Date: 24/01/09 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Excellent theory and one I'd love to see. I agree with others - I can't stand Ruby and I think she's become less ambiguous this last episode. It would be interesting were Ruby the ultimate big bad...but can the actress pull it off? Thanks for a story to make me think about a possible ending to this all. Summary:
This story is part of a group of prompt stories dedicated to the wonderful, talented, generous Muffy Morrigan. We wanted to do something special to show how much her friendship means to us and how much we treasure her remarkable writing talent. Date: 14/02/09 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 My last review for you was just one word and, as you know , it's because the words I read were so beautifully written. This story has a completely different feel. One of the things I love best about your stories is that your "voice" changes with the story. In this story your voice is short, sharp and to the point. It compliments the story so perfectly and makes the reader feel the pain and the anguish that the characters are feeling. There was pain in "Vampyre Kiss" but there was beauty in that pain - as there should be with a vampire tale -"Darkness" isn't supposed to have that same beauty. We are meant to be in the darkness that the brothers are in and we are meant to find our own way out of the darkness, just as they are. An amazingly written tale! Date: 18/04/09 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - Reflections on a Long Ago Time I enjoyed every minute of this story. Always a wonder how Sam got through his childhood clueless to the people that populated his life. I liked this moment for him to have a glimpse into his brother's childhood. I'm looking forward to the next story. Author's Response: Thanks! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on the Winchesters and my stories. I find it fascinating how different characters perceive events differently. With the age difference, Sam was shielded from a lot of what went on. Dean was forced to be an adult with John and Sammy was the only one allowed to be a child. I love protective Dean and he was an awesome big brother, but I also love seeing Sam realize all the sacrifices and then want to step up and take care of Dean too. Date: 01/03/09 Title: Chapter 1: Shrapnel Wonderful come back and I accept your peace offering. I would love to know more but a part of me feels it's too much. There is no way to handwave this one or give the television fix - Sam is going to have that scar for the rest of his life and I don't know if I can stomach it. Your descriptions were exquisitely, painfully accurate. I love the juxtaposition between sound/no sound, movie/no movie - it made it all feel so real because when the unthinkable happens time ceases to exist and our thougts are not our own and our senses are out of control. Brilliant. Looking forward to rereading all your stuff that you are updating so I can remember your stories. I had you listed as one of my favorite authors for a reason - now I am reminded why. Author's Response: I totally agree - Sam's going to have that scar forever. That's why I decided to list it as AU too. I might be willing to brave one more chapter, though, just to see what happens. Date: 28/04/09 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Bobby to the rescue! Yea! I knew he'd save the day. And danged if I don't hate Ruby even more. Well written, great pacing. And to tell this from the point of view of someone who can't do or say anything, well done. Its a style that some TV shows have tried lately to varying success but you do it very well in this story. The temptation to take this from Dean and put it in Sam's POV must be overwhelming. I could go on and gush but I think I've made my point. Thanks for a great read, I'm looking forward to the rest. Author's Response: I have to admit that the temptation to shift pov *is* overwhelming. And I very nearly did, after the first two or three chapters. Simply for the reason that sticking with one perspective, and being unable to write any gestures, expressions or movements to underline what is being said or thought is a lot harder than I thought it would be. But I decided ot stick with it, and in the end I'm glad with how it came out, no matter the temptation. I'm thrilled beyond words that you like it so much, and that it seemingly came across the way I wanted it to. I could hear Bobby, every word in this, as if he were whispering in my ear. It was amazing. The pacing was perfect, the choice of words perfect. I really can't find the words to express how perfectly written this little piece is...thank you so much for a wonderful, surprising, enjoyable experience. Somehow, that actually sounds kinda scary...
