*sigh*

Wouldn't Dean be the sexiest, awesomest dad ever?

Sadly, I don't think Kripke and company will ever give us a Dean-as-Dad happy ending.

I want Winchester babies, damnit!!

Author's Response:

It would be one lucky gal to have Dean father her child!  He and Lisa made a great couple, and Ben was adorable, it broke your heart to see how much Dean wanted him to be his.

Maybe once they fulfill their destinies to save the world... but yeah, not on the show, Kripke wouldn't allow babies, but that's why we have fanfics!

Enjoy the holidays, B.J.

This is just lovely, I bet Kripke wishes he thought of putting this in the epi - it would have just finished it off so well.

It's so evocative without being cloying or overly sentimental. It made me cry because your characterisation was so right on that I was right there with them.

Thank you, broke my heart but I loved it - adding it to my favs.

Bev xxxx

Author's Response:

Thanks, Bev,

Yeah, I really wished they had the brothers talk about Dean thinking he might be a dad.  I just expected those brotherly moments so when the show didn't deliver it, I had to give them my own version.

I am so pleased it touched you.  The boys always have that affect on me when they have those brotherly talks.  Thanks for reviewing, B.J.

Fantastic, bless him.  An inspiring story!

Dix

Author's Response: Thank you, Dix.  It was heartbreaking to see Dean long for a son and be denied.  I just needed for Sam to be involved and give the support Dean so desperately needs. Take care, B.J.

This was such a wonderful story!  I love how the fun and light-heartedness contrasts with the deeper emotions of want and loss.  Hopefully, before SN's series finale, Dean will get the girl and a life.

Author's Response:

Thanks.  We can only hope Dean and Sam both get what they so richly deserve.  They would both make great dads.

I love how the show always mixes the humor, drama and insight... they are an inspiration.

Thanks again, take care, B.J.

very nice tag BJ. Very happy someone, you, wrote that missing scene, i regreted Sam wasn't involved in the daddy-thing. And that, " He'd always cherished the pride he felt over Sam's many accomplishments, his independence, and his heart.  The truth was he could never be prouder of anyone.  And if he was in any small measure responsible for any of Sam's fine qualities... then he guessed he was a success.  Maybe it was enough.", beautifull line.

Author's Response:

Thanks for a lovely review.  Yeah, I do think Dean was a huge factor in raising Sam... my own personal theory is that it was Dean that made it possible for Sammy to play soccer.

Sam turned out so great because of Dean's influence and that does show what a great dad he would be if he ever got the chance.

I'm still hoping the show lets Sam in on the "Ben" issue at some point.  Later, B.J.

That was so lovely. I adore this line:

Sam froze the moment in his mind's eye... so sensitive and special, so sweet... so unlike Dean, but then so totally Dean.

Amen to that. Thank you so much.

Author's Response:

Thank you! Yes, that is what makes Dean soooo very special, he is so many different conflicting facets.

I swear no other actor could make us believe all the diverse aspects of Dean's intricate personality.  Jensen is amazing and he gives us such a fascinating character to write about.

Take care, B.J.

This is the first fic I've seen for S3! This eppy showed Dean's mixed emotions of worry and joy at the prospect that he could be a dad. Thanks for exploring this in your great little tag. Loved how you took us to a fun park to explore this, very appropriate - emotional roller coaster and all.Sam's shock was a big factor in your story and you covered it very well. How sad for our boys that they are not dads - Dean because his lifestyle and brickwall won't allow it and Sam coz he feels the opportunity was stolen from him with his loss of Jess. Epic job, I was on that ride with them thanks to you.

Author's Response:

Thanks for a great review.  Yeah, both boys would make great dads and maybe... someday.

I feel like this entire season is going to be an emotional rollercoaster. So much going on and it is so great to be able to explore that in my stories.

Take care, B.J.

Beautiful, thank you! I have tears in my eyes now. You served the boys well. I think this is pretty much the first story dealing with S3. I am so hoping that the show will deal more with the feelings of the boys instead of action and horror in the episodes to come. I have missed that so far. Your story was simply wonderful and absolutely touching. Both Sam and Dean would make great dads. But seeing Dean just  "preparing" for his death and not allowing himself that there might be a chance for a normal life for him is just heartbreaking.  He deserves to be happy. Thank you for sharing this emotional story with us :)

Author's Response:

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful review!

Yes, the tragedy of the Winchesters, and especially Dean is heartbreaking... they both deserve so much more than they are ever allowed.  Dean would make a great dad, Sam too.  Maybe someday.

Take care, B.J.

That was so touching.  A dialog between the brothers that TKAA needed!  Thanks!

Author's Response:

Thanks!  Yeah, as great as the episode was, I couldn't believe the brothers didn't discuss Ben.

Here's hoping the issue will come up later.

Thanks for reviewing, B.J.

That was so beautiful. You had me in tears at the end. Just goes to show how much we need tags. Always enjoy reading your work. You seem to stuff so much of what the boys are feeling into such short pieces. Bravo!

Author's Response:

Thank you, Nilah.  That review was wonderful to read.

I always hope to capture the boys and the depth of their emotions.

Yes, I love SN, but I'm feeling like this season so far really needs some tags to delve deeper into issues the show just doesn't have time to cover.

Thanks again, B.J.

Loved the story.  Extremely well written.  You are right, this is why we watch the show!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Jeanne.  Cool that we spell our names the same, too. (middle name, LOL)

Yes, this is exactly why we watch the show and I can't wait for the show to give J & J the scripts to act the emotional stuff.

My imagination only takes me so far, I want to see the emotions on J & J's faces.

Thanks for reviewing, B.J.

Gotta say I LOVE that you 've kicked off the oneshots and tags for the new season.  Hopefully all that follow will equal this one in pure heart, great job and thanks for the read - K

Author's Response:

I don't get much chance to read... so there haven't been many tags yet?  Wow, I'm surprised, especially with the fans grumbling about what they feel is missing in S3.

I want the show to address the emotional toll of the deal and have the brothers discuss the "Ben" issue, but it does give us writers lots to write about when they don't.

Thanks for a lovely review, B.J.

A very touching and moving story.  Almost brings tears to the eyes with its poignancy.

Author's Response:

Thank you.  The Winchesters are always bringing me to the verge of tears.

Take care, B.J.

awesome. bj ......stunned that you put this together so quickly after Dean meets Ben epi.....Funny when I read your beginning comments....Bayre and I were discussing that same missing part of the Spn S 3 equation.....we're hoping once the new females are introduced...there will be more brotherly talk and time....

Thank you for giving us that "something" that made us all addicted to this wonderful show!!!

Author's Response:

Thanks! Yeah, I'm hoping once they get their plots in place, they'll delve into the emotional strain of the deal.

With J & J's empathetic acting, they have to write some emotional moments for the boys.  Otherwise what's the point? LOL

Later, B.J.

BJ this is a great piece of writing. I didnt even see it on the just added - found it at your home page.

Wanted to quote my fav lines but there are just so many. And you made me cry - tough feat in itself.

Wish the 'talk' had been part of ep 2, like you I need my emotional fix from the boys!

Great work and I'll be looking out for more from you.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! Glad to hear readers sometimes check out my home page and maybe read some of the older stories.

Yes, I'm hoping the emotional bonding moments are coming.  I still want to see the show address this issue.  Sam deserves to  know.

Take care, B.J.
