Hi

Well, I figured it was time I put something up on my profile...

My name is Jane I live and work in the UK just outside London, in Essex. I'm a 45 year old mum to two beautiful teenage daughters. I work term times as a Learning Support Assistant at an adult college, supporting 16 - 19 year old mechanics with both literacy and numeracy - which I have done for the last five years, (I'm getting pretty good at fixing my car by now as a bonus). It is a job which I love dearly. We have an insane border collie called Gypsy and two rabbits and three guinea pigs.

Before becoming a mum, I spent fourteen years in the British Womens Royal Naval Service as a communicator (Radio Operator), where I met and married my soon to be ex-husband. I loved every moment of my naval career and it gave me the opportunity to try many wonderful and exciting activities (rifle shooting, abseiling, adventure camps, canoeing, orienteering, survival courses, first aid and expedititon leadership to name but a few).

I have been writing Supernatural fiction for about nine months, but have been reading, betaing and reviewing for about a year and a half. I moderate on The Vaults Forum (SPNV) and am an Admin on the Everything Supernatural Forum, where I can be found under my other pename IMPALADREAMS.  I have many stories in the pipeline but time constraints, as ever, get in the way. They will all, hopefully, get finished eventually.

Writing is something I have always wanted to do, but until I discovered the world of Supernatural and fanfiction I have never had the confidence to go ahead and just do it. However, it has become a very important part of my life and I have made some wonderful friends through it - you know who you are guys!!  This wonderful Winchester World that we play in is one of my favourite forms of escapism, and both reading and writing in it has helped me through some really rough times over the last year or so.

I meet up about 4/5 times a year with a small group of similarly obsessed Supernatural fans at the Hilton Paddington.  We get together for laptop screensaver idolisation, general lusting over the boys (Dean in particular), quizzes/competitions and total Supernatural Saturation.  It's great fun and if anyone is living in the UK or visiting at the time of our meets (dates posted up on the Vaults) we would love to see you there.  It's small, friendly and great fun.

I am totally devoted to Supernatural (even when the story arc is getting so dark) and I love both the boys, but am definately a Dean girl. I love reading and writing hurt, angsty Dean and caring, sharing Sam.

I co-wrote The Twelve Saves of Christmas - which was posted on here by birdie. We are currently working on the follow on story (a much darker fic) entitled, To My Brother I Am Bound.   I have recently joined the E/O drabble challenge over on Fanfiction and am discovering a whole new way of writing.

So that's about it for starters. Thanks for reading. Jane

I've been trying so hard to save this story till it was finished but the temptation was just too great.  'Angels' was such a fantastic story and I loved the new characters so much, it was a real treat to be reunited with Jax again!!  Jax reminds me a little of a naughty puppy just wanting to be loved, but not knowing how to make things right.

What a first chapter, poor Sam, if only he knew who was out there waiting for him.  Dean never could understand that his death would be as hard for Sam to take as he knew Sam's was for him.  Your description of Sam's mental anguish is just so heartwrenching.

Now I've got to resist reading all 10 chapters in one go and staying up till it's time for work!!  Loving the story, Thanks.  Jane

Ahhh, Jax is just so adorable, I think he's really starting to grow on Sam now, he's definately growing on me!!

Uncovering the mystery behind his suicide attempt was such a brave thing to do, to try and ease Sams' pain.  The effect of such a tragedy is so hard to comprehend, it kind of makes childhood Winchester style, suddenly so much more appealing.

At least Sam's utter desolation seems to have lifted a little'  If he can't have Dean, then I guess Jax is the next best thing.  Lovin the story.  Jane

A thoroughly gripping start, the build up of tension and panic was intense.  Sam's constant anger at John and his terror at the thought of losing Dean were such an accurate insight into what Sam would have gone through.  Beautifully done.  J

Author's Response:

Thank you for your kind review, I was really happy that you thought my version of Sam at this time was accurate. I was debating if I had done a little too much "John bashing". But I kept coming back to that line from John; if Sam left he should "stay gone". How could you not get hurt by that?  The Winchester's world is one big irony to Sam, what other families would be celebrating and throwing parties for, his family marginalizes or considers selfish. They really aren't the Brady's are they?!!!

