Date: 07/09/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Okay, tears in my eyes now - for real! Stunning - even more so than usual! terrifying as sam starts to give in, as dean hangs there - the image of the hands reaching through the floor is proper horror-movie haunting! - and so beautiful when you get to the contract, never suspecting until that point that it isn't the contract he made for sam's life but one so much more precious! sorry for babbling, seem to have forgotten how to string sentences together tonight! But WOW! Fantastic story! Author's Response: Oh thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked this one. I just couldn't get it out of my head once it started bugging me. I knew Sam had a wild card to save his brother, I just wasn't sure of what it was and a lot of ideas floated arounds before he let me know! When I sat down to write I thiought I'd just do the little prologue from Bobby's POV, but the whole story just flowed out of me! On a funny Muffy-ish side note--the young man who works for us read this, the first of my writing he'd ever looked at and now he looks at me a little odd. Date: 29/05/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - Not a day in my mind Have to say - that is almost scarily good. Your writing is beautiful, darkly elegant, punchy, and I wish I could work out which bits I wanted to put in here, but there's so many! "Suffocating on life, exhaling death," awesome line, it has a kind of terrifying resignation, that sense that every breath he takes is one less left to come. "The black clouds sitting in the sky are my only company" - shivery, lonely, reading this, you get the inescapable image of Dean standing in the middle of a crowd, totally alone. "I bang my head against the wall until there's nothing left but fragments of what was. A chalk outline of my existence, but nothing inside of me left to be identified." And that right there, is probably my favourite line - though I'm sure it'll be replaced the second I read the next chapter. It's a stunning image, painfully empty and cold, as if he's broken inside a shell that seems perfect from the outside, and I'm all but screaming at Sam to see how bad Dean's hurting! Bring us more of your magic soon darling, I'm craving it already! Author's Response: Scary good? Beautiful, darkly elegant and punchY? Date: 09/06/08 Title: Chapter 1: Day 1 Feeling hopeful, but I just know there's lots of pain and angst over the horizon... love the simplicity of this style, the short chapters really give the tale pace when it would be all too easy to wallow in the moment. And favourite line? Easy: 'Sam felt something in him twist at the broken and haunted look in his brother's eyes.' Beautiful. Just beautiful. Author's Response: I have a feeling you're right. And I'm glad you really enjoy it. Typically I try to have longer chapters in my multi-chaptered stories, but this one is an exception, and I'm glad it's working out to your liking. Date: 09/06/08 Title: Chapter 4: Day 19 Haven't reviewed the last couple of chapters, been having far too much fun reading 'em! the format of this story is fantastic - the 'sneak peek' effect of the journal entries, followed by the actual events as they happened is a great way to give us a real insight into Sam's mind during those events, and as a result, it feels as if we're seeing it from inside his head. the style of your writing is wonderfully powerful, really vivid, and i love watching Dean slowly come back to himself, that gradual emergence of the character we all know and love. Date: 01/06/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Jane, I've been waiting for this, and you sure as hell didn't disappoint! I love the way you just let the story tell itself, giving us hints of the angst to come without using a sledgehammer - it actually makes for a wonderfully tense read, as I'm left waiting for the other shoe to drop... And I can't wait! (Especially to see if the lovely motel room gets a Winchester make-over, think my views on pink and lace are about the same as Dean's!)

Date: 03/06/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 OMG, now you've got me scared! And you didn't even need a horrible thing from the darkside to do it! Tht chapter was amazing, beautifully written, the contrast between the quiet washroom and the nightmares, and that slow, silent killer creeping up on him. The image of the tears falling as he dreams, that was the moment that really took this chapter beyond great and into incredible, and it just keeps getting better from there - and your cliffie is worse than Kripke's! Author's Response: Hey Cal, Wow, thank you for the awesome review, (blushes). I wasn't sure if the non-supernatural baddie would go down too well but it seemed to fit with the mundane task of doing the laundry! I thought a little bit of normal (well for the Winchesters anyway) wouldn't go amiss.. Carbon monoxide actually terrifies me too, talk about the ultimate stealth killer. I promised, but I'm not sure where to start, so much I love about this lyrical little torment, and it just keeps getting better every time i read it! Really love the demon's voices - full of character and really dark, cruel humour. makes me shiver just think' about 'em. loved 'his demons.' the idea that it isn't the denizens of hell tormenting him as much as it is his own, inner demons brought to life - beautiful! only one way to hell and it is plastered with good intentions and promises not kept - WOW - stunning imagery, LOVE IT! (again) And that little backwards section - feels as if he's fighting so hard but losing, and all he can do is scream his battlecry - of course it is. what else could it possibly be? - "Sam!" Amazing writing Ilka, poetic, beautiful, horrible in all the right places (it's a good thing, trust me, horrible is GOOD) and only a little pervy... sorry it took so long! Author's Response: Well.
