Great turn, you`re doing it very difficult for Sam. I hope he believes in his instincts, because John does not look very reliable. Good job, you choose a hard task, Sam has to take account of every action of John and leave his feelings aside to be sure it is the shapeshifter. I loved him taking care of Dean and protecting him as Dean always does with him. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

He felt the tug on the back of his shirt before he heard or saw anything else, his upper body twisting fully around to watch what was going on behind him as Dean struggled to rise onto his hands and knees, his stomach visibly clenching over and over, each contraction of muscles causing his shoulders to hunch and his chest the lurch as he fought the need to expel whatever it was that had crawled into his stomach and was now trying to work it’s way out. This is the part that I keep returning to. (Yes, partly because I'm twisted as I mentioned before. hehe) Your description is dead on--I can practically SEE Dean's stomach muscles contracting and his shoulders lurching. (Can actually hear it too because I imagine he'd be making those sounds--kinda like soft grunting--which we all do when we're getting ready to be sick.) But, it's here that you illustrate Dean's vulnerability so well. We all know how sick he is, but here we virtually see him walking a tightrope and we await with bated breath to see if he's going to "fall". I can just imagine what's going on in Dean's fevered brain. When your that sick and in such misery, your mind does funny things. If and when I'm ever that sick, I always ending up wishing for my mother to be there with me. (Yeah, again I'm weird.)

Nope, that's not John! Not reactive enough, not controlling the situation enough. Not angry enough! Take notice of those hairs standing up on the back of your neck Sammy!!! Still loving the attentive, caring Sam. Dean falling into his brothers lap and then staying there under Sam's protection showed the trust and security the brothers share. Thanks for that lovely imagery. (Bet Vanessa's loving that bit!!) It also communicated loud and clear to John - real of not - that the boys depend only on each other. I loved the way you had Sam continually block John from Dean, that lovely combination of worried brother and hunter tactics *sigh* Sam's initial reaction, the pull between a boy wanting/needing his father and taking up his anger where it left off was particularly welldone, this would be Sam's reaction after not seeing his father for so long. You did a great job of showing us his confusion and dilemma. Add to this shapeshifter/not shapeshifter and we can see the horrible headspace Sam is in. No wonder he's holding on tight to his brother and his gun! Is this the calm before the storm?? It feels very much like it! And we don't want your eyeballs to pop out! Love the term 'Holiday Head' lol!!

Very well written chapter Helen. Don't worry about it. I really like how you describe Sam's doubts about "his fahther" and how desperately he tries to find out the truth and take care of Dean at the same time. And the threat of being taken back to the hospital makes an even half delirious Dean pull himself together. But you still remember about the bacteria from the rats and the possible drug restraint, right? He he.... just to top off the list of Winchester problems. I am still loving this story and I am eagerly sitting down to read whenever I see you have posted a new update. Looking forward to the next one - thanks for the great work so far! Happy holidays :)

I liked the word choice of this chapter. It flowed well. I did not see anything wrong with it. I am like Sam I am still unsure whether that is really John or not.

Well, I liked it if that's any help. I'm so glad to see Sam suspicious that that thing is not his father. I also really liked the part where Dean almost threw up (I'm such a freak, I was hoping he would--which is just twisted. hehe)

Well, here I am again reading this chapter for the 4th or 5th time. :-) I think I come back when I need a little "fix". I love the part where Dean's weakly trying to get out of the tub and away from the cold water. There's just something about that little sentence that shouts just how sick and vulnerable he is. Sam doesn't realize yet that Dean's fingers are messed up because rats were gnawing on them, does he? Will he find out rats were chewing on his brother? (Don't mind me--I'm having angst/guilt fantasies in my head. hehehehe)

I need that little fix every now and then too, just something about Dean in wet boxers that screams nasty little things in my head. I have those angst/guilt fantasies all the time, dont' worry. Awesome! Dad??? I don't think so! Just another really bad encounter with Jay/her "friend" right? Poor Dean, somehow I feel Sam's help isn't enough for him and his battered body. Great chapter! I just love watching Sam take care of Dean's various and sundry wounds. I feel bad for Dean having to chew all those pills--that's gotta be nasty--but he'll do it 'cause he doesn't want to go to the hospital. For whatever reason, I really liked it when Dean had to show his brother his back to prove why he can't go to the hospital. Sooo--is this really Dad? Huh? Huh? Huh? (hehe--I sound like I'm 5 y/o.)
