibly do one that occurs right after the series finale, depending on how things end. Again, only if it will end things on an uplifting note with the boys together and happy. I insist on a happy ending. Darn it. ;)

But I may also at some point come back and do a "missing scene" where I fill in one or two of the years I've skipped--cuz I keep getting ideas...apparently, I'm dangerous when given a theme. LOL And I have a really (I think) funny one I'd love to do...so we'll see. ;)

Anyway, hope that answers your question. I hope to get the next chapter up in the next week or two. The new fic should go up around then too, hope you'll check it out. :)

Hooray!  What a great ending (for now)!  I've mentioned before how much I've enjoyed these stories, and this was no exception.  I'm glad that you left it on a positive note, and yes, right after Heaven and Hell is a perfect little place for that.   You've got some great details here that I loved.  The one that caught my attention was Sam chewing on his thumb- don't ask my why that stood out, but it made me smile.

I have to agree about the pie.  When I grew up, our small town in Oregon had a festival and our church had a pie booth.  Every year, my mother signed up to make 50 pies, and my sister and I were the support staff.  You name the type of pie, I have probably made it.  Except Pistachio.  I have never heard of a pistachio pie.  Do you have a recipe for that thing?

I wish the wait wasn't going to be so long for season five.  I hope that someday you get the inspiration to fill in some extra years.  I will be glad to see them.

Author's Response:

Hey there! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this, but I wanted to thank you for the great review you left on this last chapter. I really appreciate your support throughout the entire series, it's meant a lot.

I'm really glad you enjoyed this chapter at Bobby's, and the series as a whole. I'm tickled that the detail with Sam chewing his thumb stood out to you, I debated over leaving that in, so I'm glad it worked for you!

Oh yeah, pistachio pie is my favorite. If you really want the recipe, email me and I'll try to find it again. :)

Thanks again!

I don't think my review on this chapter counts.  It's clearly for another chapter, and I clicked on something wrong.  In fact, if I remember right, I didn't even start reading this story until you had gotten several chapters into it.  So I wouldn't have reviewed the first chapter in the first place.  Well, here's to fixing it.  I remember this chapter, actually.  It's normal.  It's sweet, and a little painful when you think of everything that comes after.

I'm trying to decide if I would still have Thanksgiving after a big family tragedy.  I think I would be the type who would cook EVERYTHING even if I didn't feel like I could do it.  It sounds awful to tell it, but the day my father-in-law died I had a show booked at the local library for a bunch of toddlers.  I showed up at my in-laws with my witch costume in tow, and waited for the coroner with the family with my witch hat complete with dangling spiders on my head.  I did the show- 73 toddlers there- even though the librarians said it would be fine if I cancelled.  I just felt like he would have been really mad at me if I hadn't performed for those kids, and I'm willing to bet he was there to see it.  I cried when the show was done.

That was probably more than you needed to know!  This means you did a good job.  We all have our stories of dealing with loss, and I can't help thinking of those times when I read this.
