Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 I don't envy any doctors who have to give bad news to a Winchester... Poor, poor Sammy - that was hard hearing how many times he crashed, and that he now can't breathe on his own. Damn that b*tch! What the hell was in those drugs?? Hope Sam can hang on until the docs find out how to treat him. I think the next chapter's going to be angsty... Jules Author's Response: I am always so over the top, it's just my thing, always has been. Thanks for the wonderful review. Hugs, Vonnie

I wondered, too, whether Tom might be involved somehow - he seemed to have wanted to keep Sally from the bar while Joanna was doing her dirty work. Wonder if he turns out to be the dealer. Hopefully John won't be too long away from the hospital - have a feeling Dean's going to need him. Didn't blame Dean one little bit for refusing to leave Sam's side, not even to talk to the police. Jules Author's Response: Well, it's going to get worse before it gets better. John and Dean sure will need one another. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6 "I might not always show it but I would go to hell for either one of you." Very true - although I'm betting Sam would never have thought so. That was a nice moment between John and Dean when he finally unbent enough to give his son the comfort he was needing. And it's great that Caleb has been put on that horrible hag's trail - she won't get far with a hunter after her. Am hoping that it really was a frown on Sam's face, and not just Dean hallucinating. Things aren't looking too good for our favourite geek. Jules Author's Response: I love writing John and I guess he is always a little AU in my stories. I just can't picture him as the hard hearted father the show and so many other's portray him. To me he always has a reason for acting the way he is and he isn't father of the year but he loves his boys. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Oh, no...... John's right - he'll lose both his sons if Sam dies. I love Pastor Jim - he really wasn't in the show enough. I could just picture him coming to the hospital to be with the Winchesters and to pray over Sam. Let's hope that his prayers are answered. And what a terrible way for Dean to find out - I could hear that stricken scream torn straight from his soul as the doctor announced that Sam was dying. Jules Author's Response: I love Pastor Jim. I would have loved to see him more in the show. He also gives me the freedom to portrait him the way I wont, because he can be anyway I want him to be. Thanks for another review. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Dean brought Sam back, I just know it. Dean's voice, always an anchor for Sam, coupled with Pastor Jim's fervent prayer. I really loved that description of the afternoon sunlight falling across Sam's face. And as someone who has NEVER believed for one second that Sam is evil, that description of him being angelic and other-worldly just fitted him beautifully. I hope the doctor is right and that Sam is finally starting to improve. Jules Author's Response: Wow, you did take the words right out of my heart. I also never believed Sam was evil. I'm so glad you liked my description.Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Oh gosh! Is it just confusion because of all the drugs and the treatment, or is it something much worse? My heart was in my mouth when I read that last line. Good for Pastor Jim helping to get Dean to eat, though. But trust the Winchester luck that Sam picked that moment to try to wake up. I'm betting Dean won't be hungry any more after seeing that spark of fear in Sam's eyes. Jules Author's Response: Drugs and alcohol are so dangerous and there is no way ever to minimize their danger. Mixed together they are even worse and I wish more people would understand that. I have nothing against drinking alcohol if you are old enough an do it in limits. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 10: Chapter 10 Good! Caleb got that b*tch! I hope she gets what's coming to her. Thank heavens that Sam's reaction on waking was just normal for his condition. And I like the fact that the doctor understood Dean's reaction. I'm glad, too, that Pastor Jim nailed John about feeling guilty and not letting Sam see him in the room. Sam is going to need all of his family while he pulls out of this, not just Dean. Hopefully John will realise that. Jules Author's Response: You are right, family is the only thing that counts here. Sam needs all the help he can get. I'm jumping in joy over all the reviews you are giving me. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Brotherly love, who understands it? Who, indeed....WE DO!!!!! *bounces happily* Awwwwwww.....that was a lovely moment - a few lovely moments, actually, between the Winchesters. I loved that John was finally alone with Sam and they got things sorted out - even if it's only for now. Loved the image of John stroking his baby boy's hair as Sam drifted off to sleep. And Sammy's walking!!! Yeah, okay, baby steps, but still...*grins*... Oh, and yep, I agree 100% with John - that would have been the fastest shower on record for Dean - ROFL!! Jules Author's Response: Well, after all the anxiety you finally got something to awe and laugh at. I'm just happy you hung in there this long. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Hmm - I was wondering whether Sam would remember on his own. That freakishly brilliant mind of his....nothing gets forgotten for very long, does it? So now he remembers, and they will have to deal with the guilt and the aftermath. Nice moment with Dean being the awesome big brother. Have to say, though - that meal sounded delish! If only Pastor Jim was still alive, he could come cook for me! Jules Author's Response: I'm more than happy to come and cook you a few nice meals. I'm a pretty good cook. I mean I'm not a professional chef, but I love to cook and try new things. You sure deserve it after all this reading and reviewing. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Yep, amen to that, Jim. I bet it came as quite a shock to Dean and John that Sam didn't have a clue what he'd taken. Thankfully they let him tell his side of the story, allowing their anger and disappointment to drain away. And I'm sure it did Dean good to hear that Sam had actually been looking for him to talk things out like he always did, and that he didn't just head for the bar to get drunk and bury the hurt. Hopefully Sam will give himself a break when he regains a little more of his strength. Jules Author's Response: I wanted to show that sometimes you get yourself into trouble without looking for it. Dean needed to hear his brother trusted him and he was still the one he would come to with all his troubles. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 14/10/09 Title: Chapter 14: Chapter 14 How sad that there is such a gulf between them that could so easily have been avoided. Damn the Winchester habit of keeping secrets. We saw how damaging it was for the boys during S4 - but they had a good teacher in John. Apologies to John fans. And poor Sam, still thinking that his family don't think he's valuable. I wonder how much of his desire to go to college was to prove that he could do something without his family's help. Or a wish for his dad to finally be proud and show it. Lovely, sad, touching story, hun. I don't know how I missed it for so long. Jules Author's Response: Thanks again for every single reviews. I'm glad you liked. John taught his boys well about keeping secret, he just missed to tell them that they also keep people apart and obviously the lessons they learned never thought them this. Again, thanks, it means so much. Hugs, Vonnie Summary:

