Great beginning! I always like starting a story by jumping in the middle of turmoil. Cool!
I especially like when Jess isn't certain if she's afraid for Sam or of Sam.

yes definately yes! so curious right now and honestly, who wouldn't be afraid of sam if he found a bunch of guys attacking someone he loved? Totally intrigued right now and i'm really anxious for the next chapter.