Thanks again for taking the time to read and review. Abi.

Poor Dean's in a really bad way, it's great to see Sam taking charge and keeping that overwhelming panic at bay.  I loved Sam going psycho on his new neighbours, all semblance of being civilised out the window when Dean's health is at stake.  Just off to the next chapter.  J.

Author's Response:

Wow, I have just realized that you have read and reviewed each chapter, thanks for that ... sorry end of night shift, brain at half mast!!

Yeah I kind of like take charge Sammy too - it's refreshing to see Dean being cared for, for a change... even if I did have to knock him unconscious for it to happen!!!

You've really captured the terror and horror in Dean's flashback, somehow there's such a sense that it's all gone horribly wrong without Sam's presence.  I love the humour (particularly the joining a daemon worshipping cult line) amidst all the pain, suffering and angst.  I'm very much looking forward to the next one.  Thanks  J.

Author's Response:

*Grins* I am really happy the humour worked, I love Dean's snarkyness (new word fit for a Dean!). You hope that when you are trying to capture it, you aren't going overboard or missing the mark completely.

When I imagine the Stanford years for Dean I always see a black hole. Sam was part of a small, tight knit unit, with his brother and his father; they must each have had their role to play. John and Dean strike me as shoot first types in comparison to Sam, and I am sure they suffered for the lack of his influence on hunts.

So enough with the deep meaningful psycho-babble, I am just thrilled you are enjoying this and look forward to hearing your thoughts on Chapter four!!!!

Abi.

Oh no, I guess this is where it starts to get really painful, in more ways than one!  Dean was never going to fit in comfortably at Stanford but I never saw Sam and Dean facing off against each other, coming.  I just can't see Dean being able to really lay into Sam, or vice versa, either way there's some major guilt on its way.

I loved the way they both met Jessica, nicely done and the Dirty Dancing coment was priceless!!

Very much looking forward to the next chapter, although I think it's going to make me sad to see them fight.  We know the separation is coming and it's bound to be brutal.   For Dean to drive away and leave Sam to his new life, something pretty drastic is going to have to happen, so I guess we're not in for a happy ending on this one.   Loving the Story.  Jane

Author's Response:

As always really happy to see this worked for you, thanks for letting me know which parts in particular. I couldn't resist the Jessica part, as there is just something about Dean's reaction to her in the pilot that hints at something a little more than Dean being Dean with the ladies.

I agree the bond the boys share make this time, and the separation even more difficult, Sam is struggling without Dean, but when big brother comes back and needs him he is willing to give up all the inroads he has managed to make...  i.e. friendships with Owen and Thomas.

Really happy you’re enjoying this and always appreciate hearing what you think.

I loved the images of the gurgling one year old, and Sam's first word.... Deen.  I guess that made it kind of hard for Dean to keep up his levels of anger quite enough to fight Sam.  I almost felt sorry for the football team, two p....d off Winchester needing to blow off steam, not really a fair fight!!  Kyle seemed a decent enough sort though, typically generous gesture on Sams' part, ever the peacemaker, letting the fight end, saying he'd lost.

That anger's still bubbling below the surface though, it's a sure sign of the turmoil Dean's going through that he hasn't returned his Dads' phone calls.

Now what's in this letter that's just arrived, doesn't sound too good!  Please update soon, we need to know!  Thanks.  Jane

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review Jane, and the shiny stars!!!:-)

I was actually worried about how this chapter would be taken as so many people  thought it would definitely come to blows, and though violence was in the air I could not bring it to bear directly on the boys. In my story it has only been three months and not two years of separation, they still have that strong link that has probably saved their lives repeatedly. So yes the anger is still there, the betrayal for Dean is enormous and the Football team got caught in the fallout ... though to Dean's credit, he did try to warn them.

I am glad you liked baby Sam, I was quite pleased with that part. Dean knows he raised Sam, he may not say it but his every action shows it. Thank you for your thoughts, they kind of help me to see what is working and what isn't.

