I've just turned half century old and have lived in Nottingham, UK all my life.

I do not consider myself a writer, in my heart I prefer to beta / edit and have done lots of that over the years. But now with Supernatural and this wonderful website I have been inspired and encouraged to try putting pen to paper.

I may never manage to fill this space with more than a single drabble but I will never forget the thrill of getting my first review. Thank you.

Now if anyone wants me to beta for them, please remember I live in the UK and I hate spoilers. I'm also not keen on crossover stories or those that are pure romance, unless of course it is the twisted supernatural kind. That said I love bouncing ideas around and am quite happy to try working with anyone.

Favourite line: "‘I’m definitely thinking with my downstairs brain – Need to focus here!’" So very Dean even if it was Sam that thought it. And I love that Dean has his knife even if Jim is uncomfortable with it.

It goes without saying, I'm enjoying this story immensely.

You are just so wicked. Poor poor Terri. You may not have been able to keep her as 'love interest' but did she have to die? Couldn't she have just been revolted by Sam's job enough to take her out of the equation? But no I guess not.

Author's Response:

Awww Midge- come on- the girl just has to die in these things- doesnt she? LOL... And poor Sam- so focused on finding his brother- he didnt need the distraction... heehee

Actually- let's face it- I'm just evil and was just looking for a reason ( or person) for DemonSherrifSimansky to slaughter... and I just love GuiltySam0 LOL

Thanks so much for dusting off this one and reading it...

Thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you.

Just sorry it has taken me so long to find it. I suppose I can thank it on season 4. I'm desperately trying to avoid season 4 spoilers but still want to enjoy the site, so I decided old stories were the way to go.

Thanks again Tree for this story and all your work on the site.

Even the threat of shattering glass falling on the boys doesn't feel half as horrific as the barbed wire and shotgun blast of the previous chapter. You're going to have to do better if you want another 'OMG' and stunned me.

Enjoying all the fighting, angst and speed of the action.

It may be one of your early posts Tree, but no grammar errors have dropped me out of the story, well done.

Found this when looking for a story I read ages ago. This doesn't resemble to story I was hunting for at all, but boy am I glad I took a peek. Just love this opening chapter and I am so in the mood for some Dean 'whumping'. Gordon was such a great character than I can't wait to read more.

Lucky me I just have to click next rather than wait for an update. Oh sometimes I just love old stories for just that reason.

I think I was wrong thinking this story was Dean 'whumpage' more like Sam 'whumpage' and Dean 'angst'. Great all the same. And I don't want to think of more to say, just want to go read more so I'll see you after chapter 3.

Author's Response:

Give it time.... Plenty of Whumpage to go around... glad you found it and glad you like it... - but I'll apologize ahead of time.... this is one of the first stories I ever wrote in the fandom... it was never beta'd... so sorry for all the bad structure and grammar... hope you enjoy it nonetheless! Thanks Midge!

Phew, everyone is still alive. The boys back together and not damaged too much. But for a moment there I thought Sam had killed Gordon, but I should have known better.

I loved this story and I am now sure that the worst bit was Sam tied up with barbed wire, and the best bit was, well its a tie between Dean beating Gordon in a knife fight and Sam shooting Gordon to save his brother.

Well done Tree on a great story. You can certainly write.

Author's Response:

Thanks sooo much Midge... I'm glad you enjoyed the story ( hope you found the one you were actually looking for - LOL). Glad the barbed wire was suitably nasty for you- that means I struck a chord... and likewise- happy that you also liked the fight between Gordon and Dean... ( somehow I always thought it was going to come down to that between them- even though it didnt quite in the show). Oddly enough, I never though Sam would kill him... but then- who'd have thought that Gordon would become a vamp? Ah well... I didnt have my crystal ball when writing this story.

again- Thanks so much for your kind reviews and for taking the time to read one of my earliest stories.

I will be back to read more, very soon.

I thought I'd read this story from start to finish, but as I reread it, I'm realising that maybe I never got beyond the first few chapters - Why? I have no idea but I'm here now and intend to stay the course.

Not sure which Winchester I feel most sorry for, Sam being manhandled away from Dean by Ian, or Dean left standing in a shop doorway and no one noticing. Shopping malls/centres are scary enough places to lose someone as an adult,  but to be a child left in one must be down right terrifying and that's without a monster stealing your little brother. You certainly have a knack for upping the tension.

