Hi there!

This story was very interesting! The way you described Bobby's state of mind was very moving and accurate. I was just nagging about it with your friend (Jules, she directed me here), I said that it bother me that Bobby left Dean alone, so I really liked what you wrote about that.

I also liked the fact that you presented Sam's point of view, and how desperate he felt when he figure out what Dean was going to do.

Great story! :)

Hi there!I am loving your "missing scenes"! Dean's thoughts, memories, attitude, everything so accurate. I am so glad you describe Dean's tormented thoughts After the devil's deal, because, after all, he is a hunter and he knew what was coming for him and his brother, the doubt, the guilt, the pain. Also, I love that you pay attention to the little details!! for example, when Sam sees Dean and looks relieved, and that leads Dean to question if Sammy thought he would never see Dean again...Why did Dean made the deal? I think you depicted this very well with your killer line "This was the child he'd raised; the teenager he'd fought with, the man he'd fought beside".

(now, regarding the episode itself.., something will forever bother me, why did Bobby left Dean alone?? I would never understand that!!, I know that maybe the writers decided that it was for the sake of the story or whatever, but Arghhhh it just bothers me!! lol )

Anyways, great story!

Author's Response:

Hi there back! My goodness, you are hoovering up all the little one-shots, aren't you? LOL.

Thank you, Paloma. I'm glad you love this missing scene. It just bugged me - and my co-author - what Dean did during that time between Sam dying and coming back to life. So we filled in the blanks to satisfy that little itch.

Another awesome story that covers this time period, is Rage Against The Storm, by Catchme21 - it's on this site, actually. Here's the link - not sure if it will work, I'm a bit technologically challenged, but here goes: http://www.supernaturalville.net/viewstory.php?sid=564

But you can find it by clicking on Authors, then selecting C, and finding catchme21 in the list. Kristen has some great stories in her list. She's well worth a read.

Details - lol. Had to chuckle at that. The only other time I co-authored with someone was with my very good friend Cookie6 on Here At The End Of All Things - our monster work. And I sort of drove her crazy with my attention to detail - "No, we can't use that information because it's from an episode after we deviated from canon." lol.

As for Bobby leaving....I know the writers did it for the sake of the dramatic storyline, but were this world real, I'd like to think that Bobby realised that he just wasn't going to get through to Dean at that time. I don't think Bobby was abandoning Dean to his fate or anything like that. I just think that Bobby could see just how close to the edge Dean was in regard to unreasonable behaviour, and rather than risk pushing Dean too hard and having the boy turn away from him completely, he left, very reluctantly, and probably prayed that when Dean had time to absorb the shock of Sam's death, he would come to Bobby for help.

Hope that makes sense.

Anyway, thank you very much once again, and I'm thrilled that you loved this one.

Take care,

Jules

LOL Yes I think I am enjoying this fanfic stuff a little too much lol I just keep finding stories (good and bad ones) and is great! The link you sent me works fine, I had no problem with it, I'm going to read it! Thanks!!

On the Bobby subject, yeah, I understand what you're saying, and after all, even if Bobby had stick around, he wouldn't be able to prevent the deal from happening, I mean, who could ever stop Dean from doing what he feels he has to do??

Author's Response:

Hope you enjoyed Kristen's story. She's got another one in her collection that's a firm favourite of mine - and there is one particular scene which never fails to make me chuckle madly at the vivid and hilarious image she paints with her words.

It's called Frostbite - here's the link: http://www.supernaturalville.net/viewstory.php?sid=1031

I won't spoil you any more about the story, but I hope that you like that one as well.

And yes, you're right - who could ever persuade Dean not to do anything....unless it was Sam, and he wasn't around to tell Dean what a bad idea selling his soul was. But then we'd have lost Sammy forever...*sigh*...don't those boys just break your heart?

I had never NEVER read fanfics before, NEVER, I was reluctant to do it, and today I thought I give it a try, and read one of your stories, now I've just finished #3 (Bricks in the wall, Fractured and Broken Images) ..., needless to say I am a big fan of the show, and you've capture it's escence: the brothers and their bond.

