Date: 28/10/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Great little missing scene, I actually really wish that they'd put something like this in now. Loved the confusion over the 'partner', the way she handled the burn mark and the best line I think I've read for a while - the 'can I come in?' line was sooo Dean that I could see the little scene in my head right down to the cocky little seductive smile that you just know that he was wearing. I do think that is the one thing both we and Dean realize about his situation, how the torture and pressure to conform to Alastair's demands are something that Dean would never ever consider doing in his "real" life. That, I'm sure, is part of what twists Dean's guts, that he was forced to become something he would never be and then do things he could never imagine doing. Dean silently wished he could feel so blissed out, that he could forget his time in Hell and actually enjoy Christmas with Sammy. He wanted to bury his thoughts and take a real break, suddenly wanting to make this holiday special for his brother just like Sam had done for him last year. I like the way you've written the boys in this, I know what you mean though about it being hard to get a grip on them this season, they seem to change with almost every episode and then they have a moment when you don't feel that they have changed at all. Strange sometimes! Nice start, can't wait for the rest! Mary xx Author's Response: Hi, Mary, I know what you mean - both boys are carrying so much baggage that it's a wonder they aren't complete basket cases by now. But the flashes of the old relationship are still there - like Sam's reaction to the teddy bear in Wishful Thinking, and that wonderful look between them during the pool scam at the start of eppy 9. I'm hanging on to the hope that their brotherly bond will outlast everything that heaven and hell will throw at them. As for what's happening - well, it will be explained in great detail in chapter 2, but basically Sam's been rewound a few months - he thinks Dean's still in hell. Poor Sam but Dean's words were kind of deserved and then Bobby crying broke my heart, he's such a gruff old thing but he loves the boys and you showed that here, John would just of barrelled in, not stopped to check if it would do more harm than good.
