Date: 26/10/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 OMG I had the boys faces so clearly in my head as I read your intensive little one-shot - Dean stoic, one little tear in red rimmed eyes, Sam trying to hold back his sobs. You articulated Dean's private battle beautfully, I was right there. Fantastic. Summary: Sam has a crisis at school and Dean does the only thing a big brother can do. He comes to the rescue.

Date: 16/11/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 'Duck and roll' !! what a classic! "that's ok, the neighbours don't have a cat named Ghost neither" !!Straight outta the mouths of babes, tooo funny! Sam's innocence always a breath hitching moment. I just loved the magical kisses and lots of hugs, Dean's reaction - priceless! Your description of Dean's reaction to the "what moms do" topic was stunning writing, I felt it strongly from your words, so sad. But his definite "I'm sure she does" spoke volumes about how much he remembers and misses. Brilliant! Thanks for the poignant peek, I just loved it! Summary: With the help of his family, young Sam Winchester learns that having a good memory can be both blessing and curse.

Date: 15/11/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I absolutely LOVED this. "Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge" has been a big part of my literacy life for a long time and I know the story well. I actually went and reread it between reading your fic and reviewing. The story is enhanced ten fold by Julie Vivas gorgeous illustrations. I actually met Mem Fox at a conference a few years ago. So to find a Winchester spin on it was awesome, BAU spin no less!! You have made my day!! Your innovation was spectacular *standing ovation* Each of the Brotherhood's spin was perfect for their character. I was so into your side stories: just loved Sam revealing Dean's poker hand, followed by Caleb's immediate "I'm out" - what a crack-up!!! Sammy's recall of Mac's "shoot" translation was special and I just melted at John fiddling with his ring as his memory of Mary kicked in. So sad, but just beautiful as well. Your whole Caleb-Dean thing has me in the palm of your hand. Dean's memory of his mother...*sigh* and his touching his baby brother's cheek with your stunning words "If i could find your memories of her Sammy. If I could, I promise you I would" broke my heart in a million bits. Just fitted this story perfectly with a huge dose of poignant thown in. Brilliant! But the scene stealer was Sam's final momento where Dean is his symbol for 'precious as gold' and then to have the old paster recall his brother was moving. Dean telling Sam that he would want to remember him every day was the best line, simple but said everything. *applause* I've said it before, you are a master story teller and the Queen of everything Winchester in this AU of yours. Mem fox would be proud and I bet she would love it too!!Summary:

I was SOOO excited to see your update that I decided to reread and review as I go. Wonderful intro. Great to see Dean 'normal' in the family he has mourned all his life. His love and respect for his mother shone, and it tugged at my heart to see him happy here. So, Sam is secretive and having trouble at school. You wrote his discomfort at having his school record and reputation tarnished very well. Already I'm feeling uneasy... "Goth" books and Dean knows about them. hmmm...Loved the "he's a freakin vampire' comment. Dean's affection for his little brother is very obvious, not sure about Sam yet. He's so moody, broody and touchy, almost snarly. You've got my attention! Great start! Looking forward to the ride. PS Lucky you on meeting Jared and attending Chicago Con. I think I read your postings on one of the other forums, maybe saw some photos. *jealous over here* Glad you had fun!! Summary:
“HELP! Someone call an ambulance!...It’s okay Sam, I’ve gotcha…SOMEBODY HELP ME, PLEASE!” he pulled his cell roughly from his pocket, dialing while Sam’s pain-induced tears mixed with the copious amounts of blood snaking down his chin and neck, “You’re alright, Sammy, I’m right here...Hello?! I’m at the Sunset Inn on Downy – something, something’s wrong with my brother...Stay with me Sam, c’mon!...I don’t know, there’s blood coming from his mouth…Hold on, Sammy, please…I-I don’t think he can breathe!...SAM!” Dropping the phone Dean grasped his brother tighter, pulling him up and close. He could still feel him trembling and hear him choking on blood. Date: 03/11/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 This little ficlet well and truly blew me away. You captured everything about our boys in that horrifying moment John was all but lost in those three monumental words. I loved how you structured this piece, how each idea hung off those three words and were elaborated under their influence. My fav lines of yours - "And the absolute terror with which his brother’s statement was spoken shook Sam to the core. John Winchester would not live just because his sons wanted him to, just because Dean had declared to the world that he needed to. Sometimes, Sam knew, some things were just beyond your reach" awesome, bravo! These brilliant words shouted Deans need - "John Winchester was his father, his idol, his lifeline in a world of quicksand" - a standout line. And these must be amonst the saddest words ever uttered in fandom - "to be someone’s child, not the orphan he knew he was about to become" *sob* I could hardly breath while I read this. Congrats on a stunning piece of work. Summary: College life was proving far different than what Jessica had expected. Then she meets a mysterious reclusive scholar and soon nothing would be the same.

