Nice descriptive paragraphs, love your word choice.  Examples that stood out to me:

Dean removed his hand once he could tell Sam was awake. He wrapped his fingers around the steering wheel, the silver ring that never left his hand clinking against the black metal. He slid his eyes sideways to look again at his brother; surreptitiously checking on Sam’s status was as natural to him as breathing.

~~~
She tried to ignore the fact that his grey T-shirt outlined the curve of the chest she still remembered clearly from last night, and accented his well-muscled arms perfectly. She also tried to ignore the fact that his hazel-green eyes lit up when he was pissed. Like he was now.
My thoughts after this paragprah were: good luck! You can't ignore Dean's lusciousness.
~~~

I like the authenticism of them being Irish & drinking Jameson whiskey.  I went to Ireland & visited that distillery & even participated in a whiskey tasting there.

I absolutely love your writing style! Your word choice is amazing, it adds and heightens the story so much! You write the brothers, the characters themselves and the relationship between the two, so realistically & so true to the show.

Brenna was definitely a mystery, but I liked her, she added to the story & your writing made it easy to visual her looks, behaviors, mannerisms – great job!  She didn't interfere with our boys and she definitely added to and progressed the story.  I liked your decision to not have her go into the building to help rescue Dean.  Also, another important factor, you didn't make her Mary Sue-ish at all – so a big congrats on that!

Dean on a tractor to go save Sam – classic!

I really enjoyed this character & the OC (which is unusual for me, especially considering she hooked up with one of our boys).  I don't like most OC b/c al lot of times, it's not done right, but you did it perfectly, I enjoyed her & her interaction between our boys.  Love your writing – as always!

Author's Response:

What a lovely thing to wake up to this morning! Thank you so much for such a detailed review. I appreciate you taking time to read and let me know specific passages that struck you -- that's gold, right there.

This was the first fanfic I wrote -- first story I ever finished, actually -- and I've learned a lot about character development since then. I'm really glad that you liked Brenna... I know what you mean about not usually liking OCs (especially female), and I knew that was going to be a risk going in to this story, but she compelled me. She's kind of a power house, that one.

I went to school in Dublin for a year -- traveled around the country when I wasn't in class -- and was entranced by its people and its culture. I really wanted a way to weave that history into a Supernatural story... and Brenna was how I decided to do it (knowing that getting Dean on a plane to Ireland was out of the question).

I didn't visit the Jameson distillery myself -- whiskey and I are not friends -- but I did go to the Guiness brewery a time or two. Free pint at the end of the tour. ::wink::

Thanks again for your time and I hope to see you again!

Great job interspersing past with the present.  Great scenes!  Great writing, you always say so much with so little.  Your descriptions are incredible!  You really nailed the relationship between the brothers – it's spot on!. Great angst – for both our boys – you definitely shared the angst.

I loved loopy Dean & thinking Abe was John.

Great addition w/ John going there & talking to Abe.  It was a perfect ending! Genius!

Author's Response:

Hi! Thanks so much for this! I was so pleased to see your review, and I appreciate your comments -- especially that I can say so much with so little. That's truly a compliment because I want you (readers) to "feel" and "see" what I feel and see when I write the story.

I'm glad you enjoyed this and I hope you enjoy any others that you read.

Definite attention grabber at the beginning that had he craving to see what happened to get the boys to that point, very curious!

Wow…the scene with Dean in the house & having to kill the pregnant woman b/c she'd been bitten…that was powerful.  Your writing is incredible, very descriptive and vivid.  You definitely got the brothers down really well.  Their interactions and behaviors towards each other is very true to the characters and the show.

You definitely kept he hooked throughout the whole story, you revealed just enough with each chapter.   You did a great job capturing Dean's spirit induced downward spiral/breakdown.  It was very well written (from both Dean & Sam's perspective); you really got into their heads.

Example of good descriptions. It's so simple but your word choice makes it clear and easy to imagine:

“Fine!” Dean snapped. His anger was soon forgotten in the need to maneuver the big car cautiously through the narrow tilting streets. Sharp turns confronted him unexpectedly and the street went up and down with maddening irregularity. The houses, old Victorians, sprawled over the ground almost to the street itself in places. Everything from tiny cottages to huge mansions crowded against each other for what little flat space there was between the valleys and ravines they were perched on. Many of the old houses were in disrepair. A few were in the process of being remodeled. Almost all of them had a sign out front advertising Bed and Breakfast.

