Date: 16/10/09 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I loved this one shot. I think it's my favorite of all the ones you've written lately. Very touching and I can feel the love between those boys. It comes throught loud and clear. I loved the paragraph of Dean's observations of the car Sam chose to drive. I actually loved that part of the episode as well. Sort of like a phase. I think the love is still there, but there is a lot of hurt and betrayal and fear to work through. But I took heart in the fact that once Dean was back, and away from Zachariah, he grabbed that mobile and called Sam, stating that he should have done it in the first place. He realised that they do need each other, that they are stronger together. I loved that line he said to Sam about how they keep each other human. So very true. The love was there between the brothers and it was felt throughout this whole chapter. I'm glad you let Sam put Matt in his place, too. He needed to do that!! Date: 19/12/09 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Another great chapter! Of course you never disappoint. I loved your mention of the spotlight on the side of the Impala. I miss those. It's a nice touch, but seems to be more exclusive to season 1&2. It's funny, I just sat and watch "What Is and What Should Never Be" last night so the quotes in this chapter we fresh in my mind. It made it more emotional to me. I love the emotion that Jensen brings to Dean. It's a favorite!! Also, Sam's brown hooded jacket is a Carthart jacket. I know because my son has one just like it. They are not cheap either. Sorry, just random. I look forward to your next chapter and I'm glad to know you are posting next week.God Bless, take care and Merry Christmas!!! Jane Author's Response: Jane, thank you! I always wondered what brand that jacket was - it looks so warm and comfortable. And Sam's had it a long time - I love it when it's trotted out for an airing. I actually found one of the Carhartt websites after I read your review, and it's got a pic of Sam from the end of 2.16 Roadkill wearing it. And I used that information in the Christmas fic I'm about to post up. I miss the spotties too - I wonder why they took them off. They were there at the beginning of S3, but then by S4 they'd disappeared. Actually, I'll have to check the screencaps to see if they were on at the end of S3 - Sam was using a torch (flashlight) in Ghostfacers, not the passenger side spotlight. So glad you're enjoying all the little quotes from the eppy - they're handy in keeping Dean off-balance, too - lol. I did have a very merry Christmas - hope you did too. Jules

Date: 29/12/09 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 I loved this one shot. It took me four days to read it, but I kept coming back to finish. Life and family kept me busy. Thank you for your acknowledgement to me for my help. It certainly wasn't my intention when I mentioned Sam's coat, but I am glad I could help you with a little research. You have no idea how much it meant to me that you used my information and then gave me credit for it. I now know how you writers feel each time someone gives you praise for your excellent work. It has changed my perspective. Thank you again. O.K., back to the story. I enjoyed the part where Dean gave his insight into Sam and how he is dealing with all that he has done. I believe that is what Sam is doing on the show, but to see it written out and it coming from Dean's pov gave it more meaning. I saw his love for his brother in just those few paragraphs. I also loved the line about the angel for the top of the tree and the present he brought. That was great and a perfect line for Dean. There are so many times when reading your story that I can picture Jensen or Jared saying them. You capture them so well. Sometimes things don't translate well across the pond, and I'm always grateful for tidbits of information that will help me out on a story. And I do so love that jacket of Sam's. It was nice to actually be given the manufacturer of it. I've actually used the reference again in Love Something's epilogue. I'm with you, too - I believe that Sam is suffering, and striving to make amends however he can, but he must be crumbling inside, the poor kid. How horrible to have been used like he was to open the door to Lucifer's cell. I couldn't help wondering whether Dean should have let Sam go after Lilith way before the breaking of the final seal, but then you throw damned Zachariah into the mix - he probably would have prevented it - Sam was doomed either way, wasn't he? And rightly or wrongly, I still think Dean loves his brother, he's just having a hard time pushing the anger aside. It must have cut him like no knife could that Sam chose Ruby. After all, Dean practically raised Sam - they're more than brothers. There's a lot of repair work to be done there, on both sides. That message has to be revealed, along with the fact that it was Castiel who let Sam out of the panic room. Under orders from his boss, but still..... So glad you loved the brotherly interaction though. I worked very hard to capture that. Jules Summary:

Date: 31/12/09 Title: Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Great start for this story!! I'm glad you tied up a few loose ends that have actually bugged me, too. The message on Sam's phone. I wish they would have brought that out in the show, and Ruby's car. You did a great job giving those closure. I doubt will see anything about Castiel letting Sam out of the panic room at this point, although it would be a great way for Lucifer to try and drive a wedge between Castiel and the boys. We'll see. Date: 08/01/10 Title: Chapter 1: Chapter 1 Hey Jules, you did it again. This was an awesome one shot. Words can't express how moved I was with your take on Bobby and his love for the boys. WOW!! just WOW!! I really liked that parts with him and Sam. Sometimes I think they are not as close as him and Dean, so seeing that in my head was satisfying. I oftened wondered what happened to John's truck. Thanks for closure on that, and I loved the way you had him think of him as Johnny. I made the two of them seem so much closer to each other than we ever saw on t.v. I hope you enjoy your break, but please don't make it to long. I'm with you - I didn't think Bobby felt the same way about Sam as he did about Dean, and it saddened me that Sam was sort of left out in the cold again. But then I really started to analyse it, and I wondered if perhaps Sam held himself back a little. Dean's really the only person whom Sam is completely comfortable with. Dean, for all his walls, is actually a little more approachable. Sam's locked down tight at times with other people, which is why the demons had to get Dean away from him for their plans to work. He's friendly, but he doesn't let people get too close to him. Whether that's just naturally Sam, or a fear borne out of his losses, I don't know. But it makes getting into his head an interesting exercise. I wondered about the truck for a long time, so this satisfied that question. And I could imagine John and Bobby being friends - well, until John did whatever he did to peeve Bobby off, resulting in that argument that ended with Bobby driving John off with a shotgun..... And we will definitely be chatting soon about that idea. Give me some time to clear the decks on a couple of little one-shots and then I'm all yours. Jules Summary:

A couple of hints made me wonder, but I really didn't know until you said it in the story. Your getting really good at these. I also enjoyed the story in the middle with Sam's friend Jody. Maybe because that's my oldest sons name and to see it in print was pretty cool. It's an usual name for a boy and on top of that you spelled it right(or at least how we spell it). I hope they cover that at some point because I feel it just wouldn't be right if they didn't. Thanks for writing this one shot. I was nice to see Dean feel some guilt over what he did. Not that I want him to suffer anymore than Sam, but I'm with you on some of the things he been doing lately. Not the Dean we've come to know. Especially when it comes to Sam. I really loved your flip scene of "Faith". Sam being the one dying and the doctor telling Dean the same as he told Sam was pretty cool. At first I thought you were just playing the same scene only flipped, until Sam made the comment about the fabric softener teddy bear. You are full of surprises, and some funny among the angst was a relief. Sorry to hear your bank folder is empty(yes I read everything) but I'm still here and still waiting to talk with you about my idea. Hope to hear from you soon, oh and I hope you'll write again soon. Jane Author's Response: Hi, Jane, It shocked me when I first saw that scene - I just felt it was so out of character for Dean to risk Sam's life like that. Then Trickie from SN.tv mentioned to me about Route 666, when Sam had that theory on how to beat the ghost truck, and I sort of got to thinking. It still strikes me as un-Dean-like, but I remembered that whenever Sam had a "hunch" we just accepted it and laughed at Dean's shocked reaction. I suppose what made it not quite so funny was the fact that they are still on shaky ground as far as their brotherly bond is concerned, and the fact that Dean still doesn't know - we assume - that his phone message was altered. Oh, you liked the mirroring of Faith? I didn't change it too much - pretty much kept the dialogue the same, apart from a couple of Dean's responses. But the doc's words were taken directly from the episode transcript. Thanks so much, and hopefully I'll chat to you in-depth soon about that little idea of yours...... Jules Summary:

Date: 27/02/10 Title: Chapter 7: Chapter 7 This is a great story and great idea!!! Certainly not one I have thought about, but everything here are things we've seen in the show and know they are a possibility. Combining them all is a great solution. I'm sorry Dean had to make the sacrifice, but Sam's not done yet I'm sure. You did say this was not a deathfic, so I'm counting on that. They are saying a major character will make a sacrifice in a suicide mission in the 100th episode. This would certainly make a great twist, and something for the characters to focus on till the end of the season. Who knows what Kripke has going on in his twisted mind. He loves to mess with us fans. I can't wait for you next update. I'm anxious to see what Sam's going to do now, because we all know he will do something no matter what Dean told him. Thank you, its one of those things that come to you and just flows, so glad you liked. Trying to link it to the show as much as poss. Definitely not a deathfic, I've already got his return planned. Where I've been....well, real life has not been playing nice for a long time. Two things: Your paragraph on Dean's thoughts about missing detox the first time because "someone" let Sam out early. Yes, that bugs me as much as you and I love how you through that in there. Also, Dean's description of how he sees his brother in that paragraph was sweet and spot on. I see him that way, too. Author's Response: Hi, Jane, Thank you. I've been doing a few of them lately, haven't I? Must try to get back into some multi-chapter stuff..*winks knowingly*... It does bug me, especially since Cas knew that Sam didn't have all the info at his disposal but he still bailed Sam up during 5.06 about making the wrong choices. I do love Cas, but I thought he was being a bit of a hypocrite there - or he had a very short memory.... That, and the altered phone message - it bugs the hell out of me that those two things haven't been dealt with on the show yet. I'm really hoping they come out, not because I want to see a rift between Cas and the boys, but I want Dean to see that they were being manipulated all the way along by heaven and hell. And that what pushed Sam over the edge was in fact his changed message. It might go a long way towards healing the rift that still exists between the brothers. And give Sam some measure of comfort in knowing that it wasn't all his fault - that he had angelic help as well as demonic in breaking the final seal. Oh, and yes, no devil's trap and no salt line - Dean, what were you thinking? And if Dean forgot, why didn't Cas say something? Not good when they're that sloppy. Not good at all. After seeing the season finale it gave me a good image in my head of the boys playing with toy soldiers. It fit perfect with the finale and Sam sticking a toy soldier in the ashtray. Also loved your idea of Sam giving back the amulet. I really hope we see some form of that in season 6. I still want Sam to give it back to Dean. I look forward to your next story. You captured his hurt and heartbreak flawlessly..at Sam and Bobby. I love Bobby's comment at the end about being glad he's an only child..lol He seen enough with the boys to be thankful for that..and how much more vague could you be with those chapter end notes. Date: 01/06/10 Title: Chapter 4: Coming Around Again Ok, had to read chapters 3 and 4 together because your so quick that I didn't get to 3 before 4 was posted..hope you keep this up. LOL You got me worried about the boys now..I just hope my fears are just that..fears! Harsh words at the end, but Dean's really hurt..with just cause, but Dean tends to strike out when he's hurt and Sam seems to always get the brunt of it. They wouldn't hurt each other so much if they didn't love each other so much. That came through loud and clear, and loved how Dean..even though he's angry..still took a minute to look his baby brother over and make sure he was alright. So looking forward to your next chapter..soon I hope.

That boy has been through enough, and (my opinion) she's an outsider and doesn't know the boys relationship. She did think she wanted to throw him back in the pit. Not liking that much.