I absolutely loved everything about Sam in your story - this is exactly as I would have imaged it going down. Sam as shy, gentle, protective. And all leading to that one night in their apartment which started it all for us. Just heartbreaking coz as I read your beautiful love story I knew of course that it was all gunna turn bad. Your portrayal of Jess was awesone - the perfect girl for Sam. No wonder his grief knows no bounds. Awesome story, beautifully written. Summary:

Date: 21/10/07 Title: Chapter 1: Lies the Crown What a wonderful recount of all three of our Winchesters post Lawrence. You have nailed all three of them, showed how this trauma moulded them to the men they became, and how their relationships with each grew, how their relationships are unique but not always understood by each other. Cos boy do we know that they sure do get each other and they sure don't each other. I saw the beginnings of this strongly in this fic of yours! I am looking forward to exploring your Dark Horse Series now that I have found it, so you'll be hearing alot more from me. I loved your intro to your series, it drew me in. This little one-shot felt like the perfect place to start for me. Author's Response: I'm glad that you're looking forward to exploring the series. It's something that I sort of just stumbled upon when I realized how many John metas I was writing. I'm glad you think this is a good intro to the boys' lives post the fire. Thanks for the review, and I'm glad you're enjoying the series in general. Summary: Even at the tender age of four, Sammy Winchester knew exactly how to hurt his father. With his naïve questions, John doesn't know how to help his son understand why.

It needed to be addressed, but when I read it, it actually floored me with the possibility... So here I am again, haunted so I came back. I still feel a bit numb reading this... Sam's collapse at Sarah's was so sad. That's great writing to have your readers living and breathing your story, you sure had me! Glad Sam had his son, especially with Dean's traits. Your words "Dean was gone, and Sam was lost without him"...OMG *sob*... Powerful work!! Author's Response: I'm really glad you liked it. I was worried about the response it would get. Dean dead is obviously nothing any fan wants to see. It's a possibility though and needed to be addressed. This was actually one of the first stories I wrote for the show, but I'm glad it still had the impact. I'm really glad you liked it. Thanks for the review. Summary: The Winchester Brothers get the surprise of their lives when they investigate a water demon in Black Earth, Wisconsin.

I so have that picture of Sam's flush creeping up his face as his jaw dropped and Dean's 'ok, awkward..." look. Just priceless!!! "Mr Extra Onions", "pot luck" !!! just toooo funny! And this was your first one? Congrats on the great work. I had a ball reading this one. It was extremely well written as well as entertaining: fluent, cohesive and descriptive, not to mention true to our boys characters - and that's the draw card! The spooning, the cookies...so good!!I do, however, have a feeling that this is a light hearted beginning to lull us into a flase sense of security before some series SN and angst... Fingers heading for the"next" button... Author's Response: Hi Petra, i get such a thrill when i read your reviews, they are excellent. So happy for John that our ever sensitive Sammy responded before a Dean-snark popped out. Absolutely loved your line "Lady, if we were any more forward thinking we'd be in the next century" -funny but so true!! And speaking of twins - twin amulet... "His fathers lies and half truths had worked their insidious magic eating away at his trust and self-worth until Sam had borne the brunt of Deans accumulated anger and frustration." - very impressive: the historical cloud hanging around that gives us readers an absolute understanding to explain Dean's extreme reaction. The mystery and danger has hotted up well and truly. I'm hooked! Author's Response: Hi Petra, wow don`t know what to say, except thanks. I must admit I did try hard with this chapter and it needed somthing pretty strong to make Dean to hit his brother. Thanks Lorraine

Date: 26/10/07 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 take my hand Awesome opening paragraph - Dean's regret, anguish, grief was intense, just leapt out the page at me. Heather articulating the night Sam died felt all wrong, to Dean, to us. Felt like she was invading Dean's privacy. As you spelled out so clearly, Dean struggles to share his feelings with Sam, yet here's this stranger blabbing his most anguished misery in a short abrreviated horro movie scene. Your concluding paragraph matched your intro paragraph in grabbing my attention, but from a completely different angle - "...my mind has a triplex rating. There's some pretty naughty..." hee, hee, how Dean, how you. I'm really into your mystery, I'm always into the boys so looks like I'm here for the duration of your journey. Well done.
Author's Response: Hi Petra, Can`t have a SN story without, regret anguish and grief lol You are right Heathers snooping into Deans private thoughts was wrong but accidental and useful. Well you know me can`t have a sorry without a few naughty thoughts and lets face it Dean would certainly have his fair share lol Lorraine

This story is already intriguing and exciting but this chapter is different, unusual. I actually think I like your strangers...are you taking us for a ride here?? Am I not being careful enough? Have you sucked me in with their good looks... So many exciting aspects of this fantastic story and your artistic writing caught my attention. I loved how Dean was "comforted by the metallic clank of every conceivable weapon in their arsenal" - the equivalent of a Dean security blankie!! Your words "he was unaware he had given his memories voice" - beautifully said, you show Sam's confusion clearly as well as our understanding of Sam's need to articulate his thoughts to establish his mental ground. Dean's reaction to the vision - "Is that what it’s like for you all the time? Or did I just get lucky with the High Def Surround Sound version? Because I gotta tell you, that sucked—out freakin’ loud— with bells on!” was an awesome piece of expression, so descriptive, so Dean. Can't get any louder or clearer than that. Turn the speakers down!!!! The whole amulet, healing, serene environment, Dean's here thing has me a faithful follower... oh, and before I go.."as the glazed far away look settled on her face" when she held Dean's hand...are you kiddin' me? what other reaction is there?? Sammy had a broken arm AND a fractured skull AND internal bleeding?!? Dean's guilt trip's gunna be bigger than that Brown Mountain when he finds out! Author's Response: Hi Petra, Wow, I so look forward to your reviews they are really something. A FABULOUS REWARD FOR WRITING. Hi def visions really suck! lol! The glazed far away look, I have to be honest that was vanessa. God I HATE BEING HONEST. As always thanks for the awesome review Lorraine
