Date: 05/02/09 Title: Chapter 1: Dust In The Wind "We only die when someone really ceases to remember that we existed one day." So true. This was beautiful - the opening, the lyrics used (played the song before I read this), and the ending. Ah, the ending. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have something in my eye. "Grand canyon..." Why did you have to write that? "...dancing freely, celebrating the end of a night and the start of a new day." That bit made me disagree with Sam, if only cos of my own personal experience. No, it never makes sense. No, there is no God if he does this to people like Sam and Dean. But hey, this is fiction. It was very well done. It was excellent. It was moving and heart-rending. Thanks for sharing.

I did ask that very same question as purr wee Dean was waking up strapped to that board, LOL, but I was shouted down and told to stop nit-picking for the whole rest of the episode! The rudeness! Loved it. The mental image I got of Dean about to get his hands down his jeans in the car made me spit out my vodka. Date: 18/02/09 Title: Chapter 1: First Time Dude. I am the unchick-flickiest reader in the world. But I liked it. I think it was the innocence, or maybe the Euan MacGregor line in there somewhere (or was it Nicole Kidman?) but I liked it. I almost put 9 (4.5) stars on it, but that would have been rude. Why penalise something so well written, just cos it's not my bag? So it's getting 10. Cos it was well written, and it was a solid piece of description, atmosphere and scene-setting. You've painted several pictures with these words.
Author's Response: Very nice job with finding the line. I watched the movie recently and it just stuck with me. If you guess which song it's from in the movie, you get a cookie :) Thank you very much for the compliments. Sorry it wasn't quite your style. Date: 07/05/09 Title: Chapter 1: Shadows of Night This is amazingly well written - and to be honest, I felt like this during the opening episodes of s4 too! All we got was some brief, shaky moments when Sam wakes him up - REALLY? I've had near-death experiences that had me on edge and unable to sleep for fear of nightmares for WEEKS. He was in Hell for all those years - and simply admitting he enjoyed what he did was the most we 'saw'? Anyway, my beef over - this is ace stuff. Loved it. A good smooth style and got right to the heart(s) of the matter. It's what we would have got on the show if they didn't have to be careful about content ratings or upsetting the casual viewer who didn't know the whole story. Excellent. Author's Response: It pains me that the writers didn't just go for broke and write Dean broken as he should be. The way he's coped this season with his time in hell, you'd think it was little more than Camp Hell for the summer. But I'm spoiled... I fell in love with Farscape, that DID write twisted, damaged characters, and now I expect that caliber from every show I watch thereafter. Sadly but predictably, they all fall short. Summary: Canon. Wee-chester. Sam faces a first time crisis in school and Dean takes measures to rectifiy the situation.