I really like your style, you can describe a scene with just a few lines, the stories develop quick and they just keep the reader hooked. I am looking forward to read more of your stuff.

Author's Response:

Wow...what awesome feedback.

Welcome, both to the site, and to the wonderful and sometimes crazy world of fanfiction. I had never known it existed either, until a few years ago when I stumbled across another site while looking for pics of the show that I could make into a screensaver. A few months later I was trying my hand at it myself.

It's been an interesting four years, to say the least.

Thank you so much for your feedback and your kind words. I'm thrilled that you chose one of my stories to start with, and even more thrilled that you like my work so much. You have truly blessed me.

I hope that you have many enjoyable hours on this site.

Jules

This narrative was very insightful, detailed, and true to the characters, I loved it. I’ve always got the idea that the brothers do these little betrayals/lies to each other to protect one another, and they learned this from their dad. In this story, you portray Dean very accurately, he is thorn not because he killed Amy (practically in front of her son), but because he lied to his brother in the coldest of fashions, he even assured him “gotta start sometime”, and I get a feeling that that “sometime” is not near.  Loved your story. Thanks!

Author's Response:

Hi, again, Paloma,

Thank you ever so much. It was my intention for Dean to have a long, hard look at both their lives, and acknowledge, even if only in the privacy of his own thoughts, that the lies have come from both sides.

I've always considered myself a Dean girl (well, Dean woman) with a soft spot for Sammy, but over the past few seasons, I've found myself defending Sam against my beloved Dean a few times. There have been faults and wrong decisions, and lies, from both brothers. Add to that the interference from both angels and demons, determined to manipulate the Winchesters into their roles in the big apocalypse plan, and that's what split the brothers apart.

And yes, you're absolutely right - Dean's not torn by killing what he clearly saw as a monster and a threat, but the fact that he lied to Sam's face to do it. And he admitted that in a later episode, when he told Sam it never felt right lying to him.

Thank you once again for your wonderful review. I'm so glad you're enjoying my work.

Hopefully I'll have a new one soon.

Jules

Very interesting story! moving and heartbreaking. The thoughts of suicide were established since the beginning of the season, and you describe them very well, they are not logical because they are the result of psychological trauma or mental illness (I don't know which would be the appropriate term here), they don't make sense to Dean, but they make perfect sense to Sam. I also was glad you added the "I failed to save everyone" complex, I think it plays a very important part in Sam's actions, even in his suicide thoughts.

Author's Response: Thank you for such a nice review. I'm very glad you found it moving. I never heard that one before. Thanks for the review. ~Charity

Awesome story. I felt bad for Sam when Dean wouldn't talk about Bobby's possible death in 7.10 but at the same time I could understand why Dean acted that way. I love the way your story picks up on that, you understand what went on those boys heads and made a great story with it. I love the way it ended.

Author's Response:

Hi, Paloma,

Thank you! I'm very happy that you enjoyed it so much.

I felt for Sam in the episode, but I felt for Dean as well. Dean has never taken well to losing those he loves and considers family - just recall what lengths he's gone to to bring Sam back.

And Bobby was very much a father figure for both boys, so I've no doubt that his passing will leave a hole in their hearts almost as big as John did.

Dean holds on so tightly - his greatest fear, I think, is being the last one standing. I think it was heartbreaking the way he told Sam that they'd lost enough. I think Sam understood as well, even though he was trying to make Dean face the fact. I think he knew his big brother was struggling so hard to hold it together.

But wasn't Dean awesome in the way he confronted the leviathan? Pure hunter. There is only one supernatural entity Dean's truly afraid of, and that's the Horseman Death. (and hell's bells, I don't blame him!). I loved the way Dean challenged a creature that could kill him in seconds, and got right up in Dick's face to do it. And did you catch the way that smug smile faltered, just for a second? He knows the Winchesters are a threat.

Thank you so much, Paloma. I truly appreciate it, and I'm very happy you loved the story so much.

Take care,

Jules