Author's Response: Hey welcome back!  I'm glad you remembered me anyway!  Yes, I was a bit nasty to the poor boys in this chapter.  It can only get worse - I mean better...!

Oh you just have to love Dean, playing little boy lost to perfection in the mall, and even more for his big breezy return to Ian's home.

Author's Response: I can really imagine Dean as a little smartass at this age.  Some things don't change when you hit thirty!  Glad you're still enjoying!

Long and interesting chapter. I'm guessing Dean and Ian bonding is the calm before the storm. I wonder just how Ian plans to help Dean save Sam. Somehow I think it could just involve him threatening Dean's life somehow.

Author's Response: Yes, that was a very long chapter!  Well done for sticking with it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this. It was a really well constructed and entertaining story with a happy ending. Sam and Dean both happy to be  back with their Dad - that definitely constitutes a happy ending in my book.

Author's Response:

Well I only do happy endings!  Seriously, if the show ends how Jared wants it to I'll be mightly POed!!

Thanks for sticking with this to the end!  I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

Nice work and I love the idea of a ghostly Dean still kicking butt.

And I absolutely loved Randall & Hopkirk, especially the original. The concept was just so funny, Randall talking to himself all the time. Enjoyed the remake too, shame it was such a short series.

Gaelic, you may have wanted to cry and found it draining writing this chapter but you did an awesome job.  I'll be back after work to read some more of this wonderful story.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, midge! This was my first fanfic... ever. It was actually the first story I ever managed to complete, too. So, I was surprised when writing it I found myself also reacting to what I was writing.

I've learned a lot about storytelling since this one, but it will always hold a special place in my heart. As will these characters. Regardless of where I go, I will always want to return to the Winchesters... :)

Back from work. Devoured the rest of this story - and what a wonderful story it is/was. Well done.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for reading and especially for taking time to review! These comments from you are wonderful to get -- to know that you were entertained. It's the only reason I write.

Well, no, that's not true. I also write because... well, it's fun to escape into this world... and into these characters...

But the bigger reason is to entertain. :) I swear. *cough*

I read this without realising its length and can only say it had my glued to the monitor from start to finish.  I read it all in one afternoon and evening and was sad when I reached the end. In fact since then I've been back and reread most of it.

I absolutely loved seeing Abe & co react to the boys without having any knowledge of their lives, and the flashbacks to their childhood were inspired.

I will definitely be reading more of your work but will be paying attention to the word count in order to make the enjoyment last longer.

 Well done and thank you.

Author's Response:

Midge -- thank you so much for this. This story is one of my favorites, and I have another plotted out that will return Abe to the brothers. I enjoyed writing him.

This was also the first time I tried writing John's "voice" -- he's a hard character for me for purely personal angst reasons, so I had to... kinda ease into writing him. Start out with flashbacks and end with the epilogue.

I hope that you do choose to read more of my stories, but I'll say that I tend to be rather wordy. All of my multi-chapter stories are lengthy as are my one-shots. I just have trouble doing "short" -- so I hope that doesn't deter you from reading in the future.

Thanks so much for spending time with me and I hope to see you again.

Slainte,

Just wanted to tell you, that I love this story so much, I've printed it out (got it down to 86 pages with a bit of juggling of the formating!) so that I can keep it and reread it again and again curled up in bed.

I am soooooo looking forward to meeting Abe and co again somewhere down the line.

Author's Response:

Aw, Midge! Thanks so much! What a pleasant surprise first thing in the morning to get this comment. I love knowing that you re-read it. That put a huge smile on my face.

Abe will be back soon. I have a few other writing committments to complete, but the story he's returning in is outlined, and as soon as I can, I'm going to start it. It will be called "In the Light" -- keeping with the Led Zeppelin tradition, dontcha know. ;)

Thanks again and take care.

Slainte,

Gaelic

Having just read your latest offering in this series, I thought I'd pop and reread how it all began.

I have to say I had forgotten what a selfish b.....d Sam was. How could he turn his back on his brother for so long and apparently so completely without a backward glance. Definitely glad you have them back together, but if I'd been Dean I don't think I could have forgiven Sam so easily!
