is it really their dad or is it the shape shifter? (when is this set?)
Author's Response: Set right after Asylum, so I guess it's easy to figure out who's really at the door, right?

OK, I'm so worried that's not really John!! How did he know where they were?? My only possible answer freaks me out! SHE was following! If it really is John, your twist is welcome, a relief, but if not our boys are in for it - again! Cool twist either way. Angst just right, not overdone but I'm an emotional mess just the same! This was actually a tender ch, love Sammy so competently in charge and so diligent in his care of his brother. It was almost calming, the brothers hidden away in privacy and safety after the franticness of Dean's rescue and escape. You described the bath scene with finese, loved how Sam sucked up the horror at those injuries he felt as a brother and let the hunter administering field medicine take over. Very nicely done. Of course Sam's guilt was gonna red line, wouldn't be our soft hearted Sam if it didn't. I loved the way you had this working for Sam, in the form of revenge, for himself and for his brother. You know how much I've been looking forward to that!! Yeah, your bada$$ is bringing out my dark side... My fav line was Dean's reaction to his car "seeing the only girl he'd ever truly loved waiting patiently at the door for him to come home as they made their escape made his knees buckle beneath him" - just beautiful! I soo get that you are showing the car as representing- being - home, safety, control and normality - everything that Dean is stripped of at that moment. Awesome writing! Once again, the pace, topic and scenery of each chapter changes, adding to, building on the overall plot line and keeping us enthralled. Epic work!
Author's Response: I'm so glad the twist was a welcome one, I really wasn't sure how that was going to go over. You may be right in your answer, just an observation. As for poor Sam, his guilt is far from over, he still doesn't know who is really behind all this yet. Dean does, but hey, he's not talking (yet) As always, thanks for the great words of encouragement!!

I didn’t want it to end either!! This chapter was a mega dose of suspense!! Seriously heart hammering stuff! HER stalking the halls, cold black heart, your words shrieked her hatred and evilness. Your description of her using her hypo sense of smell was exceptional; you created a scene which was eerie and horrific. Her contemplating which way of killing Dean would suit her purpose and mood was chilling. Her glee at imagining his death at her hands “She would enjoy feeling the rise and fall of his chest stop as she felt his pulse fade to nothing…” OMG! Your description of Sam’s anxiety as he approached the asylum was fantastic – you put us right back to that eppy where the boys were left emotionally drained and it heightened the angst to your fic dramatically. This sentence was so powerful –“Now his brother was back in that hell hole, after only god knows what had been done to him, and Sam still didn‘t even know why” you put us in Sam’s headspace and my stress level went through the roof. Sam spying the impala was brilliant writing – “…right next to the beautiful body of Dean’s precious baby. There the Impala stood, in all it’s glory, just waiting to be taken away from this horrible place with Dean in tow.” You made the connection that the impala is so much part of Dean that, like Sam, we felt the boys were closer to being together. Your description of Sam finding Dean made me suck in my breath, you depicted Sam’s shock and grief exactly. And that rat!! Of all the horrors for Dean, curled up and comfy, holy freakin’ moly, that is one awful image to add to the horror!! The saddest scene in this whole fic of horrors so far was Dean’s panic and attempt to fight when he perceived Sam to be a threat. Absolutely heart shattering words, amazing authorship. And while their joy at being together again cannot be denied, their joy at being out is going to be short lived isn’t it… Fantastic chapter, don’t know how I managed to read and breathe at the same time!
Author's Response: You know what they say about men and their cars, so I guess the Impala is totally a part of Dean (at least, that's how I see it) Thanks as always for your awesome words!!

Ahhhh... Very Clever, but it makes me wonder, is it dear old John or is Jay screwing with his head... you sure know how to make a reader chase there own tails! loving it as always. Way to go Sam! you take charge boy, give our dean some TLC. God knows he deserves it right now!
Author's Response: I had three different ways to take this and at the suggestion of some trusted family members, John was the winner. I'm really glad you think it went the right way, thanks!

Yay! Freedom! Well, at least for a moment. Sam's anguish is just beginning.
Author's Response: Yeah, I'm thinking you may be right about that.

Again with the damn rats! Hurry Sam!!!
Author's Response: Don't worry, the rat will not chew on anything important.

It's about time Jay killed her partner. His purpose had been fulfilled---no use keeping him around. At least she isn't a stupid villain. Wonderful chapter!
Author's Response: Stupid she is not, at least for now. thanks again, and thanks for commenting! It boosts the ego (Like I have one, ha ha)

OMG! RATS! EEEWWW! I HATE RATS! I could barely finish reading this chapter. You've officially spooked the crap out of me!
Author's Response: Sorry, but that was the reaction I was hoping for, guess it worked.

