LOL this is really getting to Dean i guess...thank god Sam is the voice of reason....i would hate to think that they would go ahead and do things without thinking... And bless Bobby.....i like the fact that he also tries to rein Dean in...i'm afraid of him becoming more out of control, and Sam needs all the help he can get.... Date: 28/03/08 Title: Chapter 9: Bleeding Out I sincerely hope that he did the right thing and wait for Bobby. i don't think he can take down the vamps by himself and i don't think it will help Dean if he goes in by himself as well. And Dean as food!!! Although i know some of us would love to bite him -hahahahahaha- but i don't think it's a good way to keep him alive. i only hope they won't take too much of him before Sam and Bobby comes to the rescue! Date: 09/12/07 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 The one thing i always admire about Dean is that he will get up and continue on even if he's straining his body to the limit. But at the same time, it's exasperating for me. He can't just let his body recuperate until he finished hunting whatever it is that he's hunting at the moment. Sigh. Hopefully he'll get some rest in the next chapter. Author's Response: Y'know, to me, that's what makes Dean such a hero. A *fictional* hero, sure, but still... one that I want to watch and read about over and over. A John McClain kind of hero. One that repeatedly defies the odds because they have to do the job, whatever they percieve the job to be. To allow him to rest before the job was done in his mind (to me anyway) would be contrary to his character and... kinda not as exciting to read. But, I hear you, I do. We love this guy, and want him to be okay at the end of the day. Even if "okay" isn't 100% healed body and soul... :) I hope you enjoy the next part. Gaelic

Date: 10/12/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Ok, i admire your imagination. This twist is a very original one and it is entirely plausible that a deal like this could had been struck. Maybe the demon didn't think too far enough to think of this. Having said that, i thank God that the deal that he made doesn't turn out this way. I would rather see him having one year to live than the rest of his life working to make Sammy hate him, and that is saying something since i don't really want to see him die in any way. it would be the absolute worst deal he could ever made. Hell is preferable than this. Author's Response: I agree, I'm grateful he never made a deal like this either! These boys need each other! However, like you said, Dean would have if that was what the demon required of him, and that's the kicker here. Our poor messed up boys... Summary:

It's nice to imagine Dean and Sam having a normal Xmas for a change. Although the reason it being Dean's last xmas is just so wrong in so many levels. :( Summary: When Sammy decides to make Stanford college his next move, Dean fought it, in his own way, longer and harder than his father. But he is about to learn that, in some wars, surrender is the only honorable way out. Besides, who else would Dean Winchester fall on his own sword for?

Date: 25/12/07 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3- Debriefing Well, i have no problem with your formatting...it's fine...not all over the place... “Yeah… Dad did, I was… indisposed (rolling on the ground screaming).” I also like the way you actually write some of the words in brackets to express the real meaning of what they were actually saying...kinda see beneath the surface what actually happened. Can't wait for the next chapter... Author's Response: Your sweet - thank you, but I had a few medium sized gremlins going there, with the formatting, that it did not seem to spoil your read makes me feel better about it. Glad the beneath the surface stuff worked for you. I often find one of the most amazing things about the work of the SN writers is what they leave unsaid, how it speaks volumes about their characters and gives them such depth. For me (when I take a small break from ogling the prettiness that is Jared and Jensen) the actors give such a great performance that they make it real easy to pick up this non-verbal, beneath the surface stuff. Date: 12/01/08 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 War Games I always thought that Dean could kick Sam's ass any day, although he's not entirely 100% fit right now so i'm not sure who'll win the fight.... But will Dean actually stepped up to hit his brother? I mean, in the series, the only time he ever hit Sammy purposefully is in season 2 after their father died...so i think he might be unwilling to? But hey, it's your story, and i can't wait to see which way you'll go! :) Author's Response: Glad your enjoying this. Yeah I don't see Dean as a violent type by nature, more by necessity... sticking up for Sammy, hunting with John, it kind of becomes instinct for him. But ... on the other hand, "Protect Sam" is the prime directive right... so.... am I being vague enough here?!!! Author's Response: Winchester luck indeed - it never ceases to amaze me how much it sucks, but I do think that just makes the boys more likable because of how well they bear it ... if that's possible?! Date: 22/02/08 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - Avoiding a Court-martial *wipes tear from eyes* i'm not sure what response are you trying to get with your readers, but this chapter has me being misty-eyed...the way Dean actually went to the Dean (hahahahaha...sorry, that line just has me giggling) in order to keep Sam there, and then keep the whole thing a secret, it's just so him..and heartbreaking to boot.... i wonder if Sam ever found out...hmm.. What response am I trying to get? Well yours was a wonderful example, but to gain any reaction to something you have written is pretty special. This chapter should - if it has worked out my way, be bittersweet, but beyond that it's open to whatever the reader sees in it (I hope?!) My nerves have to do with getting a convincing enough storyline together, to explain how two brothers who share such a close bond could fall out of touch completely for two years. Oh yeah I had a lot of fun with 'the Dean' and 'our Dean' - unexpected perk, had me giggling!!! I am really glad that you thought Dean going in to argue for Sammy was in character and I am stoked that I got this reaction from you - thanks for sharing that! PS. All the shiny stars greatly appreciated too!!!! PPS. Not sure yet if Sammy finds out what Dean did - he has a suspicion ... (will get back to you in next chapter) Abi.

Date: 06/03/08 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 - Re-enlistment. Perfect perfect ending...how you actually link it back to the pilot eppy. Nothing short of genius!!!!! Bravo!! Did Sam really read a note before he put in the curved blade into his overnight bag??? Have to go and see the pilot again.. You did middle ground beautifully... i didn't want it to degenerate to too brotherly because the way Dean left is too abrupt, and whenever i see the pilot now (after 2 seasons) i have this tiny tiny desire to hit Sam on the back of his head (like Dean did!) when he dismissed his brother's words about not being able to do it alone. and the part where Dean said he hadn't bother him or asked him for a thing for almost 2 years, damnit..... i just has this stabbing feeling in the region of my heart. i guess it's easier to see on hindsight. Thanks for bringing us a wonderful story and hopefully you'll write more soon!!! Author's Response: Wow, thank you for the vote of confidence on the ending, I am happy it worked for you. This is my first multi-chapter and although it was a lot of fun to write I have a greater appreciation for the very talented writers on this site... knowing how to keep up the suspense and interest comes with practice I guess, but finishing it on the right note - nerve wracking!!!!! LOL! Hee Heee!!! Love that you are going to double check for the note in the pilot... no it wasn't there, all me I'm afraid. But so thrilled that my blending with the pilot, made it seem plausible. I KNOW exactly what you mean about needing to smack Sam up-side the head - doesn't he come across as a little bratty there for a second?!!! I have a hard time with that point in the pilot - especially in hindsight, so in my version I try to give Sam a motive, I guess, for treating his brother that way.
