I am not a big reviewer - more of a silent appreciative reader - but I love the "works of Mizpah" and I feel it is time I said it very loudly.     Look after yourself! I read the stories over and over. God watches between us all when we cannot be together. Though Sam and Dean would never say it they would understand the connection. Thank you for connecting so well with your words. Take care of yourself.  And all my prayers...       Cheers and Blessings,                                              Jo

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Jo. That's wonderful feedback. And on a personal note - thank you especially for knowing what the meaning of Mizpah is. My great-grandfather had the prayer inscribed on a brooch which he gave my great-grandmother when they were courting. I inherited that brooch - it's almost 120 years old. He also named his 18 Foot Skiff Mizpah - which is where I take my penname from.

And thank you for all your prayers - it's been a tough few weeks, and every little bit of support helps more than you can know.

I did have a very blessed Christmas, thank you - hope you did too.

This one was a long time coming actually - the story, not Christmas - lol. Sadly, I'm working full time now, so writing time has been cut down. Not happy, but the mortgage has to be paid. So I didn't have too many chances to work on this. But it's completed now, finally, so I thank you for coming along for the ride and I hope you enjoy the rest of the tale.

Hi, Jo,

Yes, I had a very hard time with that scene. I couldn't quite believe that Dean had done it, actually, and the possible motivations behind it really bugged me. I'm relieved you felt the same way, and that this went a little way towards making you feel better about it.

Your writing is pitch perfect.  Miss you! While I wait for a new story I reread all your older ones. And I so appreciate your gift. Wonderful.  Hope you are well. Please take care and I will keep looking for you.  All cheers and blessings,      Jo

Author's Response:

Aww, thanks, Jo.

Real life isn't playing nice at the moment. The job has become way too demanding, and it has seriously cut into my writing time by leaving me tired and drained by the time I come home. The stories are all up there in my head, but I can't seem to get them down on paper.

However, there is a new one just posted, so I hope that you like it. It's called Finding Home, and I just put it up about ten minutes ago.

Well - thank you so much for that. I'm truly honoured that you think that way. There's a lot of work that goes into the story, making sure I have the boys right, etc, and then passing it to my beta who gives it a final look over before I post, so it's very gratifying to know that we're hitting the mark.

Take care, and I'll see you on the new one.

Oh Thanks!!! Really good to find you here when I returned home after a long day at work.  I loved this story, the time changes and place changes moved effortlessly through Sam's experience of home. From realisation, through need, acceptance and gratitude. This is a great story of Sam for the reader and therefore also of Dean.     Hope your days ahead go well. Will be so pleased to celebrate though reading your number 49 and then happily lighting candles for number 50!  Take care.   Cheers and Blessing and Hugs too!      Jo

Hey, Jo! Told you - LOL.

It was so funny - I'd just finished posting this last night when I got the email notification that you'd reviewed A Hundred Possibilities, so I replied to you straight away.

So stoked that you loved this. And yes, Sam has always had that sense of Dean as home, he just didn't realise it sometimes. But something always pulls him back, no matter how far he goes.

Ah, story 49...well....hmm...it's not written yet. But it will be, I promise. Story 50's halfway there. And it will be something different. Well, I hope so, anyway - lol

It is about time I tell you that I truly loved this story! Thanks so much for all the heart and truth you pour into your well written words. Miss you, as I confess to eagerly awaiting a new story, and hope you are well.       Jo

Author's Response:

LOL - by now you've got your little thank-you present. And I see you liked it, too. I'm so glad.

Thank you, Jo. You've done this a couple of times for me now - given me a review and my muse a kick start to get working again.

I'm chuffed that you enjoyed this one. Sarah (my beta) and I work hard on all my stories to get them right, but this one had a few tricky moments that caused the emails to fly constantly back and forth between Australia and England until we got it all hammered out - especially Sam and Dean's reasons for their actions or inactions once Zachariah snatched Sam. We went through a few different scenarios and lengthy discussions before settling on this course.

So for you to say you loved it, makes all that hard work so worthwhile.

hugs

Author's Response:

Hun, it was the least I could do after the lovely encouraging words you left me on Blood On Blood. I'm really glad you love your little surprise.

Ah, I was wondering if people would think of Dean first - lol. Well, I was sort of hoping I'd catch a few people out, because I don't usually write John. I'm not really a fan of his, and my softening attitude is mainly due to my beta Ziggy, and my good friend and fellow author Cookie6. They're solid John fans and help me smooth out any wrinkles in my thinking.

Thank you so much, Jo. It's wonderful and touching to know how much I've been missed.

I was out working all day yesterday. Today I am up early, ready to work again. But thought while I had my coffee I'd check for new stories. Still not expecting to see yours. And there you were!!! - like Christmas in August.   I love how I can hear Sam and Dean's voices so clearly in your writing. And the thumb-sucking - such a perfect way to begin a story of "turned upside-down" days. I laughed out-loud. Particularly having it be Dean who is afflicted. Even funnier. The humour in the story is balanced with the boy's relationship and the hunting story and I so appreciate that!   Already excited about next week's chapter.     Blessings always...                                   Jo

Author's Response:

Hullo, Jo!

