Date: 29/07/08 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 The lies we tell ourselves Hi Louy, Well, it's been so long since I started this that I went back and re-read the first chapter, too. I did this instead of watching NCIS, my second favorite tv show, which should tell you something about the power of your words and plotting, girl. So, I'm way enjoying reading this - angst and mystery and hunting plotlines all being woven together. Great dialogue! Sue

Date: 31/08/08 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 The rules we live by The first scene with Dean dwelling on the little things was just remarkable. And your description of the cemetery is creepy, haunting, drenched in atmosphere. All those huge ravens remind me of "The Birds", although I've never seen the whole movie, just the snippets was enough. Great job, very intense! Sue

Date: 31/08/08 Title: Chapter 5: Chapter 5 The pain we endure Wow, Bobby shows up and things just go to hell. There's a ton of stuff going on in this chapter. A retransformation sigil, what a cool concept. If I understand it correctly, this means that the energy/entities that escape from the fissure are transformed into good energy/entities, so they help people, acting totally the opposite of what would've been their normal behavior. Fascinating. Then, why did the black dog who saved that boy revert back to evil and attack Bobby and the boys? The more time it spends outside, the more it reverts back to its true nature? Complicated, huh? My ears are still ringing with Dean's screams, so I'm off to read the next chapter. Good thing it's Labor Day weekend and I don't have to go to work tomorrow;-) Sue

Date: 31/08/08 Title: Chapter 6: Chapter 6 The sacrifices we make Wow. Intense. Poor Sam, fighting with the black dog over Dean, not seeing how he can win, but refusing to give up. At least I knew that Bobby would come to the resuce with the exorcism. Then things just get more intense, Sam forcing Dean to drink that horrible concoction, and the ritual is finally starting. Another creepy, mesmerizing effect, the black lines from the oversized devil's trap wriggling free of their positions on the drawing and closing in on Dean. Poor baby, I really hope he doesn't remember any of this. Sue

Date: 01/09/08 Title: Chapter 9: Chapter 9 The answers we seek That was an amazing graveyard scene - a picthed battle with Dean - told to stay in the car - in the thick of it. Awesome! Intense! And you even had the outsider's view of it, with David watching from the sidelines and then scurrying back to home and safety, like any normal person would. Fantastic! Sue

Date: 01/09/08 Title: Chapter 10: Chapter 10 The shadow on the horizon Wow, what an ending. You've left things half-done - Dean resignedly awaiting his fate, Sam trying to keep his hope alive and not let Dean know that there is any hope at the same time, and Bobby worried and wondering if they can really pull this off. Man, I'm glad that you're well into the sequel by now! Sue Summary:

Date: 07/04/08 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 The World is Full Of Wonders! Interesting chapter, with Dean seesawing between hunter and injured innocent. Like Sam's realizing that he has to be the big brother and look after Dean. Hey again Sue. thanks for returning hun! I'm glad you were interested enough to try another chapter. Yup, this is a bit of a role reversal scenario, wanted to expore Sam looking out for Dean for a change. And yeah, 'proper' Dean is in there somewhere but not quite totally there at the moment. Date: 07/04/08 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Paris Hilton and A Motel Pool! Really liked the flashback scene with the werewolf. Love that Sam is realizing what an awesome big brother Dean is. And I always like it when people notice Dean's preference for the bed by the door, and the meaning behind it. Good stuff! Sue Author's Response: Sue Lovely to see you again and I'm pleased you likes the flashback. I think Sam does know deep down what a fantastic brother he has in Dean but Dean doesn't recognise it in himself. I think he instinctively is Sam's guardian and so the bed by the door thing is just a reflex action for him whether it puts Dean in danger himself or not. So here even though he is still a bit lost to himself those instincts cannot be elliminated. Thanks for reviewing Sue really appreciate it. Bev xx

Date: 07/04/08 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Alternative music and sweet potato fries! Dean doesn't recognize Bobby's voice, maybe he'll remember him better in person. The predatory waitress seemed a bit over the top. Like how Dean chose the veggies over his usual burger. I've never heard of sweet potato fries, they're usually just baked - and occasionally candied. Sue Hey Sue. Well Dean's gonna meet Bobby in person later on so we'll see. And ,no, I'd never heard of sweet potato fries either, an American colleague explained them to me. Okay, Dean had to be told what their life really was like and you handled that well, but I think this should've happened in the privacy of their hotel room. This isnt't the type of conversation that you'd have in a public place. Even if there weren't any other customers, there's still the waitstaff around, and what if Dean freaked and bolted? Sue Sue. Hey you're doing the whole story huh? Thanks that's good of you to spend all that time. Yeah, I see your point I kinda feel that Sam was a bit reluctant to have the conversation at all and there was an element of he got backed into doing it at this point and the diner was as good as anywhere. Date: 07/04/08 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7. Vampires. This is a great fight scene for a first timer. You handled 3 different fights at the same time, and it flowed pretty well. There's a couple of abrupt POV shifts, but I followed the fighting OK. Sue. Thank you, OK yeah, perhaps it did shift backwards and forwards rapidly but it was a pacey chapter and I was trying to reflect that frenzied cadence. Ah well! I think you should put the boys at whatever age feels right for you. A nifty little story, take something as normal and apple-pie as lime jello and turn it into a slippery, snarling supernatural that's out to get poor sick!Dean. Not that he wants the other cars, but he's entitled to his winnings. I can see him letting the other drivers keep their cars for a fee, though. Date: 30/03/08 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Hi, I read chapters 1-4 at once. Brrr! This story has a lot of atmosphere, I'm feeling cold just reading it and it's 70 degrees here;-) I like your random unexpected plot twists. Dean isn't telling Sam everything that's going on, but Sam is doggedly trying to help him and figure out everything anyway. Author's Response: Hi back, I must give all the credit for the random plot twists to my seriously horrible attention span. I'm glad you like them though, sometimes I think I spin a little too much.
