Hi, Jo, Cyclones are the southern hemisphere's name for hurricanes. Yasi made it to a Category 5, similar in size to Katrina, before she slammed into Far North Queensland at Mission Beach. She made it over 600kms inland before she finally fizzled out into a rain depression. The inland mining town of Mt Isa was put on cyclone alert for the first time in its history. Scary stuff - miles away from Brisbane, but still....the initial estimates for her when she first formed was that she was supposed to head south before turning west, which would have put her much closer to Brisbane, but she stayed on her south-west track with very little deviation. Thanks so much, both for the prayers and for reading. It was an interesting exercise, mentally challenging as well, to get inside each of their heads, but it made sense to tell it from three points of view, especially when it came to poor scrambled Sam. Having him basically voice feelings, or non-feelings, then have his reactions told from Dean's pov, and Dean's from Bobby's, just worked out really well. But you're right, I had to stop sounding like me and work to sound like the boys and Bobby. Glad I pulled that off. I'm with you - I've missed big brother Dean, and I'm really glad to have him back. Not to de-age or belittle Sam in any way, because I don't want Sam to lose any ground or maturity he'd gained by the end of season five, but Dean is such a natural protector/parent, it was good to have him fall back into that role again. hugs, Jules Summary:

Date: 19/02/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Just wonderful. Written beautifully as usual. I really liked the interaction between Sam and Bobby. It was needed. And Dean in your stories is always Dean as he really is. I was left thinking after the close of the episode and your story joined my thinking. I have read all the challenge stories too...really appreciated having you all there to nurture my imagination, and my own very tentative stories on "paper". What a great group!!! and all the banners are absolutely amazing. Blessing and Cheers, Jo
Author's Response: Hello, Jo, Sorry this is so late - I sort of bounced all over the place with my review replies on this one. No excuse - just disorganised. Yes, I'm hanging out for a talk between Sam and Bobby, and an understanding to be reformed. It's hard for Bobby, but I'm hoping that he won't keep his distance for too long from his youngest 'son'. Really thrilled you liked the portrayal of Dean - it felt like old times, watching him interact with his newly restored brother. I was so glad to see the old Dean return. Oh, I'm stoked that you read the other challenge stories! We had fun taking over the front page, I must say - lol. I'm really happy that we gave you lots of good stuff to get your teeth into, especially since you've probably been a bit snowbound lately, eh? And thank you - it is a great group, and very supportive in times of need as well. Very special ladies. Your own tentative stories? I'm intrigued. So much so that I'm about to email you to find out more....*nods*... bless you heaps, Jules Summary:
Never bet against a sure thing... Set in Season 3 - immediately after the episode Ghostfacers

Date: 25/02/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Great story to kick off my holiday. I am always in favour of the fond brotherly banter and fun combined with a Supernatural story! And you write both so very well. Love the banner and the delightful Scully-like clue there. I like the episode you chose to gently tag. Dean's fear for Sam was palpable. Makes great sense to explore that. Take care, and taking my iPad with me so I can look forward to the next chapter! Many cheers, Jo
Author's Response: Hi, Jo, I hope the holiday is going swimmingly for you. How long are you away for? Ah, yes, Scully-like clue indeed. You guessed it. Thanks so much for that. I thought the eppy, even though I didn't much care for it because I'm a 'Facer-hater', gave us some very good insights into the brothers, and it was a nice slightly angsty point to kick off from for the purpose of this hunt. Next chapter will be up very shortly, my dear friend. Hope you enjoy it, and are relaxing as much as you can. Bless you, Jules

Date: 11/03/11 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 It took me a bit to figure out how to work the "review" thingy from my iPad. Loving this story Jules! I am on holiday in LA and on Sunday will be off to the Paley festival, looking forward to hearing from the writers about the direction of our beloved show. I believe for certain they pay attention to the the fans, and I am so glad there are folks like you who write so well and inspire all of us including the writers and directors of the show...just as much as they inspire us! Hi, Jo, Well, you're doing better than me - I can't even figure out how to turn the ringtone volume down on my new mobile phone....nothing like hearing Back In Black blaring out full blast in the office..... Ooh, am looking forward to your report on the Paley festival - I believe both boys were just adorable in their interviews. Aww, thank you! I really appreciate that. A lot of hard work goes into a story, so it's wonderful to get feedback like this. Ah, the bathroom scene. I have another one up my sleeve, so to speak. And there is another clue in the next chapter about the ghost. Take care, and hope you're having a ball on your holiday. Jules

*gasps in shock* Hullo, Jo! *huge cyber-hugs* I've missed you!!!!! Thought you might have been still a mushy heap after your - was it a Con you went to? Will have to go back through my emails to refresh my memory. No - Paley Festival, wasn't it? Well, that foot must have all healed up by now - hope you've been keeping well. We're settling into the new routine - Chris has been living with me now for two weeks. We've still got some boxes to unpack and find homes for stuff, but we're doing all right...well, we would be if we could get this iffy internet connection sorted out. So glad you popped in - you made my Sunday! And glad you enjoyed this one, too. I had fun seeing how many times I could get Sam Daphne'd - ROFL! hugs JulesSummary:

Hi, Jo, Aww.....thank you so much. All is getting better. Chris has moved in, the renovations start in a couple of weeks, and things are slowly getting back to normal. I'm glad I could give you a little break in your busy routine. And with schmoop, no less - lol. I do love some Winchester fluff. So glad you could see the images so clearly. Take care, and we'll talk soon, Hugs & blessings, Jules Summary:

Date: 21/11/11 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I am so very busy these last few months. So this is far too late in the saying, in my opinion, but it needs to be said! So glad to have your wonderful words and insight and imagination back on the site!! I have missed you so much. I read stories early in the morning with my coffee and am delighted to have Friday morning made to such fullness with a Mizpah Supernatural story. My imagination is delighted. And Dean and Sam come to life! Take care.... Jo Author's Response: Bless you, Jo, it's never too late. And I know just what you mean - I've practically become a hermit these last few months. I've missed you all too, but real life has scared off my muse. I've been praying though, for the return of inspiration, so let's hope God's hearing me. I'm truly delighted that you enjoyed this little slice of Dean angst over your morning coffee. I just had to pick his thoughts apart and find out what was going on, because his killing of Amy really set me back on my heels a bit. It was only after I had a chat with a few other SN sisters that I got over my shock and began to see why Dean did it. But at first, I couldn't get past the blatant lying and the seemingly hypocritical attitude he had. I know better now. *pats Dean consolingly* He's one very messed up boy. Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 02/01/12 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Loved this story! Thank you so much for your gift of giving us tenderness and still keeping Sam and Dean real. Especially Dean, his depth of love and toughness is complex and difficult to put into words. You let him tell that story himself and I thank you. And Sam's gentleness, fears, stubbornness, and strength shine through. I shall remember Mary's Bright Star always. Jo Author's Response: And here you are again, as promised. I thank you. That really means a lot to me. I work hard getting their 'voices' right in my head - hope that doesn't sound too crackers, but I think you know what I mean. It's a joy and a relief to know that you feel I've hit the mark. Dean is very hard to pin down these days, isn't he? There's an awful lot going on in that pretty head, and some of it's not good. Dean's always been his own worst enemy, as has Sam, and he was right in his statement to Sam about taking the blame for everything going on in the world. He needs to stop carrying burdens that aren't his to bear. I'm chuffed that I got Sam's strengths to show through. He's been very much misunderstood over the past few seasons, I feel. And somewhat abused by the writers at times - not us, I mean the show's writers. Poor Sam gets put back together only to be broken apart again, it seems. But he is a gentle soul beneath that hunter exterior, and despite an unhealthily hefty dose of self-loathing (remember his own mind called him a pathetic milk-sop), he does have such wonderful inner strength. Thank you, my friend. I hope that 2012 brings you joy and peace. Bless you, Jules Summary:

Date: 21/06/12 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 That was soooo much fun. Winchesters in Space - that was my favourite part. :) I have missed you so much and looked for your words on this site regularly. There is such great narrative skill, goodness and warmth and fun, great drama, mystery and catchiness to your stories. So glad to have you back in all the vagaries of life. My prayers are with you and your family. Take care! Jo Author's Response: Thanks so much for that, Jo. I've missed my writing, but it's just been too hard lately to settle my mind enough for the words to flow. But the renovations are finally finished - the builder did the last few things yesterday, including the new support posts for my listing fence, so now it's up to auntie and me to get the last of the unpacking done for Chris' side, and the gardens finished off out the front and side, and tidied up around the back. Once it's all done, my muse might come back to me. In the meantime, I'm thrilled you enjoyed the little walk through Dean's freaky, feverish mind. And your words mean so much, especially as I haven't been around of late, and my pile of stories for this year is pretty slender. hugs and blessings, Jules Summary:

I have been very busy of late so have not been able to check for your stories as often as I would like. But I am currently on holiday and thought I would just take a chance and there you were!! This is so good. Sweet and full of angst and mystery. I love how you write Dean and Sam. True to themselves on the show but more complete because we can have the story behind their words and their shared looks. Oh and to answer one of your questions, I am loving season 8. I go to Southern California every winter for a few weeks and have taken a side trip to be at Vegas to go to the Convention. My enthusiasm for the show, and the stories arising has not faded. ~ Jo Author's Response: JO!!!!! OH MY GOSH!!! It's been so long - how have you been??? Oh, so thrilled you're going to the Vegas Con. You'll have such a great time, hun. I know what you mean about being busy. Real life has not been kind to me of late either, and I've not written nearly as much as I'd like. The muse went into hiding for a long time, but she's venturing out again, so let's hope she stays with me for a while. So glad you're enjoying this. And season eight. I wanted to belt Dean over the back of the head during the first few episodes, but I'm loving the brother interaction now. And Dean's back in my good books - LOL. Did you see his little prayer at the end of the Titan episode? Oh, I almost burst into tears! Well, I'm off to post chapter six and see if Dean can find his missing and very injured brother! Enjoy your holiday, hun, and bless you heaps! Jules |