All will be revealed with the letter. I am having techno troubles with my computer but aim to find new and inventive ways round that!!!:-)

Dean baring his soul to Sam, in a last ditch attempt to bring him home and failing must have been a punishing blow to him.  To still go to the Dean, in secret, to try put things right for Sam shows with heartbreaking clarity the self sacrifice that Dean will make for his little brothers happiness.

Don't worry about any lack of action here, Dean sparing with 'the Dean' was plenty action enough, there's also so much emotion at work here, not to mention the humour, a lovely chapter that brought tears to my eyes!!

Author's Response:

Thank you for your kind review and reassurance that this chapter wasn't lacking action. It was really helpful to find what worked for you - and the fact that this chapter had that effect on you has me grinning like a mad thing!! Writing this was challenging, it is the final straw for the boys and hopefully is believable enough to account for the break down in their relationship ... well on Sam's part at least. There is nothing (in my opinion ) that Dean would not forgive his brother, or try to make right for him; even if the answer is his absence from Sam's life. He really is an awesome Big Brother!!;-)

Well, first off, what a delight to log on and find a new story alert from one of my favourite authors - it must be Christmas!!

Then OMG what visions you have given us in this one.  Poor Dean, beaten, drugged, manacled in a cage and chained naked to the floor, my days, it really must be Christmas!!....lol

Then, what they did at the end with those scissors and shaver just doesn't bear thinking about - you warned that this was a dark one, I get the feeling the boys are in for a really rough ride.  Please update soon, I sooo need to know how Deans' taken this latest trauma!!

Totally gripping start,  Thanks Jane

Author's Response: hey janger...awww...you make me blush!! glad to know you like my stories!! yeah, i really put Dean through a lot in the first chappy, didn't i?? lol, yeah, cut off his hair, poor guy! thanks so much for reading! bambers;)

I just love Dean's dialogue with himself and his future plans for 'the Father', that cutting snark covering all his inner fears and insecurities.  You've painted such a vivid picture of that horrid cell/dungeon and put Dean into the most appalling situation, I imagine things are not going to start improving anytime soon.....lol

At least Sam's on the case now, great comment from Sam about the barlady giving Dean her phone number.  Keeping the humour amidst the horror, it's what we love.  off to the next one.  J

Oh dear, the pain, the cold, the thirst, the humiliation, the hunger, the fear all starting to take their toll now.  It's alarming to see how the brainwashing utilises so many techniques to break someone, playing on insecurities to find a way in.  Scary stuff!!

Your description of that icy bucket of water made me shiver, I had to go and turn up the heating.

Dean's gradual descent as confusion sets in is so sad.  I'm really not liking 'the Father', I dread to think what John would do to him if he caught up to them.  I just hope that CCTV was working.  Great chapter.  J

OMG, so much for Sam's great rescue, he did so well tracking them down, then it all went horribly wrong.  I'm getting worried about Sammy's hair now,  surely you wouldn't shave that off too now, would you?  Or are they just dumping Sam somewhere?

Either way they;re in big trouble!!  Love the story.  J

Author's Response: lol...yeah, Sam's rescue didn't go over well at all!!! lol, Sammy bald?? never think it, if you know me you know i love his hair way too much for that to happen!! thanks for reading!! bambers;)

Oh, not the shaver again, just when I was imagining a nice weeks worth of stubble.....lol.  Curly deserved what he got, he was enjoying himself far too much.

The mirror was a particularly cruel and effective torture.  Totally surpassed however, by the hooks and rigging, (ouch), what a place to leave Dean dangling over Christmas!!

Thank you for this riveting story, I can hardly wait for the next chapter, but I hope you and yours have a wonderful, relaxing Christmas and New Year.  Thank you for all your stories throughout the year, I have loved every one.  Jane

Author's Response: lol...yeah, it seems as if everyone is in agreement that Curly deserved what he got....yeah, think Dean couldn't stand seeing himself looking like that, probably worse than anything else i could've done to him. thanks for reading and have a great Christmas!! bambers;)

Ouch!!  Poor Sam, five days in a coma, ruptured spleen and memory loss, I think that's all gonna look like Happy Days when he gets where he's going.....I dread to think what state Dean's in by now.  Well, at least Bobby's on the scene, perhaps he'll have a better chance of rescuing the boys.