Glad I could give you a little treat for all your hard work. *grins*... Even though it was a day later than planned - stupid internet signal towers....*mutter, grumble*.... The greater the technology, the easier it is for a spanner to be thrown into the works, I reckon.

Ah, if you're hearing the boys' voices, then I've done my job as a storyteller - that makes me a very happy veggie. And yes I sort of felt it was time I stopped beating up Sam and laid into Dean for a change - LOL.

Turned upside-down is a pretty good way to describe what I'm going to put him through, actually - I'm so evil. Hope you enjoy next week's chapter - it made my auntie have a serious case of the giggles, so I think I might be onto something there - lol.

Ah, poor Dean, I did torture him a bit in this one, didn't I? But no permanent damage...apart from his ego, which was pretty much pounded into the dust...*grins wickedly*...

Thank you for this. I needed to hear these words of yours to extend beyond what we are shown in the episodes, and I think this is very much the depth of the story as the writers mean us to find ...and so I am so glad to read of "Bobby" talking about Sam, who Sam is inside and of Sam's need for Dean in his life but mostly in life altogether, and finally of Sam's relationship with Bobby. It is also lovely to know how much my own thoughts are reflected in yours.  A lovely gift in lovely writing.  I am truly a Dean girl, I'd say - but without Sam we are missing so much of Dean.

I am at home, having been in an accident and have broken bones in my foot with other complications, Reading your collection of stories is nicely healng.

Take care of yourself. Cheers always...

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, Jo.

I'm struggling with season six at the moment. Not sure where they're headed, but I don't think the writers are playing fair along the way. Haven't we had enough of the boys being at loggerheads with each other already????

I'm glad you liked this. I very carefully researched all the Bobby episodes and watched his interaction with the brothers, especially Sam, and tried to nut out why the difference was there. Thankfully my massive brain dump made some sort of sense - due in large part to my hardworking beta.

So glad that foot is healing now - it won't be long before you're up and around again, I'm sure. Prayers still going up for you, and I owe you an email reply which I promise I'll get to this weekend.

So very happy this morning to find your story. I loved this episode. Thank for adding to it and deepening the meaning of it so perfectly. You have Dean and Sam so clearly written. And I am grateful to read Dean speaking of the gift of memory Sam received. So true to Dean's spirit of hope and love. Even in all the darkness and despair. And it is that which will heal Sam's soul.

You write beautifully. I hope your Advent and Christmas is a filled with light and joy and inspiration. Take care of yourself.

Hey, Jo!

Haven't forgotten our continuing conversation - I've been without my big computer for just over a week. Had Chris' laptop but all my contacts were on my computer, so even though I had email, it was a bit how's your father....

I enjoyed the episode too, especially for what it gave us. And for what it gave Sam: a chance to see his parents as they were, and to lay to rest some of the issues concerning his father - and the unfinished business between them.

And I think it would have meant a lot to Dean that Sam had finally gotten his own memories of their mother, and not just from Mary as a ghost or an image in a photograph. With Dean holding family, and his mum, in high importance, he would have seen the significance of that straight away. Even though he was worried Sam would put his foot in it when they first arrived - LOL.

I hope you and your family have a truly blessed Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

hugs and blessings

Merry Christmas!!! I finally happily have a day to slow down and absorb your words. Thank you, as always! I have so appreciated how robo-Sam has added to the depth of the show, but it has been very hard for me as my first response to the story comes from Sam and Dean's relationship. How's that foot? I'm guessing by your comments about finally having a day to slow down, that you're back on the run again and the foot's healed up nicely?

Oh, the great disconnect. Man, that pains me. I'm really peeved at the writers for doing that. Just when the brothers finally sorted out their differences and welded themselves back into the team they should have been all along, bang! Sam takes a dive into the worst part of Hell, and then we're back to square one by the time he reunites with his brother.....*unhappy sigh*.....

Is it too much to ask to have the boys fighting side-by-side instead of each other?

Someone get Sera Gamble on the phone...I've got a bone to pick with her!!!

Hope you had a great New Year, hun.

Jules

Just found this story. So sweet and dear and so bittersweet.  And ... I think Sam did know something was wrong. Deeply missing, before he was told by Cas.  A puzzle he couldn't even figure out how to scratch at. Except to remember sometimes. (I like the fact you had him read the books. )

    cheers,

Author's Response:

Glad you enjoyed!  I agree, Sam definitely knew there was something wrong with him all along.  How could he not?  He obviously remembers what he was like before he went to Hell, so knows he's not the same now.

Thanks for reading and for the lovely review!

Wonderful Story!  As Always!  Concussed Sam reveals so much of the inner person and nicely illuminates Dean too.  So glad when I see your words and Chasidern's wonderful banners to start my day. Though in fact I go back and read all your stories many many times over.   I keep you and all of Queeensland in my prayers.      Jo

Author's Response:

Hi, Jo,

Prayers are always appreciated. While Chris and I weren't directly affected by floodwaters, apart from being cut off a couple of times during the week, we still feel the impact of the devastation. And it's going to take a long time to recover from this.

Thank you so much. I'm really stoked that you loved the story. I had such fun with concussed Sam, as well as Dean's cautious reactions and hasty damage control. The humour stories are a nice break from the usual angst and drama.

hugs
