I remember watching a couple of episode of Supernatural during season one and enjoying them, but never got a chance to watch it on a regular basis. I heard about it mostly when it would make fandom_wank for various reasons. Several times I added the dvds to my queue in Netflix, but usually cancelled the account before I got a chance to watch it.

Then one day I finally got around to watching the dvds. I told myself going in that I wasn't going to be one of those weird fans online who always ended up on the wank sites. I wasn't going to fall for the boys. I was just going to watch this show about monsters.

That lasted as long as the opening credits of the first episode. As soon as I saw it was directed by David Nutter and that Steve Railsback was guest starring, I was hooked. Having been a rabid fan of The X-Files back in the day, I was familiar with their work and respected them. The involvement of Kim Manners was just the cherry on top. I still miss him and I feel his loss every time I see his name in the credits.

So I was hooked on the technical aspects of the show, knew it was in competant hands with the directors, producers, and guest stars. I could enjoy the show for what it was. I was not going to fall for the main characters.

Apparently Dean Winchester had other ideas. I was hooked the first time I saw him on screen. The look, the attitude, the car. I had my favorite picked out in minutes. And I never looked back.

Then came season three and the introduction of Bela. I knew how it ended. I knew she died. I knew a lot of fans didn't like her. That didn't matter to me. I saw the potential there. I saw the chemistry between her and Dean. And it was beautiful. How could Kripke have not taken advantage of this? How could he not see what I saw? So that's where fanfic comes in. I could give Dean and Bela the chance they deserved.

I still love the show. Still love Dean. Still miss Bela. Still have lots of stories to tell. Hope to see you along for the ride.