Thank you for the extra update before Christmas, now instead of just worrying about Dean hanging around, I can worry about the pair of them and which one the Father will decide to end - although I know you'd never do that to us....lol!!

Have a lovely Christmas, I'll be looking out for the next chapter. Thanks again, ever hopeful.  Jane

Oh, is there no end to this wicked man's torturous repertoire?  He takes the term 'control freak' to a whole new dimension!.....lol.  He certainly knows all the right buttons to press to get inside their heads.  At least there's no sign of the clippers, I can't see you letting Sam off too easily though!!  Thanks for the update.  Jane

OMG, the thought of spending Christmas with Charlie's inspiration is truly scary!!  However, I feel you may have taken your horror at the thought of it out on Dean here....lol.  Wow, this was really intense, from the excruciating physical pain, to the total psychological breakdown and loss of all hope.

I still can't believe that under it all Dean's been completely broken, I would have to volunteer to help put him back together!!

Well, I'm so pleased you had a reprieve from your in-laws, I've had mine staying here for the last week, never mind, they're off tomorrow morning!!  Thanks for the fast updates, it's been lovely seeing the update alerts, even if I didn't get a chance to review till tonight.

Poor Dean, I thought things were getting a little better, albeit in a totally defeated, brainwashed sort of way, but now he's been branded and didn't even get to have a shower!!....lol.  He really needs to know that Sammy is there and was trying to save him, he so needs a little bit of hope about now.

At least Shannon's appearance has triggered off a surge of defiance, but how much more can he take??  Couldn't you leave him with just a little bit of stubble??

Hope you had a great Christmas.  Jane

Ouch, I think it might have been less painful to chop his hair off, rather than give him this radical manicure!!  (Not really an option I guess?)  This was really brutal, I don't suppose there's any chance that Dean got to hear his screams, manages to escape and rescues Sam before they break his fingers?...lol.

This story is so nerve-wracking, the cliffhangers are killing me.  Keep up the good work.  Jane

Oh no, poor Dean, I hope to goodness there's enough of him to put back together after all he's been through.  Thank heavens Bobby's taken control of the situation and given John a piece of his mind, about time he got himself into gear.  Nothing like a mightily riled John to get things moving!!

Another great update.  Jane

Author's Response: hey jane! thanks so much for reading!! yeah, Dean is in pretty bad shape and it is gonna be a long road back from here for him. lol, always a good thing when Bobby takes charge of a situation!! figure at this point the only one left to save the boys is John and he mighty pissed!! thanks so much for reading and reviewing, it means the world to me!! bambers;)

Oh, it's wonderful news that there's loads more to come, I'm delighted we're going to get to read how you put them back together.

This use of drugs by the Father is another truly scary example of just how twisted and wicked he is - you write these characters so well!!.....lol.  LSD I've heard of, that was a wonderful description of the effects, I kind of felt the leprachauns had come to rescue Sam at the end there, but I've never heard of a speedball, it sounds pretty horrendous though.

Looking forward to lots of new chapters, all your stories draw me in so completely, it's always a delight to get an alert when new chapters are posted.  Thanks.  Jane

Oh no, poor Sam, if anything could break his spirit is would be the belief that Dean could do something like this to him, to cause him pain and humiliate him.  That Father is one cruel, sadistic, manipulative SOB.

At least it looks as though Dawn has managed to break free of the Fathers spell and has permission to stitch and tend him.  Hopefully, without the continual drug feed, Sam might start to come round and realise that it wasn't Dean torturing him but another of the Fathers' tricks.  At least I hope it was really the Father!!

Reading the description of Dean whipping Sam was really traumatic, it felt so wrong to think that Dean had been so totally brainwashed and de-humanized that he could ever act in that way against his Sam.

I hope John and Bobby are starting to get their acts together, is it nearly time for the cavalry to arrive?? lol.  Thanks for a great update, looking forward to the next one.  Jane