This scene was yummy, had me picturing it, which resulted in my feeling flush (at the workplace too!):

The rain plastered his boxers to his muscular frame and for all intents and purposes he may as well have been naked. Dean obviously didn’t care as he continued rubbing his hands over his body to rid it of whatever bloody memories he could.

My thoughts after this: Gawd – I so want to be his hands right about now!

Very classy, sweet ending that really wrapped it all up and made me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Author's Response: Wow, ta so much!!! I loved Moonstar and i'm so glad you did to! It was fun to write, especially since I know the own and the hotel so well. yeah the rain scene was a gift for someone, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Incredible descriptions!!!  Seriously, the opening paragraph set the pace for the rest of the story, it was very vivid and portrayed and incredible picture:

The road wove dangerously through the darkened hillsides and wilderness. Hairpin turns led to deadly drop offs, while the pine forest encroached upon the desolate straight aways. The shadows themselves seemed to be alive, misting silently across the back roads, swallowing all the sounds around them. Even the black car seemed to be just another ghost of the night, its piercing headlights the only sign of life in the quiet night. The low growl and heavy music of the impala was muffled by the dense forest growth, its rhythms dying away into the night, leaving no trace of its passage.

The rest of the story didn't disappoint either (in either plot or descriptions and writing). Very original, unique and creative idea.  Had me thoroughly interested from beginning to end.  Interaction between Sam & Dean & both brothers & John was spot on!

Very sweet memories of Dean & Sam being born, very touching and made me all warm and fuzzy.  Good variety of past that enhanced the story and made it more real & helped to delve into John's emotions further.  Nicely written story that was very sweet but not overly and unrealistically sweet.  I very much enjoyed it.

I didn't quite understand Sam's motivation for leaving/locking Dean in the motel while he searched the library (chapter 10)

Great ending - loved it!  It wrapped everything up but was not too sappy or unrealistic.

The whole story was well written and kept me interested to see what was going to happen next.

Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

You characterize the boys perfectly.  Their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, mannerisms - everything is spot on.  Even if I had never seen the show (which would be a real shame) I would completely understand the boys as individuals and as brothers.  You write them so well that the visual is so clear and easy to imagine. You really get into their minds. I absolutely love how you write their relationship as well, it's so true to the characters and the show.

~~~
Great wording & great descriptions, throughout the whole thing, but this paragraph stood out to me:
He felt like Brenna had scooped his lungs from his chest with her words. Dean looked at him and for a moment Sam saw his brother’s heart in his eyes – raw, bleeding, barely beating. Then as he’d managed to do so many times over the last months, Dean emptied his eyes of all emotion until they were simply mirrors of green in his tense features.
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!
Author's Response:
Hi! It's you! Thanks so much for two fabulous reviews in one morning! I'm thrilled that you see the boys the way that I see them. I mean, that you see the characters as real and vital in my stories. These boys have captured my imagination and I don't think I could stop writing them right now if I wanted to.
Dean's eyes at the end of ELAC have haunted me -- they were in one moment so full of anguish and in the next completely void of emotion, I caught my breath the first time I saw that scene and I don't think I released it all season.
Thanks again for your time and attention. I hope to see you at another review page in the future!
Great, attention grabbing beginning.  Had me hooked from the onset.  Good, fresh rapport between the brothers, you capture their relationship well. Interesting developments & twists that kept me reading. Nice tie in to Bloody Mary.  I'm usually a huge fan of Sam angst & pain (not that I don't also love Dean) & even though this was the other brother I prefer to see in this situation, I still really enjoyed the story.
Great descriptions:
Each hitching step the boy took sounded of popping bones and torn, liquefied flesh.
More great descriptions, I could really picture this scene & feel Dean's agony.:
Dean felt long, thin fingers grasp him under the arms, away from his shoulder, and then a slight tugging as Sam tried to ease him up. Fire ripped through his puncture wound and was accompanied by a stabbing ache in his ribs. His head swam dizzily as he reared back – catching Sam painfully on the chin. Hearing Sam’s grunt, he tried to apologize but found he was unable to form the words, too busy fighting the black edges of his vision.
Using his good leg to help support his weight, Dean bit down on his lip, concentrating on keeping his reaction reigned in as Sam got him upright. Several grunts, curses and all kinds of facial acrobats later, Dean was back in his bed propped up on the flat, motel pillows. The elder man leaned heavily into them, his arm still holding his sides and his head pitched back – still working on controlling his panting into something more like regular breathing. No reason to be a girl about it.
I have to admit, I was a little worried about this secret b/c sometimes there is a big buildup to a "secret" & it turns out to be nothing or irrational.  I was not disappointed with this twist though.  What made it good was that I can see where he would feel directly responsible for her dying & he's not just overreacting & he wasn't overreacting about Sam being mad b/c it wasn't a stranger, it was a friend of his & Jess so it made more sense.  Also, I like how the memory didn't come to him out of left field – it was brought on by the death of Daniel.  I do think it's been carried on a bit too long but I can't wait to see what happens from here!
Author's Response:
Super-whoa! That was one heck of a review and my eyes were all o o.  Thank you ever so much, I'm happy you enjoyed and I appreciate all the thought you put into this review. I'm so glad the secret turned out good for you...I worried about how people would react to that.
Yeah, I do tend to drag things on. Don't know how to stop. I enjoy reading fics that are a little draw out and maybe that's part of the reason I drag things out...or I just dont know how to be concise.
Good mysterious beginning, that had me really enthusiastic to see what happens next.  Incredibly original idea – loved your portrayal of 'Dean-less Sam.'  This truly was an extremely unique story that was really well written.  I could not stop reading.  The conversations and thoughts were natural and flowed well.  I liked your backtory to 'Dean-less' Sam and I love that he has "visions" of real Sam.  I also liked Dean's commentary's, it really helped the story and made it more enjoyable and seem like I was in his head more & better understood Dean.  I thoroughly enjoyed this story!! This line made me giggle: Sam looked over again, more thoughtfully this time. Dean tried to arrange his features into a trustworthy expression, but he had the sneaking suspicion that he just looked constipated.
I like the wording of these sentences, I don't really know why, but it really got my attention:
Dean stared. This conversation was only two lines old, and already he was beginning to feel out of his depth. “Sam...” he started, but the look Sam gave him made him stutter to a halt.
Some of the transitions from past to present were a little rough. Nice story, I was interested to see who this person is & what her relationship is w/ the boys (Dean particularly).  I got to say that your writing was good, pretty solid.  I become disinterested in the original character and found myself unable to continue with the story past chapter 7 (6 or 7). When she yelled at John, I don't know, it just seemed to unreal to me & kind of Mary Sue-ish.  You did portray the brothers (both current & past) very well.
Nice catchy beginning.  I liked how it was set up like a real episode with the case snippet in the beginning, giving the reader a hint of what the boys will be going after but still leaving plenty of mystery.  Nice touch with Dean wishing for Sam back in his life & how that immediately preceded the events of the pilot. I liked Marie, you really portrayed her well & brought her to life.  I like her backstory and the story of why she is out for revenge, there's more depth to it.  This story had great twist that kept me thoroughly interested and hooked. Loved this paragraph:
He could recklessly hunt skinwalkers and vengeful spirits, fearlessly face poltergeists, laugh in the face of vampires, even demons, but none of those brought on the gut-wrenching nausea or shuddering cold sweats he felt at the mere visual contact of RATS.                                                                                                 Another Another incredibly descriptive paragraph:
His bright green eyes snapped open to the sight of something furry. Even as he gave out a startled yelp and was throwing himself out of the sleeping bag, thrashing wildly and scuttling backwards like a crab across the floor, he managed to snap on the flashlight.
This was a really good story & was a great backstory to explain Dean’s fear of rats.
You have a good writing style & from what I saw you write the relationship between the brothers pretty well.  You just need to fill it out more (not enough substance).  Also I had no idea where the doctor came into play – there was no backstory there, I was confused.  I don't want to come across as rude, but I stopped reading this story after about 7 chapters because I wasn't sure what was going on, it seemed kind of jumpy to me, also the lack of backstory & substance made it somewhat difficult to read.  Also, some of the dialogue didn't seem real at all.  Maybe I stopped too early.  I think you have a real talent, it just needs to be developed more.
