![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 26/04/12 Title: Chapter 5: Epilogue I loved this story and I'm glad you had the angel bring Sam back. Off to read more stories. *favorites* Author's Response: Hey, Laina, Thank you. This was my very first foray into the world of fanfiction. I was absolutely terrified, to the point of not posting at all. But my friend threatened that if I didn't post, she'd steal my login and password and post it for me. I've come a long way from this - my one-shots now are usually longer than this whole multi-chapter story - LOL. But I'm so glad you enjoyed this early effort. Jules Summary:
Sam plays a deadly game of cat and mouse with a hunter who is determined to succeed where Gordon Walker failed - to kill Sam. With Dean held hostage, who can Sam trust as he desperately tries to stay one step ahead of the hunters and rescue his brother.

I so love when the boys show much they care. *Favorites* Author's Response: Oh, you're getting into the old stuff now. And I think you're about to run out of reading material. I'd better hurry up and come up with something new. This one went through several re-writes, as I recall. And I was sort of pushing some boundaries here, wondering how far I could go with certain scenes. I was still very, very knew to the world of fanfiction, and wasn't sure what was permissable at that stage. So thrilled that you loved this oldie. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 28/04/12 Title: Chapter 7: Epilogue Love that they have each other's backs. Author's Response: Thanks for that, Laina. This was my second story I'd ever written, and my first attempt at a humour one. But it sort of morphed into a bit of humour and a bit of drama, so I just let the story take me where it would. I find writing a very organic process at times. I start out with an idea or a scene, or perhaps a bit of dialogue, and then build the story around that. Sometimes it takes me strange places before the ending, which is usually not too much different from how I first imagined it. This one was a bit like that. I had the idea for the Impala to be possessed by a ghost and to chase Dean, and the poltergeist in the theatre grew from that. Glad you liked it. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 26/04/12 Title: Chapter 10: Epilogue This was freakin hilarious. I like Macy and glad that Leroy finally got found out. I also found the whole thing about the GPS tracker so damn funny. Love this story, Jules. *Favorites* Author's Response: I enjoyed writing this one, I have to admit. It almost took on a life of its own, along with Macy - lol. She was such a fun character, I just kept giving her more and more to do, while trying not to let her take over the story or take the focus away from the boys too much. And I must confess, I really enjoyed writing Leroy getting the crap beaten out of him by Dean, and then being shot by Macy with rock salt. Took me a little while to plan out the note they left pinned to his boxers when they dumped him at the cop-shop, but I got there in the end. Ah, the GPS tracker - I had fun with Sam's complete lack of mechanical knowledge. And knowing what a supressor looks like, and what it's for, and what it could look like.....that made it all the more sweet - ROFL! Poor Sammy - I do like to torture him. Might have to beat up Dean in a future story, just to change it around a bit. lol Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 22/04/12 Title: Chapter 10: Epilogue I love this story, Jules. Loved that Sam killed the Trickster and his/her henchmen and that the brother's were able to have at least a little bit of a nice time before the Trickster tried to kill them. Author's Response: Thanks for that, Laina. I threw everything but the kitchen sink at this one. And I had fun doing it, too. I do like the humour ones, they make a nice break from the angst. And I had lots of fun putting the boys up at a luxury resort instead of their usual dive of a motel, and then throwing their worst fears at them willy-nilly - lol. Sadly, as with a lot of fics, I got Kripke'd and this story is now AU, thanks to the real Trickster being Gabriel...*sigh*....oh, well. I still had fun. Glad you loved the story so much. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 21/04/12 Title: Chapter 18: Epilogue I'll keep this short and sweet. I loved this story. And although I usually tell you my favorite parts, I can't do that this time because both stories were so great that I like all of both of them. I do have a question, though? Would you ever consider writing a sequel to this story? Even if it's only a small chapter fic or a really long one-shot? I'd really love to see Regular-Sam spending some time with AU-Dean and AU-Sam while Regular-Dean is in hell. I like Regular-Sam being with the AU brother's a lot better than him being alone or led around by that b***h Ruby. Hope to hear from you soon, Laina. Author's Response: Hi, Laina, Ohh, dear.....another plot bunny.... I had toyed with the idea of having au-Gordon make an appearance in "our" universe with au-Sam and Alyssa, but hadn't gone much further than that. And yes, know what you mean about Ruby. She very skillfully manipulated Sam all during season four and most of season three, insinuating herself between the brothers and driving that huge wedge between them - with the helo of the angels. And his shame at being so thoroughly duped, having his own intelligence used against him - I really felt for Sam at the end there, and all through season five when he was trying so hard to fix the mess he'd created. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 21/04/12 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I love the way they tease each other but that you also know they would have each other's back's in an instant. Nice one. Author's Response: Hey, Laina, Oh, absolutely. Even if they were fighting, cut one and the other one bleeds. That showed in the way Sam dropped his plans and took off to find Dean in Scarecrow, and a thousand other times for them both during the last seven seasons. This was an experiment, to see if I could pull it off. I'd read a Star Trek fanfic which was nothing more than a dialogue between Spock and McCoy in a similar situation - pitch-dark and no descriptions virtually, but in that, it was pretty easy to pick who was talking. So I played a little, to see if I could pull it off with a SN fic. Glad it worked - whew. Jules

