Date: 02/09/08 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 The Bird and the Worm Whoa, way to turn the mood from brotherly pranks to demon's got them by the tail. Sam's gotten off lightly so far, he just got drugged. I cringed through your description of Bobby waling on Dean, poor baby really got stomped on. Off to see what happens next! Date: 02/09/08 Title: Chapter 3: Chapter 3 Promises Good recounting of Sam piecing things together and getting past his pain and fear to do something productive. Bobby took away Dean's weapons, so Sam can't use them, but what about Bobby's own weapons? He's got an arsenal stockpiled somewhere in his house, and I bet the demon didn't think to remove them. And I'm guessing Sam knows where they are, too. At first, I was puzzled by Sam's choice of help, but then I realized that Ellen is the fastest way to reach out to other hunters, and Ash, and to spread the word that Dean's gone missing and Bobby's been possessed. Waiting for more! Sue Author's Response: Well observed, Sue! Sam knows where the weapons are, but panic can do funny things to you. However, that wasn't the real reason why he called Ellen. He feels lost without Dean who is usually the one to come up with a plan when a situation like that appears. But now with Dean gone, taken. Sam is on his own. This was a totally believable Wee!chester story for me. Good job. Date: 06/09/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Okay, I read the first two chapters at one go, and while I'm not a fan of gratuitous, graphic hurt, this is creatively twisted and compelling. You've got me thinking about this, trying to pin down the time frame. Has to be after Phantom Traveller, but is it before or after Home? or Shadow? Also, so far, there's no indication that Sam and Dean know of John's role in this mess, but I think that will change. I don't think you're going to overlook the psychological torture of their captor taunting them with John's choice. I think the bad guy is a hunter. Maybe he hired a gang to kidnap the boys, but the head bad guy is a hunter who really doesn't like John at all. Waiting for more. Sue Author's Response: Hi Sue Tried not to make it about what is getting done to each boy but rather how it appears to the other, the torture is usually described how their brother hears and feels it, although the descriptive words do add an edge. (I hope) Not quite able to pin it down for you yet, there is an episode that I may want to refer to so I've left the timeframe hanging for now. Set it in S1 as 1: I needed John alive and 2: I really didn't want to torture a 19/20 year old Sam. Didn't feel right. You're right Sam and Dean may think dad is involved but that hasn't been confirmed to them yet, but that will change and soon. Bad guy a hunter?? Maybe...or it could be something else completely! Date: 12/10/08 Title: Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Whoa, finally got caught up with the backstory, I just kept clicking Next and read all the way through, didn't even stop to review. You've provided a really interesting, wrenching and believable reason for John and Daniel's falling out. Nice almost-mention of the Colt, too;-) Your portrayal of ruthless!John hits the mark, too. If John's willing to die to save his sons, it's not too far a leap to believe that he'd kill for them, too.. even a human. The ending has me wondering how the heck this can be resolved, with the bracelets tethering 2 Winchesters. Unless, Sam's demon blood prevents Sam from being killed by this?? Off to find out. Sue
Author's Response: HI Sue, Glad you liked the reason for John and Daniel's fall out and how John almost knew that Daniel had the Colt but was never quite sure until he read the letter. I had the back story idea first and built the rest around it. I really think that there isn't a thing that the Winchester's would do for each other...no line that they wouldn't cross if it was family in danger. I never thought about using Sam's demon blood that way, actually quite wished I had!! Thanks, Mary x

Date: 12/10/08 Title: Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Wow, you covered a lot of ground in the last few chapters. Loved the double devil's trap, and the way John sprang it was all John--well, and a bit of Jack Traven, too ("Shoot the hostage.") Setting this close to Something Wicked was a great move, too, making it easy for everyone to believe that John would choose to save Sam, although it looked like he didn't, originally. I can't believe John just took off, after all that---well, yes, I can, but still... I hope he comes back for a little while, at least, after he's taken care of Jake. Off to read more. I love all the episode around SW and DMB wanted people to think Sam would be him choice but really John would never choose I don't think, not unless he was going to loose one anyway. Date: 12/10/08 Title: Chapter 16: Chapter 16 Well, an unexpected and brilliant twist - J. W. is Jake Washington, not John Winchester. And a nice bit of foreshadowing at the end, too. Overall, this was a terrific read, nicely plotted and full of the elements that make the Winchester universe so fun to play in. While the graphic content had me cringing on occasion, it wasn't as heavy-handed as it could've been and it did have a purpose. Part of me is wishing that you'll write something lighter next time-- and the other part is wondering if there's a sequel, with the Winchesters going after Mr. Anderson, and hopefully preventing him from returning his demon twin