note 21/12/08 This was started before Lazarus Rising. I do not claim the pictures as my own, all are borrowed off the net. Having been into discussions on The Vaults regarding what makes a good title and can it be changed, I have added to this story the title I would like it to be but will leave the former title in place as well. The Guardians (Black Dog - White Dog) are based on the South American folklore tale of the Cadejo, a mystical dog-like beast sometimes with glowing red eyes and it could change from black to white and vice versa. Date: 28/09/08 Title: Chapter 6: My Name is Sam Winchester I really really like your story. It is well written, flows well and grips you, so that you don't want to quit reading it. I like the way you describe Sam's feelings, how he tries to figure out what is going on. How he wants to hold on to the reality with Dean alive, just because he has him there, yet lets it go because it feels less real than the other one. I loved the way you had Dean realize that he was wrong about Sam being strong enough to endure loosing him, yet on the other side unable to ever do anything else then what he did. The emotions were so raw and palpable. The same about the conflict he had about Bobby. I would love to see you write some Sam conflict and then the reunion. Loved the part of Dean moving to Sam's bed so little brother would feel safe. The way he thought about Sam being strong, because he kept fighting even when he thought Dean was dead. Sam not wanting to talk about it because he felt he needed to start dealing with things without big brother. You are really an awesome writer and I can't get enough of your stories. What you got here surely came from your heart and I can feel it. I can't wait to see how you have Sam deal with his grief but also how Dean will deal with his. I already can see how he griefs for not just just with his brother. You are an awesome writer and I have the feeling you will more than live up to your potential. On the other hand, I want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. It doesn't matter how old someone is when they die, they will always leave a huge hole in the live of those that they leave behind. To go on with our lives seems sometimes almost impossible but the the love they leave behind will never be taken from us. Your pop sounds like he was a really awesome man and left you with quite a legacy. I can see the love you have for him and I hope that you will find hope and healing in your times of despair. Date: 01/11/08 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 I'm sorry about your infected fingers. As much as I hate to wait for the next chapter, I want you to take care of yourself and get those healed. Now to the chapter, it was like always great. Lots of emotions. I feel bad for Dean, trying to get through to his little brother and doing what he thinks is right, and it is just not working. And Sam, he won't eat and if he does, he can't seem to keep it down. He can't sleep because of the nightmares, he can't find anything useful to help whatever killed his girlfriend and he can't do anything else, because he seems to panic whenever he comes in contact with the outside world. I'm glad he found some comfort in the Impala, which I suspect is not just because of no ceiling, but possibly also because it has been part of his life since he was born. Excellent chapter. Date: 07/11/08 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Excellent chapter. I loved Sam slowly coming around and Dean helping either by pushing or giving him space. Also loved the fact that Dean admired his brothers fighting exercise and than started to give him tips how to improve. Awesome job. I can't wait for the next chapter. I think that some part of Dean will always see Sam as a little mop-top kid with big eyes and chubby cheeks, and will always feel that drive to protect him with every fibre of his being. But every now and then he gets glimpses of the man Sam has become, and I think that it pulls him up a bit - makes him proud, too. And of course, Dean was always more of the mentor/parent to Sam, so it makes sense that he would step naturally back into that role when the opportunity presented itself. Allowing Sam to find an outlet for some of that rage, and letting it go, was high on Dean's list of priorities. Oh, and a little bird (a blue eyed demon bird, actually) tells me that you are one of the authors doing a round robin at the moment? What was the title....The Nightmare Before Hallowe'en? Have I got it right? I hope that you all can agree to post it on here - I'd love to read it. Good luck with it, hon - I hope it's a roaring success.......*hugs*....Jules

Date: 28/11/08 Title: Chapter 6: Epilogue This was just what I needed. You did such a wonderful and awesome job with Sam's feelings about Jessica's death. His grief, paired with the guilt of being the cause for her death and not being there to protect her, the confusion over what to do now and his slow metamorphosis into the hunter were heart and breathtaking. You did this well justice and I feel very strongly that this is very much how the Sam from the pilot would have acted and felt. I also loved Dean's big brotherly attitude, His love for Sam, his unusual patience, with showed how deep his bond with his brother actually reaches (even though they were apart for so long). His helplessness and the eventual decisions in his quest to help his kid brother felt very real also. The supporting characters very very well woven into the plot and added wonderfully to the plot. There was an intensity to this story, that was almost painful, but in a good way, if you understand what I mean. It made me love this story, because I could feel the emotional turmoil and pain. I'm not sure what I would have done if it had fallen flat on its face. Grief is such a roller-coaster - one I've travelled on a few times, sad to say. In tapping into Sam's grief, I unlocked the Pandora's Box of my own. I actually couldn't face working on this story for weeks after my grandfather passed away, because it was just too close to home. So some of that intensity is mine. I have a sense of guilt over my man's death - we argued over something so trivial the last time I spoke to him, and I couldn't quite forgive myself for that. I have carried that guilt with me for many years, because I never got to say I was sorry. He slipped into a coma the next day, and two days after that, he died. So I can understand full well where Sam is coming from. I just thank God that I could translate that to the page and make it believable.