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 18/04/12 Title: Chapter 6: Epilogue Okay, so this review is for both stories. I love how you handled Dean's deal and I wish that Kripkie had used your storyline instead of actually sending Dean to hell. Though I was wary of Sam being in a mental instutition, I liked the way you ended it with him getting better and having Dean and Bobby back in his life. In the other story, I like that you let Dean live and actually made Ruby useful instead of the b***h she was on the show. Loved the brotherly moments of course and loved how Bobby was there for both of them. Both of these stories were great and can't wait to read more of your fics. Author's Response: Hey, Laina, This was the story that kicked me above the radar. I'd been flying quite happily beneath most peoples' notice until this one. And quite truthfully, I can't figure out what it is about the story that has caught everyone's attention so strongly. Because when I sent the first two chapters to my beta, I was convinced it wouldn't work. When she emailed me straight back begging (actually, demanding, come to think of it) for more, that was when I decided not to shelve it and kept writing. At the time I wasn't sure about Ruby. I didn't know if she was up to something, or was just a smart-arse who was on the boys' side for a change. When she seemed truly concerned for Dean at the end of the Malleus Maleficarum, I thought perhaps I'd been wrong - but should have known better. Demons lie. And of course, I had to do this from an outsider's point of view, otherwise it would have given my plot away - lol. Thanks so much for reading both stories. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 18/04/12 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 This was just too perfect. I wish the show had had scenes of Sam at Standford and of Dean going to check on him. I love this story. Author's Response: Thanks, Laina, The Stanford years have always intrigued me, especially given Dean's comment in the pilot about having left Sam alone for two years. I've quite often wondered just what happened to have that complete break. And then of course, when Dean told Sam in Bugs that John had been by to check on him, I just naturally thought that Dean had as well - and he wouldn't have let Sam's first Christmas away from home go by without at least a drive-by visit. Glad you enjoyed this. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 18/04/12 Title: Chapter 9: Epilogue I so love them. This story rocked. You wrote Sam's visions very well. Loved Dean's reaction to the visions and of course I loved the boys trying to keep each other safe. Didn't care for that Elizabeth jerk. Dean should have shot her or something, 'cause nobody gets away with calling Sammy a freak. Glad that they were able to defeat the demon and that the brothers and Ellen ended up okay in the end. Any chance I could persuade you to write another fic with the brothers and that Elizabeth jerk and have her killed off? Sorry, I just don't like anyone who is mean to my Sammy. :) Author's Response: Thank you, Laina, I had toyed with the idea of bringing Elizabeth back, in company with another hunter, for revenge on Sam over Geoffrey's death. But it's still just a vague idea lurking in the back of my freaky brain. And don't apologise - I consider myself a Dean girl, but I don't like anyone being mean to Sammy either. The whole Gordon hunting Sam storyline almost made me ill. This was one of those weird happenstances - it started out as a very short one-shot. A missing scene or tag to Born Under A Bad Sign, which at the time I hadn't seen because Australia was way behind in episodes and I wasn't up with the downloading thing at the time. I bugged a fellow Aussie fan to tell me at least a snippet of what had happened in the episode because my tag depended on certain assumptions being correct. Anyway, I finally got to see the eppy, tweaked the tag a little, and then sat on it like a hen on an egg. And little by little, I realised I could make a full-length story out of it if I padded it out a little. So here it is. The original one-shot, trimmed and edited very little to fit in with the whole story, is mainly in the scene of Sam's breakdown by the side of the road. And the first line of the one-shot is in the final scene of Geoff's death, when Dean closes the journal and the wind dies down, and all they can hear is Elizabeth crying. Funny how a story evolves. So stoked that you enjoyed my hammering Sam into the ground - LOL. Jules Summary:

Also loved that Sam liked the girl afterwards. This was a great story. Author's Response: Hi, Laina, Sorry for the late replies - things have been crazy of late. Ah, so glad you loved the kissing scene. I wrote this for a friend of mine who wanted a kissing scene with Sammy, so I built the whole fair thing around it. And of course, it was so much fun to embarrass poor Sam like that - lol. I'm just evil at times. Thanks so much for reading. Jules Summary:

Love when Dean lets his guard down enough to show Sam how much he actually cares. :) *Grins* *Favorites* Off to read more of your stories. Author's Response: Thanks, Laina, Funny enough, this story had its ending written first. The whole stone-skipping and heart-to-heart scene was the first thing down on paper. I then had to go back to the beginning and get them to the creek - LOL. It was a bit of a challenge writing up to that part, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I'd done it. But it was fun having the three major characters wandering all over the side of the hill in different directions, and making sure they didn't cross paths - lol. My beta was actually invaluable to me on this one, helping me come up with a solid enough reason for Bobby to abandon the search for Sam without trying to find his body. So glad you loved this little effort. Jules Summary:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 17/04/12 Title: Chapter 9: Epilogue I loved this story. The way you write the boys, you're just so darn good at it. You had me going when Dean went into the motel room that was in flames. But then I remembered that one of your rules is that you don't write death fics, and that made me breathe a little easier, lol. You write very good stories. They are well though-out and very well written and you are officially one of my favorite authors. Author's Response: Thank you for that. Sorry I fell behind a bit in the reviews - we've had a death in the family, and the last couple of weeks have been a bit all over the place. Ah, yes, Dean rushing into the burning motel - I had been planning that right from the beginning of the story. Actually, that scene, the St Christopher medal for Sam's birthday, Sam tackling the ghost hunt on his own and getting in over his head, and the little scene where Sam's tracking Dean and Dean sneaks out and yanks him back by the hood of his jacket - they were all in my original idea and outline. Originally I'd planned to have the hoodie yanking scene in the actual haunted house, but as I got stuck into the story in earnest, I couldn't actually fit it in, so it progressed to the alley instead. Sometimes writing for me is a bit of a chess game - I know the end result, but then I have to work out the strategy to get the tale there. Thanks so much for reading - I'm glad you loved this one. We caught glimpses of how Dean was not dealing with his grief, and how Sam was simply trying to carry on like the good little soldier he'd never wanted to be, desperately trying to make amends. And it was really the start of the fracturing between the brothers that finally reached its highest point in season four. Author's Response: I had the idea for this while my auntie and I were away on a short holiday, but with one laptop between us, I just picked at the general outline until we got back home. But I wanted to showcase the hunter skills of both boys, and what better way to do it than to separate them and have one hunted. I thought at the time that Sam's skills had been a bit under-estimated by some fanfic writers, and of course Dean's tracking talents are always a joy to behold. And poor old Don was always destined to die in the story, like a red-shirted security guard in the original Star Trek - lol. But I had fun with the bit of misdirection at first, until it was revealed that Don's assailants were definitely not our beloved boys. And of course, the ending was fun as well, with poor Dean having to put up with the eyes - ROFL. And it was a nice trip down memory lane to play with season one boys again. Jules Summary:

The only thing I can say is that you are awesome. You are one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of your stories. I'm almost through your whole list on this sit and I hope you feel up to and get a chance to write more fics soon, because I can't wait to read what else you have swimmin' around in your mind. Rating: 10 *Favorites* Author's Response: Oh, my goodness, you tackled the monster! That's quite a feat - this was a beast to write, and ended up way over my original estimate of nine chapters...*shakes head*... When we hit about thirteen chapters, I think, we started a betting pool between the co-authors and beta, as to what the final word count was going to be. Petra won the jelly beans, as I recall. I was way off. Thank you very, very much. We slaved, sweated blood, and just about sold our souls for this fic. It took eight months, and that wasn't just a few hours here and there - there was hardly a day that went by when we weren't planning, researching, writing, actioning the beta notes, shooting emails back and forth about facts, scenes, dialogue, etc. It consumed us. But it was worth it. I think all three of us collapsed in a little heap at the end when the final chapter was ready for posting - and when we did post it, our beta was here with us in Oz on holiday, so we all crammed into my little home office and cracked open a bottle of red wine to toast the completion of the story. So from both Petra and me, thank you so much for motoring your way through this epic, and we are so very glad that you enjoyed the ride. Jules & Petra |
