Something Wicked. John grabbed his young sons, threw their stuff in the trunk of the Impala and booked. He had felt anger toward Dean for not listening, for not following orders, but he mainly had felt terror. He looked at his son differently now. Spoilers for 1.18 Something Wicked

Date: 19/09/08 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Hey BJ, This is an awesome tag to Something Wicked. I remember clearly the difference in mood John shows in the after-the-rescue scene, hugging Sammy and glaring dagger eyes at Dean. You've provided an interesting and thought-proviking alternate view of it. Thanks! Sue Author's Response: Hey, thanks, Sue! My first ever tag. I simply always loved John and never conceived how some fans didn't. This was my attempt to show he wasn't just a heartless bastard, but rather a comflicted father doing what he thought was best for his sons. Take care, B.J. Summary: Why Dean hates rats.

Very much in character, both Dean's protecting Sam and not telling his Dad about the rats. Author's Response: Thank you, Sue ...this was my first attempt ever so it was definitely on a wing and a prayer...glad you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to find and review.....jude Summary:

Date: 03/12/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Hi, I saw this on Sam's reading list and thought with a name like that, it's got to be a Scrabble story;-) I used to play Scrabble a lot with my younger sister, and I usually won (of course)! This was a fun story, I can just see the boys' expressions as they're playing. Can't wait for the sequel! PS Loved the description of the 'tile holder-upper thingies' - I always thought of them as pews.
Summary: Missing scene from WIAWSNB. Set between Sam finding Dean and their little heart to heart in the motel room. I needed more HC and brother moments than the ep gave me.

Date: 09/10/07 Title: Chapter 6: Way the Wind Blows Wow. This is awesome. I've been reading this in one sitting. Love the way you've merged What Is and What... with Dean's amnesia. For a while I thought Sam was dead and that was the reason for Dean's amnesia, glad that's not the case. Totally intrigued by the Second YED, too. It's past midnight and I've got to stop for now. Keep up the great work!!
Author's Response: Don't you love reading stories in just one sitting without having to wait for updates? WIAWSNB was one of my favorite episodes - not to mention I simply loved Carmen (as well as the actress) so I had to find a way to have them end up together. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope you enjoy the last few chapters. Thanks for reading.

Date: 10/10/07 Title: Chapter 12: Grazed Knees Hey, I finished the second half of Knees and it's only a quarter after midnight, not half-past like last night. Wonderful second half of the story, loved little Johnny - and I knew this woud end with another bike ride. But I didn't figure out how Dean got out of his deal until I read your last sentence. Ah, just curious, why'd you pick Tulsa, OK for Mary's gravesite? All I knew from the ep (CSPWDT) was that it wasn't Lawrence, KS. Looking forward to reading the prequel!
Author's Response: I'm glad you decided to finish the story, and I'm also glad you enjoyed it. I, too, loved Johnny. I'm in my half mind just to write a story completely about him. I have this wonderfully cheesy story all mapped out. Haha. Tulsa? Umm... I just picked it. I picked it awhile ago for my story "Extempore" about Mary and John so I used it again. Summary:

Silly me, I tend to think of humorous stories as short ones, since it's hard to keep up the comic overtones, but this is already 4 chapters and doesn't feel like it's anywhere near finished. Can't wait to read about Sam & Dean's adventures at the bark park. Sue Author's Response: Thank you, Sue!! It's really good to know that the comedy is working. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying it.

And your doggy thoughts seemed pretty believable - but I'm a cat person, so I guess you gotta take that with a grain of salt. I didn't find this last chapter at all boring, just a lot of Determined!Dean and lost puppy Sam, so no tomatoes, although, wait, isn't a tomato bath a remedy for a skunk encounter? Sue Author's Response: Thank you, Sue! Your kind words are much appreciated! Ahhhhh, yes, the tomato bath--it's coming up in the next chapter. hehehe

Liked the double sigh of contentment at the end! Oh, and the prank war reference, does that mean either of you are entering the challenge? Sue
Author's Response: Happy to hear you enjoyed the chapter! I'm toying with the idea of entering the challenge. :-)

Liked how Sam quickly transitioned from annoyed at Dean for using him as a chick magnet to concerned over his sprained ankle. And the ending scene in the Impala was just right. Sue

I'm leaving a (virtual) oversized Halloween cookie for you - it has a frosting full moon, a black cat (chocolate frosting) and the outline of a rickety old haunted house - the cookie itself is chocolate chip. Enjoy the bribe and please write more soon. Author's Response: Sue, thank you so very much.............and a tantalizing and delicious cookie it is ....YUMMY !!!!! Glad you are enjoying this little romp......as you know it is written as an auctuon piece...V allowed me much latitude...asking only for HURT Dean, angst, and unusual usage of a SPOON...it's fun.!!! another chapter this weekend.....

