It made me laugh out loud 'cause I could feel John's discomfort, see him pacing in pain! waiting Sam's substitute dad-Dean to arrive. Clever role reversal dialogue going on! In my minds eye Sam looks so silly that it's sweet and I can see Dean's loving and indulgent smile.

Date: 06/12/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 This is intriguing! It surprises me that Dean allowed Abbi to hunt with them so I'm keen to know what tipped the balance in her favour. I like the suggested frisson between them - or did I just imagine/invent that? I liked your description of Dean's voice - soft and melodic. yeah isn't it!! Gonna read more now. Bird x Author's Response: I figure what tipped the balance in her favor, for me, was the fact that Dean is on his final year and doesn't want to waste precious time dealing with the police. So, he conceded rather than fight it out. I think there would be frisson between him and any woman within a 10 mile radius but I could be biased. Gads, I love that man's voice....but, we'll leave that alone.

Date: 06/12/07 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 I love it when Dean sings, it's like giving him the gift of a moments peace in his violent and troubled world. You described the tension re 'the CRD deal' really well and Sam's sadness was haunting. Well done.
Bird x Author's Response: Thank you. I wish they'd let Jensen sing in the show, he has a beautiful voice. That's why I like to write him singing into stories. I wrote this long before season 3 started so I was guessing on how the guys were going to respond to the deal. I appreciate you saying that I did well. I wouldn't have made Dean quite as extreme as they made him at the beginning of season 3 but it makes perfect sense that he'd try to have as much fun as possible. Thank you again.

Date: 06/12/07 Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5 I found the concept that Dean doesn't understand failure interesting, considering his 'deal' situation! Do you plan to explore that more? I thought the discussion Abbi and Dean had on their own was well written, I could read the subtle change in Deans character when he didn't need to keep his 'game face' on. And I loved the line 'Watching the brothers work was almost erotic' Well of course it was! Really nice stuff, can we have more please? Bird x
Author's Response: Considering everything is from Abbey's point of view probably won't be explored because it's not something I think Dean would every discuss it. My favorite scenes in the shows are when the guys are doing a B&E - is that wrong? Talk 'bout erotic. I'll get more out as soon as possible. Summary:

Both our boys qualify. hehehe They have the type of voices where, if I were to be on the phone with them, I could just sit and listen to them talk for hours. (I knew a guy like this once. I treasured his phone calls for just this reason!) In person, of course, would be even better. I can't sing much either, but I'd ride shotgun with 'em and sing too. hehe (Though they'd not appreciate it. LOL) I'm so glad you enjoyed this little Christmas treat. :-) Summary: Mystearia had done all she could to get Sam. But in the end it seemed that Sam and Dean had won the day. I wrote this well before I'd ever tried a one-shot or had been invited to write for the VS, so I really didn't know how well I could tell a whole story in a limited amount of pages. I loved the boys wrestling in front of the fire and the snowball fight and when John kissed them goodnight well I blubbed my eyes out. If all the s**t hadn't happened in his life to damage him so! Loved the line 'It had been a while since I remembered Dean being speechless about anything' and I cringed for Dean when John was contemplating Sam ending up taller than his big bro! Gordon was scary, real damaged goods that man and dangerous with it. Loved it very much! Can I ask two questions tho? What the heck are Rocky Mountain Oysters then? 'Cause I'm with Sam on that! and who puts gravy on biscuits? That's just wrong!! Liked verse 5 about the plane especially so funny as was scaredy cat Dean in the episode. Gosh I sooo wanted to go hold his hand and hum with him! And the verse 10 - about Mary. Well my eyes prickled with tears there! You caught Dean's pain at his Dad ignoring his plea for help and his joy at Sam seeing Mary so well. So just when I thought I'd got through without crying you got me with the 'Dean probably has the most devils' and 'I'm proud of you' lines at the end. Loved in going for Chapter two now! Tres Bon!