to this Earth. Sue Author's Response: HI there I was wondering if anyone would pick up on the fact that the initials were the same, I like a little twist at the end and I usually like to link it somewhere into the seasons too, though not usually as much as stealing part of an episode. lol Thanks your comments are really kind and I'm glad that the torture wasn't too much for you but I had to get John mad! I do have a little series of stories under 'showers and sheets' were I go every now and again to lighten the load on the old muse!! Date: 15/10/08 Title: Chapter 1: What Makes The Man? Hey Mary, This is a nifty little idea, and I buy Dean being messy--everywhere but in the Impala. Dean is so picky about the Impala's workings and appearance, he's not going to trash her with his food wrappings. I know where you got this--from Simon Said, in season 2. SS was Ben Edlund's first SPN script and he just wrote that scene wrong. He has Dean--Dean??! - complaining about eating junk food and tossing trash in his baby's back seat. So not Dean. OTOH, if he gave Dean's lines to Sam, it would've made perfect sense. OK, I'll tone down the rant, sorry. This was nicely written, great exploration of Sammy getting back on an even keel. Sue Author's Response: Hey Sue, Thanks for that, glad you liked the idea. I know what you mean about the Impala and it was that scene that made me include Dean's baby in the mess fest, but it was just a little mess! (funny I never thought about him not eating the food just the fact that he tossed it into the back of the car!) He is always eating in her though so perhaps there will be wrappers and cups in her, even if it is just for a little while. (God I'm calling her a her!!) Am I forgiven???..LOL. This was conceived after the elation of a viewing of Ten Inch Hero (at long last) on the tube back from Richmond/Kingston. The film was awesome! A big Thank you to Cassie for arranging it. In searching for story prompts we (Birdie, Janger and Alena) decided to pick an unrelated word for each letter of the alphabet, then decided to create a story from these words. This is the result. Originally they were put forward as individual drabble prompts but we decided to turn them into one big slightly insane story. We left in the wake of our proposed plotlines a carriage full of totally bemused commuters and a taxi driver who was reaching for the emergency restraints!

Date: 28/09/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Hi gals, This is an amazingly coherent piece of collaborative insanity. Despite the thin plot - Dean takes care of a sick Sam - and zigzagging narrative to account for the A-Z vocabulary, you managed to fit in a lot of essential Winchester elements. Limp! Sam and Protective!Dean as promised, but also Dean's rock music, Dean taking care of the Impala, both boys' eating preferences, Dean's wandering eye for the ladies, and Sam trying to help someone/something in distress. And who thought of the lethal weapons line? I love a good double-entendre! Sue Author's Response: Hey Sue, Thanks for taking the time to read and review our little venture here. We sketched out the plot line together on the tube and then worked on the beginning together, then we each worked a section and then attempted to splurge it together. Our focus was, I guess, on not missing out any of the letters, so perhaps the plot became of secondary importance in the general mayhem. Date: 15/10/08 Title: Chapter 4: Bobby Well, I'm playing catch up again. The first chapter was cringe-worthy, I was so glad that Sam found Dean in the second chapter, and that Dean knew he was with Sam. Bobby's friend Mags seems like a solid original character, professional but sympathetic, too. I think Bobby's going to enlist Missouri's help to communicate with Dean. Remember in Home she said she could read Sam's thoughts. Well, I'm putting my guess here and then going on to read the next chapter. Sue Author's Response: Hi Sue You've been busy today! The first chapter was a kinda chuck you into the story one, poor Dean. I like Mags she is loosely based on a friend of mine, which I think gives her more depth. Date: 15/10/08 Title: Chapter 5: Dots And Dashes Neat little bit of backstory, but Dean was 17 in the summber of 1996, he was 18 in the summer of '97. I can definitely see Dean backtalking to John over a girl, esp if she meant something to him. I'm trying to guess if Angela gets killed or becomes the b/witch that got her revenge on Dean. Since I'm 0 for 0 on my previous plot guessing, I'm not gonna tell you which way I'm leaning;-P So Bobby's communicating with Dean thru Morse code, cool. Bobby's got the right idea that they need to keep it simple, tho. Maybe they can abbreviate by using text msg words and spellings? Hope to read more soon! Sue Author's Response: Sue! Date: 11/11/08 Title: Chapter 16: Reasons To Be Vengeful Hi Mary, I've been playing catch up, clicking and moving from one chapter to the next. Wow, I thought you'd done your worst to the boys with the failed re-anacting of the ritual, but now you've added another layer of terror and temptation with the Crossroads Demon. You have a seriously twisted imagination, girl. Until your explanation, I thought the younger woman was the serial killer's kid sister, who somehow teamed up with Angela's relative to get revenge. Splitting up the Mom into two people, wow, neato plot twist. I'm guessing Audrey is the wronged party, but that's just 'cause I can't think who else is left, and Marion did say Audrey was dead.
