And after reading an E!Online article back in 2009 that referenced the famous Amy Winehouse "Rehab" song in regards to Sammy's little demon drinking problem, I got.... inspired to change the lyrics to fit the Supernatural-verse.

I originally wrote this back in 2009, and unfortunately I just got around to posting it here. Enjoy!

I really liked this look inside Dean's head. I had this on my to read list when I had time and I was not disappointed.  Hope all is well and happy holidays! :) Claudia

Author's Response:

Hi, Claudia,

Hope your Christmas break is going well. Lots of snow where you are? We had a very still and muggy day, followed by a thunderstorm alert this afternoon. The worst storms missed us, thankfully.

Thanks for that. I'm glad you enjoyed this little peek inside Dean's most private thoughts. I figured that he'd let his guard down while alone and with no one to keep up the game face for, so it was lovely grist to get my teeth into and pull some angst onto the page.

Dean's head these days is almost as messed up as Sam's, and that's really saying something. We've seen this type of self-destructive behaviour before, after John's death. Heaven knows what's going to happen now that Bobby's gone.

Take care, and I'll no doubt chat to you in the new year!

Merry Christmas

Jules

So my new year of 2012 started off with the loss of my dad so I've been kind of out of the loop.  I decided to try and find all the things I missed and I had missed this story.

Like all your stories it was wonderful.  With my dad gone, I'm glad I waited until now to read this because I was hurting like the boys for a while.  Loss is hard and you captured it so well in this.

I liked the tie in with Mary from your other story.  It was nice and sweet and I'm glad the boys got to save her again.  Love the flashlight star.  Just a great little story. :)

Author's Response:

Hi, Claudia,

I was so sorry to hear about your dad passing away. And I don't blame you at all for being out of the loop. I've been the same, but for slightly different reasons.

Loss is hard, and it never really goes away. My grandmother died in 1988 and I still miss her terribly. It softens over time, but there's always that little hole there in your heart that can't be filled.

So thrilled that you enjoyed the Mary tie-in. I can't remember off-hand who mentioned to me in a review that it would be good for the boys to meet up with her again some years down the track. I didn't have a clue at the time what I'd do with that scenario, but I filed it away - I never throw out a story idea. Then when it came time to do the Christmas story last year, I played around with the idea, worked out how old she'd be, etc, and decided I could make it work.

Oh, and Mary's little Bright Star is a real torch - flashlight, you'd call it. I looked it up! And it was just way too good not to use.

Thanks so much for stopping in to let me know what you thought, and I'm so sorry I'm so damned late with this reply.

Jules

Dean wasn't in Kansas anymore, huh?  Poor  fever befuddled man.  But good black mail for Sammy.  I enjoyed this little dream tale.

So you have suffered loss recently too.  I'm sorry to hear that.  Sounds like you have had a rough and busy time.

Same here. My kids have kept me busy.  I just now have got back into reading and writing fan fic.  I did watch all of Season 7 and I liked it.  I'm excited for 8.

Hope to see a new story from you soon- I always enjoy them. :) Claudia

Author's Response:

Claudia,

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. You have our deepest sympathies (mine and Christine's). It's hard when you lose family, especially someone who's been such a big part of your life like a parent. They leave a hole that can't ever be filled.

But I hope that with time, you'll recall happy memories and not so much of the ache of the loss.

As for the story, I'm glad you enjoyed it, hun. I have no idea where it came from, but I had fun linking all the scenes together. And  promise I'll be back at some stage with a new story. Once the house is sorted.

That's my goal.

Until then, take care.

Jules

Glad to read something new from you!  This was wonderful and I think some of the best stories are based off of something that happened to us in real life.  Hope life is going smoother for you! :) Claudia

Author's Response:

Hi, Claudia,

I think I still owe you a reply on another story. Getting there - haven't forgotten, just been in a bit of a life battle lately.

But things are smoothing out finally. I did hit bottom in the last month, but I'm climbing back up again.

I think that as well, about drawing on life experiences. I remember when I wrote Metamorphosis, I drew on my own grief over my grandfather's death to tap into Sam's grief over losing Jess, and those first dark days after the fire. I remember I had a jigsaw puzzle programme on the computer, and did puzzle after puzzle, like I was locked into that one action and couldn't do, or think of, anything else beyond that. For Sam, it was hunting down Jess' killer, but it was busywork - he wasn't making any real progress. After all, their dad had tried for 22 years to find it.

Hope things are going a little easier for you, too. No matter what age we are, losing a parent is still a huge blow, and leaves a hole in our hearts that takes a long time to stop hurting - if it ever does. My grandmother, who raised me, died in 1988, and I still miss her.

Hang in there. And if you want to talk, you've got my email addy.

hugs,

Jules

I'm always late to the game so to speak.  When you posted this story- life was insane and I tucked it away for a rainy day so to speak.  Life is still hectic and I'm hormonal and needed a pick me up!  This weeks episode helped and I adored this story too!

I love how when the show tears the boys apart you find a way to try and fix it and I love you for that.  I'm a glass half full kind of gal so this is what I needed.

I also just read the review replies you left me for the last batch of stories I reviewed of yours.  I appreciate you and Christine's well wishes over the loss of my father.  Time heals and I've been so busy so that helps too but  yeah, still miss him lots.

I'm so glad you are still part of the fandom when so many of my favorite authors have bailed.  Your stories always bring me joy so thank you so much for sharing!

:) Claudia

Author's Response:

Hun, my grandmother (who raised me) died in 1988, and I still miss her. You always carry that little hole in your heart that key people in your life leave; you just learn to deal with it a bit better over time. I think that's perhaps the "time heals" bit, because we never forget them. We just somehow work out a way to keep going without them being here.

Yeah, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Pollyanna - I have to have my happy ending! Even during season 8 when things were messy and I wanted to smack my beloved Dean over the head with a very large lump of wood. So I tried to get inside his head a little - scary place at the best of times...almost as bad as being inside my own head at the moment....and attempt to dig right down into what he was thinking and feeling, and how he would rationalise everything when he was alone - and after he'd been given a wee bit of hope in the form of a little present from Sammy.

And don't worry, my friend - I'm down but not out where writing is concerned. It's been hard to do, but you know, even though I've found the actual writing process difficult, the ideas still keep coming. Weird, isn't it? If I could just get them from my head to the Word document, I'd be a very happy bunny, as my wonderful beta Ziggy would say. (actually she'd be a pretty happy bunny, too, just quietly - lol)

Anyway, Claudia - I'm sending you a little pick-me-up via email. Hope you enjoy, and hang in there. You're in our prayers.

hugs,

Jules
