Date: 18/08/07 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Great peek into the lives of Sam and Jess, including Sam's secrecy about his family. Thank you! This idea just wouldn't leave me alone. I've wondered how Sam's silence about his family would have affected his relationship with Jess. We don't really know much about her, but she didn't seem the type to let Sam get away with silence without a good reason. :) Summary: Missing scene from WIAWSNB. Set between Sam finding Dean and their little heart to heart in the motel room. I needed more HC and brother moments than the ep gave me.

Hey...*hands over tissues*....sorry about that. I had my co-author in tears, too, when she read the first draft. And yes, the story just was never complete without the flashbacks. They added so much poignancy to the final version. I think we saw Dean absolutely shatter that night. And wondering what he did during that twenty-four hours after Sam died was an itch that I just had to scratch. Thanks so much for reading and letting me know what you thought. Brothers need to talk about the important events in their lives... like when Dean thinks he might be a dad with an eight-year old son, maybe Sam would like to know about it.
The pain in his gut deepened as Sam faced more of Dean's sacrifice and self-denial. Once again Dean wanted for Sam what he refused to acknowledge he deserved for himself. Sam didn't know what to say to ease Dean's pain so he offered his brother the only truth he knew.
