Enjoyed Gale Warnings so much I decided to check that I had read all of your other work, and of course realised there must be a previous story with Concha and Dante, and ..... dammit! How did I miss this? Anyway, I'm onto it now, and I already love it. Shining first aid? LOL. And this line is great:

But Dean didn’t forget.  Not one of Sam’s visions did he ever forget.

Gorgeous! Reading straight on....

Author's Response: Thanks so much!

I really like it that Bobby's involved. It's interesting that Dean trusts the rendezvous Bobby's set up because he would kill him if the other hunters couldn't be trusted around Sam  - and Bobby knows it. Throws some new light on their relationship.

Author's Response: I'm glad you decided to give it a read.  Thanks for the comments, and I hope you enjoy the rest.

Loved the conversation between Sam and Dean about the merits of whining and sulking! And although I don't usually like extra characters, I like both Concha and Dante. Quite a feat on your part!

Author's Response:

Thanks.  Even though I used them I tried to keep the focus on Dean and Sam, it's their story really.

Another great chapter, I'm having so much fun reading this. Loved this part:

“No, sometime, somewhere I want to see someone bend a spoon.”  He waved at Sam, “he can’t, I keep asking.”

LOL. Truly!

Author's Response: Hehehehehe...one of my favorite parts too. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

Lovely, and I agree completely - Dean is more Sam's parent than his brother a lot of the time. And he is awesome at both jobs!

Author's Response:

He is...and that's something I just love about them both.

Thanks again!

Hi Bayre, since it seems like I'm reading, then reviewing, then you're reading my reviews! Another terrific chapter, you've ramped the suspense up nicely - Sam getting locked in a trunk, after all Dean's teasing about it, was a master stroke. Am I reading straight on? You bet!

Author's Response:

Hehehehehe...you're too kind!  Thanks again!

Love Deans' thoughts about Sam, and Sam's thoughts about Dean for that matter. This is great:

Sam, the annoying little twit, would just stand there looking at him with his damn infernal ‘you’re my big brother and nothing will hurt me with you around’ look he was just so good at.

It's a lovely way to demonstrate the brothers' relationship without explicitly stating it - you can do it from inside Dean's head! Only one more chapter?  This story has gone so fast!

Author's Response:

Thank you so very much...again!  LOL

Dean Winchester is the best big brother anyone ever had, and I love it that your story demonstrated that so beautifully. And even though the characters of Dante and Concha were well-developed characters in their own right, this was really about the Winchesters and you never lost sight of that. So glad I made it back to this story, you should be proud of your work. And I almost feel like we were chatting because of the fast reaction to reading and reviewing -and that was fun too! Thank you so much,

Ciel

Author's Response:

Thank you Ciel!  I'm glad you decided to read, and darn you read fast!  LOL

I'm glad you liked it, and I think Dean is the best big brother ever too!

Beautifully done again! I'm new to reviewing, but I'm not new to reading, and you have expressed Sam's mixed up guilt-relief perfectly. In the episode he said "I didn't know" - and you have filled in the emotions behind that lucky fact expertly. Great!

Author's Response: Thank you! Guilt-relief, yes! That's exactly what it was! I'm so happy you liked it. :)

I really enjoy your writing, but I think this one is my favourite so far. I would have loved to see this conversation acted out on screen, but this is a fabulous substitute. That's why I'm so grateful to writers like you, who supply the missing scenes I've imagined, and describe them so beautifully and dramatically!

Author's Response: I love missing scenes too! They're so awesome to read and write. =D Thank you so much commenting! I'm glad you liked it.

Good Lord, I'm weeping buckets. I have always thought it was a good idea for Sam to leave John, but a terrible idea for him to leave Dean - I guess one day we'll find out if they had any contact after Sam left. (although it doesn't seem so in the show) In the meantime, this was beautifully written, and truly stirred my emotions. Thanks!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

That was great, exploring some of the dialogue from the show and putting in some of your own. I love your thoughts on the true meaning behind some of those words, and the flashbacks were lovely. Well done!

Author's Response:

One of the things I love about the Winchesters is that even though we know how much they all love each other, what they say is not always what they mean.

They have such a complexity and especially in the beginning seemed to not always know what was the truth, if their perceptions were real.  Thanks for reviewing, B.J.

Wow. A beautiful job exploring Dean's anguish - and the sheer exhaustion of it. I'm almost too paralysed to read on...... except  I want more! So heading straight into chapter 2. Hope I'm strong enough......

Author's Response:

Thanks! Yeah, Dean has suffered so much in his lifetime and then this last season just piled the pain on him.

I wonder how he finds the strength to continue on, but he always keeps going because of Sammy and his drive to protect him.

Reviewer: ciel4 Signed

Glad I mustered the strength for this! Another awesome chapter. Lots of very perceptive lines, I love this one:

What wounds his heart the most is the knowledge you wouldn't change your plans to ease his pain, no..., you wouldn't stay for your own living brother, but now you'll totally reverse course to please your dead dad.

And you have really nailed Dean's abandonment issues (completely justified in my opinion!) and Sam's realisation about the real value of the nickname Sammy. Beautiful parallels at the end of both chapters too.

Am I reading straight on? You bet!

Author's Response:

Thanks again, your reviews are absolutely lovely.

I loved how Dean looked at Sam when he asked if he meant what he said to Cooper about not wanting to go to school and live regular. So telling what Jensen can put in one look.

Dean certainly does have plenty of cause to feel abandoned. I also loved how pleased Dean looked when Sam told Gordon that Dean was the only one who could call him Sammy.

Jensen always puts so much into his acting, it is a total pleasure to observe that and then try to fit a story around it.

Great work again. Loved the description of John and Mary's courtship, and the fortune cookies were a masterpiece. So glad there's one more chapter!

Author's Response:

Thanks again! I love seeing John and Mary happy, so rare and a treat to write.

I know nothing about Chinese food, but I knew I needed to get the fortune cookies into the story as a kind of prophecy of what was coming.

Reviewer: ciel4 Signed
Date: 31/05/07 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Bobby

Loved hearing Bobby's thoughts on this, the cruellest of all the fates assigned to the Winchesters, in my opinion. Not Mary's death, or John's, not even the demon's plans for Sam - but the total loss of the soul of Dean Winchester. Not consigned to hell because of a deal with a demon, but lost because he cannot see the immeasurable value of himself. SOMEONE IN HIS FAMILY SHOULD HAVE CONVINCED HIM OF HIS OWN WORTH LONG AGO!! But I like to think the tide is turning with Sam, and this chapter illustrates that so well. And I love the idea of Uncle Bobby, by the way. Thank you so much.

Author's Response:

Yes, I love Uncle Bobby! He is so close to Dean and you could see how much he loves him, like his own son.  Dean not only dying, but surrendering his soul and not feeling his life mattered is the great tragedy of the Winchesters. No doubt about that.

Bobby's anguish over the deal was heartbreaking, but he was also devastated by Dean's lack of self-worth.

I do think the tide is turning and Sam is realizing just how much help his brother needs and he will be there for him, just like Dean has always been there for Sammy.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful, insightful reviews. I love hearing what parts of my stories resonate with the reader.  Makes all the long hours of writing so worth it.

Take care, B.J.
