Date: 14/10/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Wow. This is an awesome look at the inner workings of Dean's mind, heck, at inner Dean, period. You cover a lot of background which flows easily into present-day. And you leave Dean facing a very nasty question, what if destiny can't be changed? This certainly lays the groundwork for Dean's coming argument with Sam, and explains why it looked so easy for him to belt Sam, twice. Excellent job! Sue Author's Response: *blushes a deep crimson* Thanks Sue! And the stars on top, lovely. The line about destiny sorta reverberated inside my skull for like the whole weekend... I really don't believe in destiny so it had a real impact on me. I believe everyone is shaping his own life. To see that Dean couldn't fight destiny was really tough. But you should've added a tag at the end, Dean comes back and finds his missing anti-possession charm (maybe Sam deliberately hid it?). Date: 03/11/08 Title: Chapter 1: The Unbearable Heaviness of Being Hi Mary, Wow, a stunning look into Dean's mind as he gets a glimpse of Sam's powers, as Sam takes down Samhail. Other missing scenes--even the ep itself--have sort of glossed over how powerful Sam IS, now, and he hasn't reached his full potential by a long shot. This also adds meaning to the later scene between Dean and Castiel, when Castiel says he doesn't envy Dean his (upcoming) decisions. Sue Author's Response: Hi Sue Yep I wanted Sam to be kinda relishing in his power in this without going to OTT. He is really powerful and they are kinda skirting the issue...glad you think I got inside Dean's mind. I had Jensen's face frozen on the PC screen as I was writing this so all kudos go to him. I think too that Dean's big decisions will be regarding his brother rather than whatever else is happening. I just hope that he won't have to make the one he (and everyone else) fears the most. Date: 06/11/08 Title: Chapter 1: Perceptions Hi Mary, I liked this! Very solid, flowing conversation between the boys. Sam had a pretty telling argument using how Henriksen used to view them, and that they have killed people-- it wasn't their intention, but it was the result of using the demon-killing knife. And I'm sure Dean was thinking it, even if he didn't come out and say it: absolute power corrupts absolutely. I liked the lighter talk, Dean bemoaning the fact that he didn't get girl angels! Author's Response: Thanks Sue- as I wrote this- I also drew from the fact that Kripke always referred to Dean coming back from Hell as the ultimate POW... while I dont know what that feels like- I've had to do the whole PTSD debriefing stuff before... and its harder than hell to admit when stuff is eating away at your mind... Lyrics fit really well with the story, too. Sue Author's Response: Thank you, Sue. I was listening to the song on the way to work one morning, and the more I concentrated on the words, the more I thought I could write a story around it. I'm relieved it worked. And yes, I do like to throw a bit of misdirection into the mix.