And now he's fighting for his life. I hope that on some level he hears his big brother's pleas. Don't give up, Sammy.......Jules Author's Response: Awww, thanks for all of your kind words Jules. You are so sweet! I will try to update asap! Thanks again! ~Kayla

Saw it on the Just Added list, but my hands were playing up and I filed it away to review when the pain subsided a little. And then my mind went elsewhere and I completely forgot.....*holds out hand to be smacked*.... Lovely scene when Sam woke up and found Dean using him as a pillow. And very typical that he wouldn't talk about his nightmares and worry his big brother even more than Dean already was. He's still got a long way to go, but as Dean said, he's a Winchester. Jules Author's Response: Oh Jules, don't worry about not reviewing! How are you feeling now? Better I hope! Thank you for reviewing! :D I tried very hard to get the brotherly feel to that scene. I'm glad you liked it. :D You make me smile. ~Kayla Summary: The boys take over a hunt that Bobby started. It looks like a simple salt and burn, but when are things ever easy for the Winchesters?

Date: 15/10/09 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Loved the opening scenes - and adored Dr Dean - lol. Sneaky Dr Dean though, giving Sam the nighttime medication so he'd sleep it off. Still, it's not really boding well one of them being a bit off-colour before going into a hunt involving a spirit with a grudge against his brother....*cue scary music*.... I'm loving your back catalogue, Vonnie. I could lose myself for hours in here. Jules Author's Response: Wow, thanks I would have never expected this.I'm glad I can entertain you a little. Date: 15/10/09 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Hmm... can it be that easy? Fifteen more chapters plus the title tells me it won't - lol. Poor Sammy feeling guilty over the spirit throwing Dean around. It really wasn't his fault though. Ooh, and I loved the mirror-image of Dean saying he was born ready, echoing Sam's statement when they first got to the house. So, big ouchies for Deany-babe. And it's not over yet, is it? Jules Author's Response: Nope, not over by far. You're right, the title kinda gives it away. Thanks again. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 15/10/09 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Uh-oh.....wet clothes - my aunt ended up with pneumonia after sitting around in wet clothes one Christmas/New Year - and that was in summer! This is the middle of winter - Sammy's about to be in deep doo-doo, isn't he? Really loved Sam's little mantra, and his determination to keep going and save Dean. They really are so linked to each other - they are each other's strength, no doubt about it. And ooh - you hurt the Impala!!!! *clutches chest in shock*... Here's hoping there's a rescue plan for all three injured Winchesters. Jules Author's Response: Hey, if I hurt Sam and Dean, I have to hurt Baby too, wouldn't be fair otherwise. Anyway, you're right, Sammy is in deep doo-doo. It sounds like you are having fun. Thanks and hugs, Vonnie

Date: 18/10/09 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 This isn't going to end well...both brothers being stubborn about seeking medical attention is just going to lead to bucketloads of trouble. And Sam going out into the cold with damp hair after his shower -never mind that he's got that cap thingy on, it's still damp underneath. And now he's going out to get the Impala? Oh, yikes. Hope that Dean will keep his phone handy - I have a feeling he's going to need it. *chews nails worriedly* Jules Author's Response: Wow, I just hope you didn't chew your nails up too badly. I would hate to know you hurt yourself. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 18/10/09 Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5 OHMIGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was all set to get seriously warm and fuzzy over Tom and his kindness to Sammy until that last line about the yellow eyes!!! OMG!!!!!!!! And Dean's not in a good way either - that concussion is much worse. Oh-oh-oh! Sam, don't go! Ooh, this is going to be sooooo messy. Is it too much to hope that Brenda would run out and stop Sammy before he drives off? Yeah, thought so.......*sniffles* Jules Author's Response: So now I owe you a box of tissues for the sniffles I gave you. I just couldn't help myself, it would be too easy otherwise. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 18/10/09 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Awwww.....I loved that end scene. Thank heavens that Sam still had enough presence of mind to put Bobby down as a contact, and that he actually picked up. Uncle Bobby to the rescue! I so love Bobby. I can't believe that there were people who actually complained about how much screen time Bobby had in Season 4 - and worse, that Jim Beaver got to hear about it and felt that he had to clarify that he hadn't been in it any more hours than S3. OMG, what is wrong with people????? Anyway, rant over - and I'm really glad to see you use Bobby in this story, hun. He is so much of a father figure to the boys. But oh, Sammy - he's in a bad way, isn't he? Thankfully Bobby didn't muck around and called the emergency number straight away. But I have a feeling that Sam won't start getting better until he understands that he hasn't failed Dean and that Dean will be all right. Jules Author's Response: I love Bobby, he is such a rough, gruff guy with a heart of gold. I love to use him in my stories. Good to hear you like him too. I don't understand some people either. I mean what's so bad about Bobby having more screen time, even if it wasn't true. Hugs, Vonnie

Date: 18/10/09 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 Thank heavens the ambulance arrived promptly. Could really feel Bobby's concern, and his momentary unease about letting Sam go unescorted in the ambulance. And that was a lovely moment when Dean woke, his first thoughts about his brother, and was immediately soothed by Bobby's reassurance that Sam was getting the help he needed. They trust him so much. As they should. But that doesn't sound as though Dr Connell is going to give Uncle Bobby good news about his youngest 'nephew'.... Jules Author's Response: You are right, the boys have every reason to trust Bobby. He is always there for them when they need him. Hugs, Vonnie |
