Oh boy are you drawing out the agony! For both our boys. Love it! I am feeling all the  physical and emotional torment to the point that it is draining. Sam begging for his life to end shows how much he is suffering and Dean's reaction just breaks my heart.

Sam reaching out to communicate with Dean is perfect - the brother's connection is strong enough for this to be possible. Brilliant, looking forward to seeing Dean work with this once he gets a handle on his shock.

So Lacey is a very vengeful spirit wanting to punish Galen for her past and Sam for the accident. And now she's going after Dean! Your story has hotted up. Come on Dean, some hunter intervention is needed!

Again, your flashbacks are spectacular. The way you are weaving boths stories makes for rivetting reading and I am enthralled! I have a feeling the parallels are significant...

Top job, I'm loving your work!

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I love the way the flashbacks are working as well, giving context to the story, like they do in life! Thank you again for all your kind words!

OMG, very intense and emotional. You make one want to reach out to both Sam and Dean so bad. Very well written. I'm looking forward to more.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'll have more very very soon!

Hoy moly, what an emotional storm, Deans, Sam's, mine!! and Lacey and Suzanna??? The pain and confusion radiates out of your story.

I love how you used a Winchester promise - as binding as they come. Absolute trust and faith that a father or brother's word given is his bond.

"Dad, please, he can always die, this might be his only chance to live" powerful words, alot rides on three hours. I loved this to bits.

Loved Dean's internal dialogue around the ghost sickness -  hunter never far from the surface, but a bit overshadowed at the moment by a heart sick brother.

Your fic has become multi-faceted. I feel like I need to look in four places at once!! Great work!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!

Still sobbing here.....Sam in agony, Dean thinking of letting him go, could there be any more guilt and angst?!!

I love the way the flashbacks keep leading Dean back to what I hope will be saving Sam again this time.  My favourite scenes have got to be Dean in the chapel, on the verge of total breakdown, just barely hanging in there....

The Dean/John scenes have been so tenderly protrayed, it's good to see the softer side of John.

Waiting in tearful anticipation of the next update....Thanks Jane

Author's Response: Thank you so much! John is such a hard character to write, he seems so fragile sometimes, I think!

You captured perfectly that transient hospital atmosphere, the different  states of emotion ranging from hope/relief to worry/despair.  It's almost like being frozen in time, whilst the rest of the world goes on around you.

I love the past/present storylines, it's like two for the price of one!!  I think Galen is a wonderful, caring character, not ashamed to show his feelings, just what Dean needs at the moment.  I thought the floating nun was lovely too.

There's just so much tension, guilt, pain and anguish...very powerful writing.  Sam asking Dean to let him go....sob, sob... I'm off to the next chapter.  J

Author's Response: Thank you so very much! This story has made me cry more than once!

Not content with just one cliffhanger, we now have two, one past, one present!!...lol

This was such an incredibly tense, traumatic chapter but so beautifully written.  I had to go back and read it again, as first time I was swept along just needing to know what had happened and the second time to savour the sights, sounds and details of each moment.

Dean's emotional turmoil is heart-breaking.  I've just got tohead on to the next chapter.  Thanks J

OK, bawling my head off *loud sob* Dean suffering with grief present and grief past. You have him in agony! Major angst.

Your protrayal of John was heart breaking. I can so see him that still, calm, not outwardly showing emotion despite the raging torrent we know is inside him. And Dean watching, like he always has, thinking he needs to do the same but not sure that he can. And then "the ice broke" - your writing showed us that John can only take so much, that behind the tough soldier/hunter is an adoring father .Your description of both John and Dean in that flashback was powerful. *applause*

And Sam hovering...not knowing how to get back, something is wrong?!? Again like the past (poison from the claws back then?? Now what??) Your last words from Sam "please Dean, please let me go" were tragic,  like Sam was giving up. I can give you Dean's response..."not gonna happen little brother"!!!

fantastic story, you're going a great job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! John is so hard to write sometimes, he feels cold, but I think the truth is he cares so much for those boys he has to keep it under control or it will just carry him away. And something is wrong, and there are clues in the past!