I do hope that those junkyard jerks get what's coming to them, and the cop who had the Impala towed as abandoned must be in on the scheme, too, right? Loved visualizing Dean's acrobatic climb up and over the fence, and landing on the tire pile. Sue
Author's Response: yep, Sue...you know our hero... anything for Metallicar...... It started out silly and a silly title and chapter titles seemed appropriate Glad you're enjoying it so far

A lot of humor going on here, with occasional bits of seriousness, like Sam freaked at the thought of Dean anywhere near that electrified fence. I'm curious, did you make up the Moon hubcaps brand to fit the story, or is there really a Moon hubcap company? Sue Author's Response: Sue........Moons exist... quite pretty......actually $45-100 range apiece.....they are meant to duplicate hubcaps from 1940s ......... just put Moon Hubcaps on internet Glad you're enjoying it so far ..yeah....kind of a dark comedy I think....on top of having that mental picture of Dean doing all of this in Boxers....poor baby

Author's Response: Sue, glad you're enjoying the reading 'cuz I had so much fun with the writing on this one.... Thought we could bring this one full circle Summary: Sam finds something he never expected to in Dean's pocket.

Date: 08/10/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Wow, someone who agrees with my timeline for the Stanford years;-) Honestly, this is a great flashback, love how you tied it to Dean in the Impala at the end of the pilot. Now, I want you to write the flashback scene from Sam's POV, please. Set almost 2 months after the pilot, just before Christmas, something Sam sees makes him remember... this would be fine reading, love to have Sam's thinking about this, since he's not exactly the good guy in the flashback. Author's Response: That's a great idea, I'm deifinitely going to get to work on this, since it wasn't my intention to make Sam look like a bad guy...so I'd like to show it from his POV. I hope you check back when it gets posted, though that might be awhile yet. Thanks for the review! ~Sierra Summary: After years of doing the job for free, Dean is forced to part with the only thing he has left in the world.

Date: 10/10/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Well, if you set out to tug on the reader's heartstrings, you've succeeded. But this story is missing a layer of logic/motivation/something. Why is Dean so desperate for $5,000 that he's selling the Impala? (BTW, $5,000 sounds like a very low figure for a 50 year old car in near-mint condition in 2017.) Why is Dean retiring from hunting before age 40? Did he promise Sam on the night that Sam died, that if he was still around after 5 years, he'd quit hunting and live the normal, apple-pie life that Sam had always wanted and was denied? Did he run into trouble on his last hunt and make a Cat Stevens-type deal with God, "If I survive this, I'll be an ordinary, good citizen from now on?" Or--?
Author's Response: Well, to me, I kind of figured he'd just reached a point in his life where he could no longer afford to keep the Impala. Not that he necessarily needs the $5,000, but he can't afford to keep on putting gas in her, and keep her maintained. In my mind, he would sell her, then buy himself some little $500 Cavalier. And yes, if I found a car like for that much money, I'd be thrilled. But, amazingly, it does happen! I saw a listing recently, for a 1967 Impala, fully-restored, for $5,800. Granted, the story is ten years from now... Also, I didn't mean to make it sound like he was giving up hunting. Just that he was giving up the Impala. Though your ideas about why he would give up at 40 are interesting... Anyways, thank you very much for the review! And your critiques as well, don't think I'm not taking them to heart, or that I don't appreciate them :) ~Sierra Summary:

Date: 30/07/08 Title: Chapter 1: 365 Peanut M&Ms Well, this is like the fourth time I read this over the months, so I figured I'd better say something. The first time I read it was way before the season finale and I was in denial. This story is an AU, Sam is gonna save Dean, it isn't going to happen. Then, I read it again after the season finale, and left tears but no review. I know, bad girl, but what could I say that hadn't already been said already? After Media West, I read Birdie's zine M&M story, and realized that there was more than one M&M story out there. I came back and re-read this again. Then, I wrote my own M&M story, and said I'd been blown away by 365 Peanut M&Ms in one of my responses. So, I just re-read it and yep, still blown away by this, and I'm finally telling you that. I love this story, you got everything right. As Dean would say, "Yahtzee!" Sue
Author's Response: I really don't know what to say, other than "Wow". Your very kind words have left me speechless and all I can think to say back is "yahtzee in sixes". Thanks so much, I really am very grateful!! Summary: ONESHOT. The boys have an unexpected visitor on Halloween night.

ROTFLOL, Lucky for me I'd just put my diet Coke down before reading this. And the ending cracked me up, too. Sue Author's Response: Hi, Sue! Great to hear from you! I wouldn't mind including the fight scene, maybe a few chapters down the pike. Thanks for the review

Date: 24/10/07 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 The Glass House This was an interesting chapter, scattered all over the place. The interview with the neurologist, which had its own twist, Dean losing it, and giving Jessica an earful of the details of Sam's earlier life, without explaining the reasons for it, and Dean's hunting of Pullman, with the mysterious stranger beating him to the finish line. Who was that hunter? John? (But John would've left Dean's paperwork exactly as he found it, leaving no trace he'd been there.) Bobby? Whoever is the local hunter for the Palo Alto area---? It can't be a cop... does Jessica have an older brother??? Author's Response: It was a bit scattered, hopefully not too much. All of those things needed to happen, but none of them really seemed to warrant a chapter of their own. Never considered a brother for Jess, maybe in another tale, hmmm.... Thank you for reading and for the review

Date: 24/10/07 Title: Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Tie My Shoes I love this chapter! It doesn't have a lot of action, or description, but it's got tons of feeling. I knew that Jessica's last words (I know you're not close) would leave Dean reeling, love the way that it's haunting him throughout the long cross-country drive, with his memories as a firm counterpoint to Jess's words. |