At least Dean knows that Sam isn't really Sam and they've both been played. Now Sam has to get wise. I'm so glad I waited to read this after it was mostly written so I don't have to wait for postings.
Author's Response: I hear you, I like reading stories when they're almost done too, I have way too short an attention span to wait.

I'm surprised Dena can even get to the door, let alone down to the ER. I can't wait for Sam to figure out what's going on and start kicking ass.
Author's Response: Dean is tough, he'd be nothing without willpower, and that's just about what he's living on now.

Wow! You're right---there is nothing worse. Poor Dean. Yet an incredible chapter!

I love the constant references to the Winchester luck and Dean's pov was perfect! You have his mental bitch and moan down brilliantly!
Author's Response: Thank you, his mental bitch and moan is yet another weakness of mine, the moanier the better!

Finally, Sam is getting at the truth. but I'm sure help is a long time coming. Still so much torture and anguish for them both to experience. Too bad for them, but good reading for me.
Author's Response: Thank you thank you. Sam is a little slow sometimes, which is strange because he's supposed to be the smart one, isn't he?

Never too much torture when the Winchesters are involved! How is Jay going to get out of this one? I'm sure she doesn't want Dean going to the hospital.
Author's Response: I hear ya about the torture! Got a weak spot for it myself (obviously)

So the second shape-shifter is the father of the one Dean killed. Sweet! Two shape-shifters means twice the fun. I hope you tell us how they hooked up.
Author's Response: eventually, everything will come out, I think.

I can literally see the boys in this chapter. Poor Dean! Poor Sam! This is not the end right??? I need to know that at the very least Sam is going to kick Jay's butt for torturing Dean that way.
Author's Response: No, not the end, not by a longshot. There's still plenty more in store for our boys and their little friend.

What a gripping chapter, the suspense was killing me when Jay was searching for DEan and just when she found him Sam arrived and rescued him. Dean is safe for the moment but Jay must have something up in her sleeves, can't wait to know what's her plan. Amazing work Strigo.
Author's Response: You are 100% right, Jay has something up her sleeve, and it's not going to be just her arm either.

This was another excellent chapter. I loved your word choice throughout the chapter. You are truly a gifted writer.

Oh thank you thank you way to go Sam! I was terrified that Dean was gonna have to endure being a rat snack for another chapter. the idea of all the emotinal damage durng all this was very well portrayed, like readying it actually made me feel the hurt. Sam must feel guilty as hell right about now, or worse. (to tell you the truth I don't know the brand name, of the machine, my brother stole - errr - borrowed it shortly after it arrived)
Author's Response: That's ok, think i'll just hit Starbucks. And yes, the boys are thankfully together once again, but their problems are far from over. Thanks for following and reviewing, and hopefully I'll get my a$$ moving on the next chapter soon.

Jay, stalking through the corridors, hunting for Dean whilst he lay there unprotected and unawares was oh so creepy. Then, YEAH, Sam to the rescue!! I loved Sam's reaction to finding the Impala and then his horror at it being left unlocked. Following the blood trail back into the asylum was like some gruesome treasure hunt as he made each new horrific dicsovery, culminating in the Winchester version of a teddy bear, huge, sated, cuddly rat!!....lol Dean's fear and uncertainty upon seeing Sam was a sign of the torment he's gone thfough, I guess there'll be time for the guilt and angst once they're safely out of there. It's so nice to have them back together again with the Impala just a short hobble away. Now, the question is, will they make it back to the car before that psycho Sammy lover shows ups again?? Great story. Jane
Author's Response: Thank you, as I always need to say, for the great feedback! I can never hear enough. Yeah, I'm thinking the guilt is on the was, pretty soon, and don't worry, the car is only a few short steps away.

yay they're together!!! thanks : ) update soon!

OH YAY, YAY, YAY -- the brothers are together again! I know the danger isn't yet over (*&%$#@! Jay), but they're together and I love it. Sam's reaction to Dean's condition was terrific. I could feel my stomach clenching right along with his. Funny how the rat was sleeping in the crook of Dean's arm instead of chewing on his face as I half expected. Bravo! Cannot wait for the next installment!!!
Author's Response: You're probably right about the danger being far from over, but hey, why now. I could NEVER EVER let that rat do damage to that all to perfect face, that would just be way too wrong! Thanks, as always!!

Loved the reunion- you could have belabored it- but you didnt and it was just perfect!!!!! Even the curled up rat was somehow- just not so bad.... Nice job dude!!
Author's Response: I actually thought I did draw it out a little, so thanks for letting me know otherwise. You had to know there was no way I was letting that rat munch on his pretty face, so let it be his pet, if only for a little while. Thanks a million, it means more to me then you know!