Holy Moly, that was intense. Two stories with cliffies. Very clever how you have a flashback mirroring the present - same angst, same agonising wait, both times Sam saying goodbye to his brother. I felt my heart break for Dean time and time again with your words.

Dean's internal dialogue was very revealing about what was really in his mind and gave us the real picture throughout your ch, "please, please' please" *sob*

Your scene stealer was your recount of Dean watching that arrow and his reaction as it hit Sam - it was like watching it in slow motion and I could hardly breathe "He caught Sam before he hit the ground" your description was vivid. Awewsome work!

How sad for Galen, and I'm glad he's there for Dean "He came looking for me before he went to idnetify her" ...Dean's ever present cloud of unworthiness again, very poignant.

I'll have the tissues ready before your next update. Your nailing it with this fic.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Galen started out as a one chapter character, but his compassion and friendship have become important to the story. *sends tissues*

*grabs kleenex*...the last chapter was sad but this one takes the cake, what with the flash back and mirroring it to the present..woah, very well done.

The end words, cruel to leave us with "Your brother is dying"..I can't wait to find out where you'll take this, it's safe to say I'm hooked!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! *sends tissues* I'll get them out of it! But it might be a rough ride for a little longer!

This chapter really got to me..the description and having Susanna die just like that. It's such a sad chapter to read, but excellently written all the same! I'm really enjoying this story, simple, sad and dramatic a great mix!

Holy mother of pearl..so I've just finished reading this story and now I'm gunna review. This chapter is great, light hearted (mostly) and humourous with a nice cliff hanger at the end!

words Dean and Sam should never hear about each other..... Hope to see a fairly quick update...really like your kind compassionate Galen.....   Dean needs some form of support...

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Galen has really grown from essentially a throw away character to someone important in the story!

A sob??!!!...I'm sitting in my office in tears......come on Muffy....need respiration help here.....    Update soon please

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I just updated, although I'm not sure that will help!

Reviewer: supernaturaljunkiejude (Signed) · Date: 15/11/07 06:07 PM · On: Chapter 1

oh, wow!!! poor Sam even when he gets lucky...it doesn't end well......great so far

Author's Response: Thank you! I know poor Sam, the story actually grew out of a snippet that came to me one night, Dean answering the phone and Sam saying "Susanna's dying"

Reviewer: Cookie6 (Signed) · Date: 15/11/07 06:04 AM · On: Chapter 2

My God Muffy, do you  know how to draw out the agony!! The drive, the search, the run, the run back up, the run back down, I can hardly breathe...it was all I could do not to skim instead of read to get to the bottom such was your anticipation.

The boys innate connection, just knowing was so well written that I felt the strength of it *bravo* And he's pinned! What a terrible decision for Dean to have to make.

Dean's tears and begging was soul destroying. And that sob at the end was devastating...

Poor Sam, another death he will attribute to himself.

Awesome chapter!

Aussie Oi!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! And poor Sam, yes, another death he will think is on his head. This story got increasingly hard to write, as I got so caught up in the emotions. Hope you like the next chappie.

Reviewer: Janger (Signed) · Date: 14/11/07 04:41 PM · On: Chapter 2

Oh Lord, what a cliffhanger!!  I'm waiting with baited breath.....

I loved the escalating panic as more and more of the crosses appear.  Great dialogue/thoughts between the brothers.  Dean just managing to keep control as long as he's doing something, then the feeling of helplessness when it's all taken out of his hands.

Ouch, impaled on a metal bar and Sammy saying goodbye, definately not a good sign!!  You did say it wasn't a Death Fic...Great update, can't wait for the next one.  Thanks. Jane

Author's Response: Thank you so much! And this is not Death Fic. Even if things look grim, this is not death fic!
