OK, I'm graspng at straws now but.... what if its like only "part of Sam" like the dark parts or something and meanwhile the other part of Sam has been following Dean around and talking to him. Since the "good Sam" is worried, calmer and sad the emotions aren't stong enough for Dean to see him (yet). OH, and in the end you bring him back to life! Yeah, that'll work *big smile*

Forgot to say how much your story concept rocks! I love how Dean handles hs grief and anger by dismanteling the Impala and selling it for parts. And the way he checks references first is just sooo Dean. Sam reacting the way he does is also cannon. I do love grieving!Dean and protective!Sam. (I just wish for my happy brothers back *snif*)

Wow! Dean coming to the conclusion that Sam was the murderous spirit was every bit as delicious as I'd hoped it would be! Gotta love the torture of the Winchesters! I'm practically on the edge of my seat now. I wonder if Bobby will reach the same conclusion about Sam on his own or if Dean will have to tell him?

I found it interesting that Bobby compares Dean to a crippled man who can no longer walk. A bit prophetic, isn't it? "You take what you need, you hear me? And I'm damn well glad to give it. Family don't need no payment." I got teary-eyed at that. Bobby's got a way of just cutting to the heart of things, Okay, they salted & burned Sam's body but were they able to get all the gooey fluids and tissues from the Impala and the road? I think I like the idea of Sam being a vengeful spirit. It's never been done before. I'm eager to rush to the next chapter.

OMG! Sam is a vengeful spirit?!!! Or are you just trying to mess with our minds? This is really going to kill Dean to have to salt & burn his brother. It's bad enough that he has to live without Sam but knowing his brother's spirit is responsible for the deaths of innocent people is the last weight to crush his spirit.

Dead?! Seriously? It was a great chapter until you killed Sam (and even then it was wonderfully written). I'm so glad that I'm not reading this in installments because I think I'd be angry at that evil ending. :)

I'm loving the story, but I sure wish Sam wasn't dead, but since he is, I sure wish he wasn't killing people ... if it is Sam, but who else could it be? Unless ... all those people bought car parts from another wrecked car where someone was killed ... yeah, that would be better than Sam killing innocent people. Do you think you could work that idea into the story ... or maybe you already have. I can't wait to read the next chapter. Also, happy belated birthday.

You know, I really still can't decide if I want Sam to be the spirit or not. The angst of either situation would be tremendous - Dean getting almost hopeful, in an odd, twisted way, for a chance to say goodbye, and then that hope getting snatched away if it's someone else... But then again, seeing them both saying that goodbye, gawd. You're breaking my heart either way! I'd love to see Bobby get worried about the keys - you've kind of hinted at it here, but watching that dynamic shift as he tries to keep the worry from Dean, and maybe pays the price... Dean's subsequent panic, maybe a desperate rush to get to the Scrapyard before it's too late... *shivers* As to what's coming? I'm betting a goodly chunk of action, a big ol' honking slice of angst and probably more than a few tears. For them as well as us! Bring it!

*flails* Can I hug Dean and Bobby now? Pretty please? Though I suspect you're gonna put them through a whole lot more before it's done... That moment, when Bobby answered without thinking about it, then realised - wow. I could picture it perfectly, watch it happen in my head just like I was seeing it in an episode. I love where you are going with this story!! When you think about it, it's not surprising that Sam's spirit would go wherever the Impala's goes. It would be the same for Dean. I can even understand the vengeful spirit part. Seeing someone else where his brother should be and not understanding why would drive either brother to the edge. He's just looking for his brother, and until he finds him it won't stop. The wait for this story was worth it, and I look forward to reading your next chapter!! Very nice. Don't worry about the typos. :) I like what you're working on here with the two parallel stories. It'll be interesting to read your take on Sam losing his brother - both opposed to Dean's grief in this story and Sam's grief on the show. I'm very exited :) Hope to read a new chapter on Quake soon?
Author's Response: as soon as possible! i plan to finish this fic before getting to QUAKE, but then ill devote my full attention to finishing that one before going on to DAMNATIONS, SHRAPNEL, or THE DROWNING. I have several fics lined up for after that, so i'm trying to get my WIPs out of the way first :).
